1/4 cup of vanilla? Vanilla extract contains alcohol so you might want to cut back of the amount you use. I additionally poured too much (just a little over a tablespoon) vanilla in my yams and they made me "tipsy."
@SpikeNRoxi the other version, If you're used to how it is done in the south, the other version is better. This was very flavorful though but TOO sweet because of the corn syrup.
Seriously, you should have seen my husband's Swedish family's eyes when I served my yams with marshamallows browned on top. Let's say that every marshmallow was left to the side of the plate :)
