Plus the fact that the 2 leagues are called the American and National leagues, so it would be odd to say "National Champions" or "American Champions"

Surely replacing 'American' and 'National' with sponsors would make more sense, to avoid statements like 'Phillies are best in the world' when they just beat Tampa Bay? NFL dont call their winning team world champs nor the NHL no MLS so why does this make MLB different. As for foreign players, name 30 who aren't from Japan, South America or Nick Markakis (Greek)...

It actually makes more sense for the Blue Jays to be in the American league; they're in North America but not in the US nation.

Bud Selig incompetently dealt with the weather problems in this World Series. It was a good World Series in spite of his ineptitude. I would have booed him if I were there as well.
