May I correct you again? You've mixed up with the old with the new Freddy freddy the pictures. The'' new'' Freddy is the first from the film of a nightmare on elm street. (You can see the burns), the'' old'' Freddy was burned so many times. (Eg from the Freddy vs. Jason) So you've just mixed up the pictures. And to me the new Freddy from Freddy vs. Jason is the best. (Which does not look so funny. :)
I think that no one can replace the old freddy. he is a classic killer. and the old one is more scary because in 90's the horror films were more scary and the keep you stressed and you are afraid every second. Now the scary films are more focused on blood and killing mass of people! So definitely the old freddy.

I think the most important thing that noone realizes is that jackie is NOT trying to replace Mr England; and that WHY he plays him differently. Another point that people realize is that Jackie plays Freddy the way that Wes Craven, the man that invented Freddy, wanted him to be. @ViolentPony old freddy started off serious and dark, then in freddy 3 he made a few jokes and by freddy 4 he was an outright clown. I think freddy was best captured as a character (ie how craven intended him to be) in freddy 1, 3, 7 and in this new one. it all really depends on who the director is as to how freddy behaves. i personally enjoy seeing freddy take peoples deepest fears/personality flaws and use it to kill them...but I can go without the theatrics

@OregonPuffs Exactly. It was more a re imagining. Yes they used old things but made a lot of good changes. The micronap element was the best for me. Think, in the originals as long as you stayed awake you are safe. In the new one, after 72 hours being awake dont help you. Freddy can pop out of nowhere which was awesome, and added much more urgency for the characters. I hope a sequel really goes into that aspect cause the pharmacy scene was my favorite.

Personally, I like the new one. I mean, Englund's Krueger was sort of scary but after the first movie he and the entire series became way to campy and ridiculous. Haley's Krueger was way scarier. The main reason people hate the new makeup is cause it does not look like the originals. An actual burn victims facial features are distorted. Your ears, nose, lips and eyelids go first and thats what the remake shows. Also the burns are different all over his face. I love how you can see the muscle and tendons and veins move when he talks. They had to go with a different look cause no matter what they did, they were gonna catch flak for it. I applaud them

I Honastly think the new one is better cause the addition to the movie,like its not a FULL remake of the origanal,they added TONS of new stuff,and the graphic of the camra on the new one is more HD,compared to the old one,and finally the face,the face is more detailed in the NEW nightmare on elm street,the old one looks too orange and red but the new one is more detailed,its not as red and orange as the old one,Thats my honest opinion,i think the new one is way better!!!!:)

@OregonPuffs Exactly. It was more a re imagining. Yes they used old things but made a lot of good changes. The micronap element was the best for me. Think, in the originals as long as you stayed awake you are safe. In the new one, after 72 hours being awake dont help you. Freddy can pop out of nowhere which was awesome, and added much more urgency for the characters. I hope a sequel really goes into that aspect cause the pharmacy scene was my favorite.

Personally, I like the new one. I mean, Englund's Krueger was sort of scary but after the first movie he and the entire series became way to campy and ridiculous. Haley's Krueger was way scarier. Also, some of you are saying that molesting a kid's worse than killing them. It's not! Plus the molestation background's much more believable. I mean it was pretty obvious old Freddy wasn't just killing for the hell of it. I've always been a fan, and since day one, I'd assumed he'd raped them first.

@26michaeluk It's not that the new one is bad, it's a good movie. I just don't see the point of making a new movie of an already great movie, it kind of ruins it. I don't really care much about it, but as I said I don't see the point :P But I'm open minded, so I don't judge people for liking something else. They made Freddy into a joke. I would certainly not want another cheesy sequel with Robert. It was time for a change. Yes the first is great, but its very dated. They should have kept it the same or at least made the murderer aspect of it the main talk while the molestation thing should be only hinted at, as in the originals. They went the way the did cause of repressed memory syndrome as a main plot point. It explains why Freddy came back when he did, unlike the originals. Its also a real thing

The main reason people hate the new makeup is cause it does not look like the originals. An actual burn victims facial features are distorted. Your ears, nose, lips and eyelids go first and thats what the remake shows. Also the burns are different all over his face. I love how you can see the muscle and tendons and veins move when he talks. They had to go with a different look cause no matter what they did, they were gonna catch flak for it. I applaud them

The first comment I am going to add, is that the reason the original Freddy Krueger is more scary to me, because: He is more unpredictable, How he is always laughing when killing, his voice doesn't ironically sound like puss in boots and the original actor had the character down.

Robert Englund made Freddy who he is. And I mean, while I wouldn't want to see the ridiculously goofy FD:TFN Freddy again, I could definitely see Englund playing him again. Freddy's original concept was a very old, sick, perverted man anyway. I always sort of pictured him like, if Albert Fish showed up in your nightmares.
