  • i cant get my idle pullie to work right

  • Question if u reverse the from an back pulley do you need to chane the belt

  • y is your tranny up side down

  • @18bigbeast its not......

  • ok so i have a massy furgason 7 and i want it to go faster but it has a hydro speed trany on it whould i have to get a reg trany or what?

  • what did u have to do to get the back pulley off like did u have to take the rear off?

  • hey i have a 20 horse brigs and stratton with 4 inches on the front would it be relitively fast like 25 if i put a 4 inch on the back and also how do u get the shifter and brake of the transaxel

  • Thanks so much for the advice! Will try that! :)

  • how fast would you say this would go, and is this the engine that was in the mower, or is it not the mower engine??

  • My question, does it still work with the cutting deck? Trying to build a racing mower. But still has to be able to cut grass. Any help would be totally appreciated!

  • @coolcat350z You should be able to get some decent speed using a 2.5 rear pulley and leave the front stock. You would just have to slow the motor down or you could make the front pulley that drives the mower deck bigger to compensate for the lower rpm of the engine. Either that or you could ride the clutch but that might wear out your belt quicker.

  • in color by jamie johnson. the song in the background

  • hey two questions one is were is the easiest spot to find the make of your tractor and also would a 1 to 1 ratio be good or would it go to fast my trac can do 7,500 rpm

  • hey i know these lawn mowers come with the blades once u take the blade off what do u do to make it run?

  • oh yea jammin to jamey johnson in the background!!!!!

  • hey man i was wondering to do just a pully swap do you have to weld

  • @pumkinchunkin na they juss bolt on n off

  • do you have to change your clutch when you do this

  • Comment removed

  • hi how did u get the front pulley to sit were it is and not slide down as mine got a bolt on the bottom of the crank and a keyway (the pulley doesnt sit high enough)

  • it looks to be a briggs from the other videos

  • and watch out if the chain breaks, the belt makes less noise anyway.

  • So... How fast will it go?

  • okay so im in a bad position right now im 15 and i guess a redneck i have a big pully in the front andd also a big on in the back i need help with how to get a smaller one on the back transaxle without taking a bunch of shit out but looking at ur lawn mower i have a bunch of extra shit thats not in urs why is that?

  • would this pully set up work good on a dirt/clay 1/8 mile dirt oval track building a racer for the first time i wanna get it pretty close to perfect

  • would this pully set up work good on a dirt/clay 1/8 mile dirt oval track building a racer for the first time i wanna get it pretty close to perfect

  • If you don't want to worry about the belt just put the pulley for the engine on the back and the back pulley on the engine

  • how fast do u think it goes? nice video

  • I have a 16 horse lawn mower and it had a mower deck on it and I took it off but the pulley from the deck is on the front pulley what should I do to get it cut off should I cut it with a grinder or what?

  • i've got the stock pulley up on the motor and a 1.5" on the tranaxle and my lawn mower goes 45 down the road like it's nothing

  • i would like a better one..

  • what kind of tractor

  • nice how much faster is it then stock and where ya get the pullys from?

  • nice vid man. i just picked up a riding lawn mower for free, i wanna make it fast. first i gotta get it running then figure out a way to make it fast. what would you sugest to make it fast? i dont know the year make or model but does that matter for like changing the pulleys? and how much do those pulleys cost and where could i get them? i think the motor is a briggs and stratton 12 horse. great vid man just need a little help on makin my lawn mower badass like yours!

  • my tractor has 2 drive belts engine is lower that the rear end any ideas?

  • do you think it would be possible to replace the pulleys with sprokets and a chain for no slip?..if so how would this help/not help.

  • @ShapeGal you could but you will have to build some other clutching system

  • @drjakeestlund would any of the belt tensioners work if i put them on because i have a 13 inch on the rear and a 2 inch on the front

  • @ShapeGal Like on a Mini-Bike ?

  • I've got a 9" o the engine and a 2.5" on the back. Would you call that overkill?

  • @Alphageek12 i bet it will fly but its gonna have a hell of a time taking off without stalling or flipping over backwards

  • @goodolboy79 lol, no. There's not enough power to make the front wheels leave the ground, let alone flip the mower. And thanks to a custom built clutch system I made, it doesn't stall when I launch it. It does fly, my guess is about 40, 50mph. My friends going to drive along side me in his truck to tell the top speed.

  • @Alphageek12 i had almot no belt slip i could pull a wheelie through all gears (when i sat back on the seat)

  • @Alphageek12 what side a brand of engine do you have?

  • @drjakeestlund 8 hp Briggs and Stratton. Bypassed the governor so I think it revs about 5,000

  • @drjakeestlund Briggs 8hp

  • @drjakeestlund how fast does it go ?

  • @Alphageek12 id call it fast.

  • What size pulleys do you have at the moment because in one vid it says you have one size and in this one it says you have another size?

  • my transmission has a bolt on pulley do i need a hole new transmission plate

  • i have a rear engine mower an ariens model rm80 this is my firsdt time actually building something this substantial but the gears are just the one on the mower the one on the transmission and the one on the clutch plus the drive pully but i don't see how the belt moving between the engine the trany and the clutch makes axel move shoould i switch out the pully on the transmission? please help

  • How fast does it go???

  • How fast does it go??

  • also how do you make a foot throttle when full throttle is the cholk?

  • @elliot381 Choke and throttle are seperate.

  • i have an craftsman lt4000 kholer 14hp and it has the clutch and inddler pullys at the front so it restricts me from getting a bigger pully can i move the clutch and iddler pulley or will it mess it up? or do you have a better way of doing it? want to change the front and back pully to make it go fast, thanks.

  • what do you suggest i do if i cannot weld? I just changed the pulleys but they slip and slap cuz there isnt enough tension and I just have the one stock idler that essentially does jack shit!

  • @JohnDeere1317 You need to find a few that just bolt on I dont know where youd find the but i have a sears and it has bolt on ones so good luck

  • i have a 4 inch pulley on the rear, how do you keep your gear shift from hitting the drive belt when you change gears? my gear shift is in the middle of the mower it is a 5 speed when i go over to 5 gear my gear shift will hit my drive belt and kick the gear shift back over to 4 th gear, what can you do to stop the belt from hitting the gear shift?

  • @kentuckyredneck18

put some pullys in to mover the belt away from the shifter and get lil longer belt

  • your lucky my simplicity makes it impossible to put a small one on the back

  • WHERE EXACTLY DID YOU GET THE PULLEYS WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE STORE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @andy72xbox shoppers supply but its only location is in iowa you will have to go to a farm farm store in your area like a hardware hank or something or got to a place that sells and repairs mowers

  • @drjakeestlund ok thanks

  • nice job, love the skid plate too

  • where did you get your pulleys, or do you know of a good place to get them

  • @andy72xbox local farm or hard were store

  • Stock pulleys are usually 5 1/4" front to a 8" in the rear its basic math...

5" front to a 5" rear give you a 1-1 ratio.. one turn of the engine one turn of the rear pulley..

7" front to a 2.5" gives you a 1 turn of the engine spins the rear pully 2.8 times.. so do the math. Stock mowers 6" front to a 8" rear so the engine has to spin faster just to get the rear end to spin once.

    I hope this helps guys

  • @jenniesboy Thank You!!!

  • where did you find a pulley that would fit on the motor? i cant find one.

  • i have a 6 inch pully in the front 3 inch in the back on my mower its not done yet

  • is it possible to swap the large pully from the back axle to the engine, and the small pully from the engine and put it on the axle?

  • @emfjohn Did that on mine, but had to relocate the clutch pulley further away from the engine because it would hit the large pulley on the engine. Doing this made mine do almost 40 mph.

  • good video man. nice music by the way! Listen to That Lonesome Song- Jamie Johnson

  • my belt is tight and everything and i put 8 inch on front and 4 inch on back and my belt constanly falls off, what can i do to prevent this

  • @moto38rider29 push the clutch in if it falls off add some belt gaurds to keep it supported

  • @drjakeestlund I like the extra idler pulleys, really helps with belt tension, I would like to comment, if you dont mind, that you would get better results/less slippage at rear pulley if you put idlers between clutch and trans drive pulley and brought the belt together in the middle instead of spreading apart. It will put your belt in better contact with the pulley, more friction less slip. I found this out quickly after burning up a few aluminum pulleys before I got my cast iron installed.

  • yeah ... i have the same question as benpie12

  • can u just switch em and keep th same belt?

  • Whats the smallest pulley you can put on the rear?

  • @mach1blk04 proly 2 1/2 in if you go to small there aint enough surface area for the belt to grab on and you loose power

  • I just subbed. Great video! My friend and I are currently building a mower so if it's okay I will have some questions for you I am sure. :)

  • im not sure if you didnt say it or i just didnt hear what size pulley do you have in front?

  • how do you find pullys with splines on them.or can you just change the jack shaft.

  • where do you get pullys that have splines.

  • I understand that pulleys give you speed, but how dose it do this and how do you place them.

  • i want my mower to do about 20 mph...wat size pullies would i need?? thanks

  • the best pullies to use is a 12inch in the front and a 2inch in the back the ones you put on is only 15mph more 12inch and 2inch in creases by 35 mph

  • i have a 18 inch on fron and a inch on the back. i go tthe 1 inch back one off a gas honda airc omprssor.lol

  • Enough pulleys?

  • good idea with the 2 idle pulleys, so both sides stay tight

  • can you have a small pully in front and big in rear to go fast please message me

  • other way around big if front small reer for high rpm

  • where would i buy the pulleys?

  • tractor supply or local farm store

  • Is it hard to change the pulles

  • depends on the condition the mower was in its not to hard

  • is this a tecumseh trasaxle?

  • yes it is

  • ok so larger upfront and smaller in back???

  • yep

  • did u weld the pulleys on.cause i got a craftsman im working on and the pulley hole doesnt match up with the shaft.any help?

  • you could weld it on but its a waste of supplys better off findin a pully of same size

  • ight thanks for the help

  • hey, where is the best place to buy the pulleys for these things, nd what is the best combination if i wanted to do around 30-35 mph

  • 6inch engine pully and a 3 1/2 to 3inch rear pully should be about 35 or so depending on the rear end........ and you should beable to get them at your local farm store like a tractor supply or a hardware store

  • hey i like your transmission plat

    ;0-

  • Wondering if you could help me man, I have a John Deere LX172. I want it to go fast, it it 100% stock, I am switching out the Kawasaki for a Briggs at the moment. I can not put a bigger pulley on the front because my tensioner and clutch pulley are right by the engine pulley, and I have tried and I can not get the pulley off of the transmission, anything would help.

  • take a torch and heat the shaft on the rear end then hold the pully and use a bolt and hit the shaft with a hammer

  • Thanks buddy.

  • dose this work on a singel geard lawnmower??? thanks

  • im sure it would depending on the gear ratio it has

  • ok... thanks

  • what transaxle is it looks stout. i got peerless 206 under my mower, works very well no reverse chain to worry about.

  • i keep reverse lol but i do run nondetergent motor oil in the rear end for better lube

  • what size was your belt after pulley change?

  • you will mave to measuer they are all diffrent

  • i have a few questions where do you get the pulleys? do i need a new belt? and about how much did that cost?

  • yes you will newed new belt, order pulleys offline

  • is all u did was move the one from the engine to the tranny an the one of the tranny to the engine ang i made my pulleys just welded washers in them i think i can do this stuff good im only 13 years old

  • i went and bougt pullys for mine... if i read you comment right you say you welded washers in your pullys?

  • yep

  • no, u have to buy new ones because the shaft sizes are different

  • Cool video. Very important info for those just starting out.

  • how fast will it go with those pullies?

  • lil over 40

  • local hardwere store or farm store

  • i think i got a 7 or 8 on the tranny and a 3 or 4 on the motor i well check it the 1st um so can i switch them around

  • proly not they will have a diff shaft size you will have to spend a coupl bucks and buy them

  • shit were can i get them at

  • great video i am going to make one now when i get my other tractors how many hp is that

  • and did you have to take the transaxle off to put the 3.5" on the transaxle

  • ya it makes it that much easier cuz if the original pully is seized on it helps to have it down were you can work on it

  • Hopefully you might know the answer. My John deer riding mower's pulley bearings are messed up. I need to exchange it with another. I don't know how to take off the pulley. Can you help me?

  • would you be able to email me a pic or make a video of the pullys? words just cant discribe like a visual

  • Well Tomorrow I will try to make a video and upload it on here. I just didn't know if there was a universal way of taking one off.

  • ove seen so many diffrent types its hard to say what one you would have

  • thank u for this vid i previously bought to none running lawn mowers and got both of them to run and i sold one for 230 and im spendein it on the other to build racer and i was wonderin if u knew how much those pulleys were ty five star vid:)

  • the front pulley ran me bout $15 at my local hardware store and the back was about 8 bucks they are a weld it your self pulley so you have to buy a sleeve that fits the shaft then you weld the pulley to the sleeve

  • Thanks for this vid, i will try this on my crappy Murray 12.5hp!
