Actually, I don't think Chara bailed/gave up. At 0:18, Neil's skate gets caught up on the stick, and it looks like he gets thrown off balance a little. Chara was holding onto Neil and may have gotten the stick in his skates as well (can't really tell for sure). That one's really on the linesmen, who are supposed to clear sticks/gloves/helmets/elbow pads out of the way of the fighters.
Class on both parts. Chara slipped on the stick and was vulnerable and Neil coulda filled him in. Instead he let the refs in and Chara gives him a pat at 0:24. That's why hockey is the best game on earth.

Besides, a moment when you lose yourself, like, something happens and you do it in the heat of the moment is excusable. It's when you repeatedly take cheap shots at players for no legitimate reason. When you are in a fight, you should follow basic guidelines, which do exist. Sure you can fight dirty, but if you follow those guidelines, then you're fighting with honour/class. @LegalizeCrlme An opinion is a point of view. You might think it's not right. That doesn't make it false. Guidelines: Don't attack someone when their back is turned, when someone is finished with the fight, there is no need to keep fighting them. etc.
I also play hockey and I knew these rules from day 1 without anyone telling me, cause it's just common sense and it's something that should exist in your moral code.

Have a chat with the people in your area that has played hockey at a higher level than house league. Talk to people who are older than 16 and have played at AAA/junior/professional level, let them educate you. There are guidelines at the highest level of hockey, don't be ignorant, go educate yourself.

@23snacKs Well, its pretty obvious that if he wanted to keep hitting him then he could, the refs would just have to break it up. it's happened before. But when the standing guy stops, he probably thinks that the other guy is down, he's vulnerable and the standing guy has already won, so there is no point in fighting anymore. Awesome. But the guys who don't stop are most likely trying to cause unnecessary extra harm to the loser, even though they have already won. So, no class.

He's fearless and fights at good times in the game.
