  • Well hello handsome.

  • How come out of all of the monotron videos ive watched, I have never seen this one!

    Awesome stuff

I have a couple of videos (sound only) of monotron music

  • @duffy123123 Thanks my friend, I will check out your videos!

  • I'm getting a monotron for christmas this year and I'm looking forward to making these sort of sounds!

  • @goldmoogle Its great fun. You definitely have to work with it, but you would be surprised at the music that you can make with this thing.

  • Oh my god...this sounds so sexy! I love it. Its like 70's porn music!

  • @Paperhouse81 Thanks that is exactly what I was going for!!! ;0)

  • @soundofseventythree You really impressed me with this. Good job!

  • @Paperhouse81 Thank you my friend! :)

  • @soundofseventythree You are welcome.

  • Finally, a Monotron video that doesn't sound like someone torturing a mosquito! Excellent job, nice tune too...

    Cheers!

  • @PaulFitzZaland Hehe thank you! That is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish with this video is use the Monotron in a musical way instead of for noise. Thanks again! :)

  • awesome, dude

  • @MrChaleDrumStyle Thank you!

  • This is my favorite Monotron performance on YouTube. If you were a Korg sales representative, you could simply put an affiliate link on this video and then go about your business. Let me rephrase that - Korg owes you 5% sales commission for about 100 monotrons, miniKPs, and Kaossilators. With this (seemingly) simple performance, you have achieved the status of "demigod" in the pantheon of YouTube musicians. Go forth and build temples to worship the likes of Samwell and Ronald Jenkees. PEACE!

  • @desktorp Thank you!!! I would just love it if KORG would send me new gear for free so I could demo it for them and make videos. That would be great! Thanks again for your support!!!

  • @soundofseventythree update: got my monotron and minikp; this is now an instructional video! Wooo!

  • @desktorp Awesome! Hope you enjoy them and get good use out of them.

  • Monotron is a great toy for us older boys. I love to play with mine through headphones when my wife is snoring too loud for me to sleep! I gotta say that you have mastered it as an instument!

  • @thatrvguy Thank you and I agree it's a great little instrument!

  • Great demo! Thinking about buying both sometime in the future

  • @dabstrat Thank you! I think they go great together.

  • F*****g awesome, man! You´re a great musician!

  • @FlintFandango Thank you my friend!!!

  • there is not a 1/4 out but an 1/8 out. It also has a 1/8 in so you can run your other gear through it's filter. It does noise really well and does have a range of sound. It has many octaves of range. Check out my review of it on my channel if you get a chance I talk about it in a little more depth. Have a safe trip!

  • so is this basically a stylophone made by korg? can you out the sound directly from this thing to an amp? i am going on a long trip soon and I was looking for a small, inexpensive synth of some sort for said voyage.

  • @Zedzilla You will likely be happier with a kaossilator or nintendo ds with korgs ds10 or m01. Unless you are just an analog purist this will likely get boring without other gear.

  • @soundofseventythree well, i consider myself rather handy as a beatsmith, so i'm more concerned with range/variety of tones and whether this has 1/4'' out so i can play it thru an amplifier. i'm just going to record whatever doodles i get out of it and then use acid pro from there. also, i was deffo thinking of getting a few things, among them the kaossilator the 2 ds games you named ha ha ha

  • i dig, this is awesome

  • @eddy67 thanks!

  • beautiful.... :-) i wish all synths were this cheap and amazing

  • @kragle2008 me too! ;-)

  • super cool sound!

  • @hairpinturns Thank you!!! :)

  • @soundofseventythree did you double track or eq the monotron or is it really that fat sounding? Sounds good man. What the best way to run this little guy into something else to add reverb and such?

    Thanks

  • @MacDrevi0us I did not double track, its just the natural analog fatness of this little beast! I like to run it into a Korg mini-KP to add reverb, delay, and other effects. Great combination! Hope this helps!!!

  • @soundofseventythree Awesome! But i mean what cable setup do you use to run this out of something into something else?

    Thanks

  • @MacDrevi0us 1/8 inch out to RCA in of mini-KP.

  • cool stuff man

  • @thebuggg thanks!!!

  • I NEED one of those!! Hell yeah! LMAO!

  • hey man, what are you using to play? a simple pen? or is it anything special? i've tried some pens but just in case, dont want to break this cool thingy :D

  • @Romanchelo01 Its a stylus for a Nintendo DSi. Works great! Hope this helps.

  • That was great!

  • @OrganBea Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

  • AWESOME nice play on the monotron, real analog power rocks!

  • @Arcadesaver hey thanks!!! :D

  • What are the settings ur using it sounds amazing

  • @musicmentalwebsite hey thanks! Unfortunately I don't remember at this point. :( The synth does not have that much control, so I am sure if you play around you can find it. I also believe I ran this through a mini-kp to add delay and or reverb to the signal - very important. Anyway, thanks for listening and I hope this helps!

  • love that monotron+reverb thing :)

  • @jackstrikergraphics hey thanks man!!! :D

  • Gotta love this, bought myself one today. Already got a bassline, now to record the rest of the song. Cheers!

  • @Martzoerst thanks my friend. Have fun with your monotron!

  • weeeeee cute song! how long does the battery life on the monotron last?

  • @killforfiend thanks. Honestly I have no idea. Korg may have something about it in their documentation. I've not had a problem with it. I think I am still on my first set of batteries.

  • @killforfiend Long enough to practice and record an entire song with 7 monotron tracks (feel free to check it out on my channel) [advert over] - and that's not even with alkaline batteries, I'm using NiMH rechargeables.

  • I don't think I would quite describe it as a "stylophone on steroids". Did you see the video review I posted here on youtube? I talk about the important points there and hopefully convey the limits of this little synth. For the price I totally feel you get your money's worth, but you have to work with the little guy. For me though that is part of the fun of these little instruments, coaxing musical sounds from what many consider "toys". Hope this helps!

  • You've just got me interested in the Monotron for the first time :-) Is it like a "Stylophone on steroids" as you make it look, or is that a bit misleading?

  • This looks pretty awesome! only one question: Can you connect it to a keyboard and use the keys off the keyboard instead of just the ribbon keyboard on the synth? because i cant imagine u can play much on such a small ribbon..... hit back! x

  • @klikom8 probably not. it does not support midi control.

  • haha, nice lyrics:

I.. I... I... So that, yes! This: mmmmmmmmmmm...

    (according to youtube)

  • @cougarten lol where does youtube show you lyrics to videos?

  • @soundofseventythree

    youtube.cöm/account#playback/captions

    screencast.cöm/t/Y2I1Zjg4OG

  • @soundofseventythree on the red square next to hd marked as CC

  • @soundofseventythree click on the 'cc' button and choose 'transcribe audio' for amusing results.

'and they should be thirteen socks'

  • @RussellmusPrime yeah very entertaining!!! :)

  • Very very Cool!!

    You are the Best !!!

  • Very nice!! Best monotron video I've seen so far

  • @vhmunhoz Thank you!!! A lot of the vids I was finding were of people not actually making any real music with it. So when I got mine I wanted to make a video featuring it making music. Its quite a limited little synth, but for $60.00 I'd say you get more than you pay for. Korg could have a real interesting little analog synth on their hands if they expand it some. I would love to see them make a true-analog micro series MS-20. Anyway thanks for watching!!!

  • Great stuff

  • @iromeku thank you! :D

  • nicly done

  • @2salzig2spucknapp thanks so much!

  • Well done. That was exactly what I was looking for: a real monotron song.

  • @xWintermutex hey thanks! Was hoping to do something truly "musical" rather than "experimental" with the monotron. Thanks again for listening!

  • As you said, finally some music emanating from the monotron instead of the usual boring noises. Well done.

  • @sasarasa88 Thanks so much!

  • @soundofseventythree I already have a mini KP and will be getting a monotron as soon as it is widely available.

I would really love it if you posted more experiments using the monotron+mini kp. It's a powerful combination

  • @sasarasa88 I'll see what I can do. I was thinking of doing another video of the Monotron in the role of bass synth.

In the meantime check out the review of the Monotron I just did, it includes some sections of me playing the Monotron through the Mini-KP.

    Thanks for watching! :)

  • Very cool. The sliding between notes sounds superb & shows this little beauty can be used for more than just modulated FX type sounds. Good stuff.

  • @Dogboy73 thanks man!

  • Cool song! Much better than most of what you hear out there...

  • @cjedegennaro well i just wanted to do a little more than the bloops and bleeps, not that there is anything wrong with bloops and bleeps. In fact the Monotron excels at them, but it can do more than that and that is what I wanted to showcase here.
