@shabehpersia21 it did reminded me of lion king too haha maybe because Christian is similar to Simba. They both grew up in an environment away from home (one with a pig and a meerkat, the other with humans) after that they both got back to reality and adapted their new lives.
why the hell couldnt i have been born in the 60s? then i could have grew up in the seventies instead of this shitty time. anyone ever seen terminator 2? with the boy and how he acts? well thats what i want!
@teoxs37 to put it simply his pride moved away from the rehab camp he was from for more game to hunt, which he may or may not have survived, given that he was wounded by other wild lions before and had to be treated for it.
They did do the right thing. I am amazed because a lot of people would have kept him and capitalized on him for as much profit as possible. Instead, they did what was right and gave him his freedom. This story always makes me cry....cry for all the lions, tigers, elephants, etc that are exploited away and killed in the name of the almighty dollar. I wish more people respected mother nature and all of her creatures. The world would be a much more beautiful place.
gosh lions and so friendly but I HATE WHEN FREAKING PEOPLE HUNT THEM WHY DO THE HUNT LIONS TIGERS WHY give my a thumbs up if you think i am right like why and the lion is so sweet and the people to be friends with a lion you should be the best thing that should happen in your life
This video is amazing christian is beautiful and i think christian was very excited to see him but I believe the hugs the affection was his way of saying thank you. whether we are in the 70's or not the risks back then are the same risks that we have today.
It's really sad to know that you're never going to see your friend again, but it has to be a really happy moment knowing that you did the right thing. Honestly this story always make me feel emotional. We'll probably never see individuals like George Adamson, Ace, and John again.
@yeti576, Well My "Amerikan friend" a "Lyon" is a "Lion" ( Felidae) born in Lyon France, It is a special kind of " lyon" such as yourself. Should you have any more questions and concerns, please contact me again.
@yeti576, goggle "Lion" then read... Good bye Kid, I ran out of words from my English lexico, so I can no longer reply to your comments or questions you might have in the near future...
He looks wild, a real lion. Far cry from what he'd have ended up had he been sold to anyone else in the world--hunter's fodder at some hunting "reserve," stuck in a zoo cage the rest of his life? I love what these people did for this lion, and I love seeing the videos of him--so inspiring.
I know, in the 70's you could spend time with full grown panthers and lion at the wild parks in the cages with the animals, they raised them with dogs and the dogs stayed in the cage with you while you played with the big cat. Man, their paws are strong!
i can't wrap my mind around the fact that humans would so casually walk up to a lion and just trust that it will recognize them and want to play. I don't think I could ever do that, even if the said it was OK. :S Crazy
@Underpantsniper that wasnt really the bad part of Vietnam. It ended 3 years after this video, and most of the 70's was "cleanup" in Vietnam while the bloodshed was mainly mid 50's through the 60's..
EVERYTHING is TAXED,.I pay it all don't fret,..even the HST Just generally, life is much more complicated..jobs (good ones) hard or impossible now due to globalization/modern technology to come by, being bombarded by advertising I don't want to see/hear..having things that used to be free now forced to buy.I don't mean drug
Life still good,.but I can recall a time when it was "more free"

This guys blog-story of his lion is so funny & so touching!! I never seen Born Free but maybe it's still around. I want to see it now ...but they do say now lions live longer in captivity. Its a hard life in Africa for a lions these days
I am so glad they were able to have a second reunion with Christian. I feel it gives us closure knowing that Christian was able to live his life as a lion in nature.
Christian is in our hearts and we love him dearly. This story also effected me. The second reunion helped give me closer because it is nice to know that he lived his life in the wild and even had his own family.
@celebritylorv You do realize this happened for about 40 years ago?? Christian lives in our hearts now, but Liions live in the wild for 10-14 years as someone wrote here, so Christian is dead for lon time ago.
This is such an enchanting story. I love Christain, Why can't the poachers open there dumb eyes and see what there hunting is basicall just a big usually friendly ball of fluff. I really wantt to kill the poachers - see how they like it. Long live lions , and the owners of Christain - who showed magnificent unselfishness.
@TheEpicAbigail Lions arent usually friendly balls of fluff, they are more than capable of hurting anyone, and thats purely because thats their instinct... Thats not to say that they are only able to be like that, as with any animal if raised from birth in a loving happy enviroment they would grow up to keep that freindship. Animals are amazing when you have a special bond with them, and poachers dont, they couldnt care less because they are providing for themselves and their families.
You're quite naive. Wild lions are not "friendly balls of fluff", they are killers at the top of their food chain. Christian was born and raised with humans and so learned to be friendly
this was a very touching story.. bless them all .. I'm happy , but I'm also sad. I'm happy because they let him back to his freedom. and I find it touching , and a little sad that he said his final fairwell in a very.. touching way I think.. it was his way of saying - Goodbye.
