  • wow vocals........:)

  • WPXI used this theme many moons ago.... WPVI set the standard with this theme song.

  • This local news theme sounds so 1970s. These stations need to update their music.

  • To any Philadelphian this music is as normal to us as our parents voices.

  • @citysims

WPVI needs to keep this same theme. No reason to fix whats not broken

  • Network Ten also used that theme.. hope it's back soon

  • 6 abc here is philly still today uses this theme... they only use the whole theme after sunday news... classic

  • Hahahahaha

  • WJLA has that same composer who did TV=7 is part of your life

  • WNEP uses this

  • @TV6USA it's a similar version that WNEP uses...but it's not the exact version that WPVI uses.

  • WTEN in Albany used this as well in the mid 70's.

  • alot of the news broadcasts used this anthem I have heard a variation of this song / anthem on WKBW 7 BUFFALO NEW YORK!! it's 11:00 do you you know where your children are lol

  • Never heard the complete version of this theme.

This has been WPVI-TV (Channel 6) in Philadelphia's opening since I believe 1973 (though I do believe it was used by a New Hampshire station first). This also was WPIX-TV (Channel 11) in New York's opening when they used the "Action News" format from 1977-'80 (and where I first heard this music), however, Channel 11 never used the vocal part of the theme at all.

  • WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh used this back in the late 80s and early 90s

  • @GuardianRebelDave12 Sorry, the down vote (mine) was an accident.

  • @Wallyhorse It's alright.

  • WTNH-TV used this song 1970 - 1980 and played it again from 1984 to 1986

  • Actually, When WKBW changed from Eywitness News to 7 News (2003-2008), they changed their theme. On the 50th anniversary of Eyewitness News, they changed it back. I was happy because I remember listening to Irv read the headlines at the beginning of the broadcast.

  • Oh, really?

    Thanks.

  • KTUL-8 in Tulsa, Oklahoma played this during the 1970's

  • KTVU-2 In Oakland California played this song from 1971 to 1974. I was born and raised in The Bay Area
