  • the swat team was at the academy together. rallying didn't take long. TRAFFIC, however, was a bear. And coming from a SWAT operator, a 40 minute response time is still very good.

  • actually, matasaraneau's family won 15 million because they supposedly let him bleed out after they captured him. hopefully, the 7 civilian victims sued his family for their wounds and emotional distress to get that 15 million into more deserving hands.

  • I don't know how these guys do it.

  • None of the families of the suspects one anything all the cases were thrown out

  • or...you have never been to LA...do you know how traffic is in LA? ...also LA is so big it takes aleast 30 mins to get from one side to the other....and not to mention the time it gets for the SWAT to get ready.

  • You are such a dumbass. SWAT isn't used often enough to have them all together all the time. They are disbursed throughout all divisions of the LAPD. When they issue a TAC Alert. They have to come from other divisions, home, the gym, or wherever else they are at. You watch too much TV you idiot.

  • You are right!, LAPD D. Platoon is based out of Metropolitan Division

  • civil court should be done away with, its full of frivolous bullshit and losers suing because they cant win in real court, proponderance of evidence is a bullshit setup. I think criminals should forfiet all rights once convicted and if they are on video doing the crime then nop trial is needed, just a judge to view and sentence

  • another interesting note: officer martin whitfield (9L89) intended to sue the families and estates of the gunmen if they won their suit and return the money to the officers originally sued. i would have loved to see that. criminals don't deserve worker's comp

  • Atleast these bastards didn't have to waste tax payers money on a bullshit trial.

  • The family of the last suspect to die sued one of the cops and ruinned him

  • It figures.

  • Ruined him? Hardly.

The 1st trial was a mistrial and the second never materialized. Matasareanu's kids agreed not to pursue damages if the LAPD would stop counter-suing them.

Hilarious side note: The lawyer that took the case (the one suing LAPD) is in federal prison:

    Tax evasion, bankruptcy fraud, money-laundering
