The arabs themselves always denied the existance of a palestinian people until the 1960's, when some arab nationalists, muslim extremists and the Egyptian goverment decided to create the PLO as a new weapon againt the state of Israel. As a Jordanian, Egyptian of Syrian the arab cannot claim ownership over Tel-Aviv, Tzfat, Jaffa or Beer-Sheva, but as a "palestinian" he could easily claim the entire land of Israel belongs to his people and to seek the destruction of the Jewish state.

Oh no. First of all, there were no Palestinians at the time. The ones called "Palestinians" then were the Jews of Palestine. Palestinian Arabs were simply Arabs. With no objection from Arabs themselves. "Palestine" as a word survived in Europe and America, but died out in the Middle East.
