  • I just love this song. Wendy is the best name ever.

  • I was named for this song.

  • The Beach Boys are the greatest band in American history.

    Enough said.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • The Beach Boys had talent. Today's artists are more style than substance.

  • I wonder if Brian name his daughter Wendy after this song?

  • @Desiree50able he did.

  • Timeless, there will never be another sound like the Beach Boys

  • I like the Decendents version bettter

  • They don't show enough of Brian on this clip! Carl looks so cute, and Dennis is lovin the attention :)

  • something wrong with this-no guitars!!!

  • A valiant effort!

  • Did they forget to plug Brian's bass in?

  • fantastic song dennis is quality on the drums aswell!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What's Mike Love doing? Is he doing a Howdy Doody imitation, or what? The rest of the group is great.

  • Ze kunnen geen engels PEDO'S

  • Dennis Wilson is a pimp. the producer of the show knew it. Hell, you see him more than brian. They knew what puts butts in the seats. Sheeeeee-it

  • This is the song I was named after :)

  • @wfelizali Wendy may be a nickname for Guinevere,Gwendolyn................the GUIN part means WHITE in Old English

  • BANDS TODAY SOUND LIKE CRAP LIVE , NOT BAD .. IN 1965 ..

  • Why on EARTH would the camera man zone in on Dennis playing DRUMS during the GUITAR solo?? ;(

  • @worschtee1919 Thats exact what I ask myself every time I watch and enjoy this vid.

  • @worschtee1919 Are kidding me ? Can't you hear all those soaked panties screaming..

  • Brian channeling his inner Donald Trump at 0:49

  • Don't remember this one.. it happens.. but ya know they sure don't look alone to me, lol

  • Brian's song-writing & studio-production skills were already expanding at such a fast & complex rate by this stage, that the studio-version of "Wendy" is already a touch difficult to re-produce on-stage .. at least using the very confined instrument line-up that The Boys used in this, the still-early stage of their performing career. Re-listen to both the final album studio cut + the backing-track alone, in isolation, to hear this more-advanced, increasing-complexity & lush-ness, for yourself.

  • muito bom!

  • emailperson8-I'm not stupid i know wat year it is now....I was wanting to know what year that was

  • the really wonderful great amazing absolutely fantastic thing about youtube is you can leave a comment to a video, throw your shit in, and nobody really gives a fuck..........

  • What year was this????

  • @emailperson8 no I meant like the year of this video....i'm pretty sure what the current year is right now

  • @emailperson8 thats not what he meant, the year this was made.

  • Why does Mike sound double tracked, or is someone harmonising with him?

  • Funny how the teen girls scream for the good looking trio

  • Carl on the fender jazzmaster didn't fudge it. But low tech for sure. Pretty sweet for kids just out of high school (I think Carl was still in school). The ED show was like vaudville...do your 3 minutes and make room for the next act. No time for sound tweeking.

  • Wow! guys that play their own instruments, don't do any choreographed dancing, with top notch songs. What a concept.

  • how was the video shot that it looks like this??? Its so clear!

  • Man i wish im in 1964 to by brand new 64 impala

  • YOUTUBE THE DESCENDENTS WENDY

  • oops you are right should have known that-Carl is the lead guitar. Oh boy I bet Murry W. raised holy hell after that

  • I am sure this was the 1st time the Beach Boys were on Ed Sullivan, and this was the 1st song they did that night. As a big BB fan, trying to convince everyone that they could match the Beatles, I was really shocked when Al flubbed the opening riff! That was in 1964 and I was beginnig to think that was something I imagined, as I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere in the various BB books.. The power of YouTube!

  • @mab31347 That wasn't Al that flubbed the opening riff.Al isn't playing the white guitar Carl is.

  • @joycejnn : Good eye. Was Mike doing a Howdy Doody imitation during the song or what?

  • KL THERE IS A SONG ABOUT MY NAME :L

  • me too

  • My favourite song!!!! It has to be, My name is Wendy!

  • @wendytwizzle SAME!! :D

  • @pornwarehouse01 This is one of my favorites.

  • I can't believe people don't listen to this music anymore!!!

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • I bet Carl got an earful from Murray Wilson after hitting that wrong note on the intro..

  • I think Carl was only 16-17?

  • @rgs4x Just remember that back then, the voting age was 21. Today, it's 18.

  • I think ar was only 16-17?

  • @rgs4x awwwwwwww <3 Carl <3

  • awesome!!! great music...it was summer, '65-69. we were cruising, sitting at the beach or at Sunset Freeze in Lahaina, right across from the Banyan Tree, cars parked doors open the kids hanging out, radios blaring Beach Boys songs. Surfed at the Lahaina harbor till sunset. good memories.

  • Man, the camera peeps obviously loved Dennis. And who didn't? ....but c'mon, staying on Dennis during the solo at 1:11?

  • sounds so nice.. and its like fuckin 1964!

  • actual singing and playing, even with a mistake at the beginning! Yes!

  • I'm sure that anyone who is a critic of any of the beach boys does so in good nature.

They are a cornerstone of American music and were true Superstars.

  • @TE1969Boss They continued to have hits even during the British Invasion.

  • 1:12 Dennis winks at a girl! What a stud!!!

  • I Love Brian Wilson xDDD <3

  • 1:11 guitar solo

  • wow they sound TIGHT live and love that Fender !

  • mike love...ugh.hes such as stuck up goon.talented yes but his personality wasn't good.

  • No, Dennis Wilson is not a better drummer than Ringo. I hate defending Ringo, especially when we're talking about someone like Dennis (my second favorite Beach Boy), but, no...

  • como comparan ringo con dennis x supuesto q ringo es mil veces mejor no ma

  • Dennis was a good drummer, but a clubber non the less. To say he was better than Ringo is not the most accurate statement, seeing that Ringo had a more broad range of tempo, precision, and overall emotion that continually changed throughout his time in the fab four.

  • Dennis Wilson was a better drummer than Ringo

  • @Javier23gol FLIP Wilson was a better drummer than Ringo!

  • @Javier23gol Every drummer in England was a better drummer than RS.

  • @Javier23gol you are full of it. Ringo is one of the best drummers in rock'n'roll.

  • @Javier23gol

Interviewer: "Is Ringo Starr the best drummer in the world?"

John Lennon: "...He isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles."

.... But Ringo had charisma, and that goes a long way.

  • @Javier23gol I like both Ringo and Dennis...I'd have to say it was a toss up.

  • @Javier23gol That's not saying a whole lot.......

  • @IfEveryWordISaid How's this. Find me another performance of the boys performing Wendy during this period. I guess improvisation doesn't exist in your eyes...

  • Mike Love looks like he needs to go have a shit.

  • Saw them at the Ventura County fair in 1981 or 82. All I know is they were all there. Brian even came out for a few songs. Dennis sang you are so beautiful to me. They sounded so good. My mom took me as a birthday present and I didn't even know who it was until the concert started. I never wanted it to end.

  • dennis wilson is perfect!!!!

  • Gosh I love the beach boys!!! And I wasn't even born until the 80s!!

  • I wonder if Dennis had met Charles Manson at this point in his life? had the world by the tail and screwed it up big time, really big time. great song, one of my favorite beach boys hits. such a messed up group of guys. sad for dennis and carl. and brian also.

  • I love the Beach boys!!!

  • I like this live recording but Dennis' drums are mixed too loud and i dont even hear Brian's bass. Oh well, beggers cant be choosers. They still sound good live here.

  • @lBStrokin Oh God, you're a twat.

  • @ecnalubma696969 Hey Ecnalubma....you are what you eat, dickhead.

  • @7mandoblu: Yes he did. Carnie was named after his favorite flower...a shortened form of the word "Carnation".

  • AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING!

    Beach Boys THE BEST!

    THANKS "h4kgyt"

    Beach Boys THE BEST!

  • I wonder if Brian Wilson named his super hot singing daughter Wendy Wilson of Wilson Phillips after this song?

  • @7mandoblu of course he did dennis plays camco drums

  • @spacepatrolman

    Camco is now Drum Workshop,BTW.

  • @sixtieskid062 Thats interesting camco became tama tama became pearl there was some pearl drums with tama bass drum pedals

  • So funny did AL always look like he was 50???

  • @blueticecho Carl didn't mess up the beginning jack ass

  • @kya1260am Um yeah he did...and apparently everyone BUT you knows how this intro goes...he missed the Bflat by two frets and then corrected it, the error even added an extra beat to the measure causing Dennis to technically restart the timing of the song...but if you are so sure he didnt flub the intro, post another performance of him playing this way and I will believe you.

  • mike the asshole id say

  • Thanks! It's great to see & hear a "live" performance, without any post-production spin control.

  • They were wearing these clothes when I saw them live. They always wore these outfits on stage come to think of it.

  • I love Dennis so friggin' much, OMFG. Soooooo much :) And Brian ain't too bad either :)

  • I wonder how Carl could have messed up I thought that the Sullivan people made these groups put down the musical track at the dress rehearsal and then only do the vocals at the live performance?

  • @blueticecho the Sullivan people may have done that at a later date, but most, if not all of the bands played live in the early 60's, the Beatles did on their initial appearances in '64.

  • Despite the mess up by Carl at the beginning .. the Beach Boys were for the most part a really incredible live band from the early 60's to the mid 70's.

It's really unbelievable how much of the cool factor that Dennis Wilson brings in. He has that confident cockiness with his "beatle haircut" He is a complete contrast from the rest of the band.

  • LOL @ Mike, Brian, and Dennis Mike lookslike he's lost Brian while checking his self out LOL(how cute) is trying hard not to laugh at Mike and Dennis while camera keeps going on him is looking like 'Why is the camera going on me so much?"

  • Mike Love's style could best be described as wind-up-toy-soft. (I hope he doesn't sue me or anything for saying this.)

  • OMG! How cute is this! Brilliant video!

  • Carl, Carl what went wrong? You practiced.... that intro for so, so long....

  • @brianwayland LOL, but what's wrong with his intro?

  • @begbieboy yeah hahaha

  • The shirts look nice.

  • Nice shirts.

  • Mike Love looks lost and Brian is trying hard not to laugh and checking himself out cute and sexy

  • Not a complicated song. Minimal instrumentation. Vocally flawless piece from a great album.

  • ヤマタツさんにカバーしてもらいたいです。「ON THE STREET CORNER 4」でいかがでしょうか?

  • Mike love is looking for a Wendy in the audience LOL

  • cool guitar Wilson

  • No words... So great!! Take me back!

  • The estate of Ed Sullivan should post alot of his good stuff.even Topo LOL

  • Just look at those guys how cute were they?

  • @Desiree50 Very cute sista I agree

  • all The Beach Boys Sexy and Handsome MM Dennis getting all the closeups LOL So funny RIP Dennis and Carl

  • @coolsweetgroovy This song is for you Love Desiree

  • @Desiree50 Oh Sis LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Wendy what went wrong

  • Dig that bum note at the beginning!

  • This stripped down, basic version of the overproduced studio recording is so much better, even though the harmony vocals of Al and Carl are just a bit weak at times. Denny's simple backbeat is perfect, as is Brian's falsetto. Never get tired of this video.

  • @tubularme666 It's from the Ed Sullivan Show, September 27, 1964. They also played "I Get Around."

  • the drummer's hella hot

  • the Descendents cover is a fuckin joke they took the magic out of it and made it generic trash

  • pete dont play it again please wendy xxx

  • Hmm. Much prefer the Descendents' cover.

  • THIS SOUNDS TOO GOOD

  • Vocals sound more chilled out here like it

  • The Beach Boys hot with Bieber hair

  • Al playing an RM import? Interesting.

  • Is this from the Lost Concert in 1964?

  • @1obxeclipsedriver This is from Ed Sullivan didn't you see Ed introduce them?

  • @coolsweetgroovy My bad... You're right, this is the Ed Sullivan Show.

  • @1obxeclipsedriver That's ok sir P.S. has anyone ever told you you looklike Dennis Wilson?

  • @coolsweetgroovy You would be the first, and he actually died four years TO THE DAY that I was born.

  • @1obxeclipsedriver Wow I'm glad you took that as a compliment

  • @coolsweetgroovy Well, I haven't ever gotten compared to any of the Beach Boys before, so I took as such. :)

  • @1obxeclipsedriver Can you sing like Dennis Wilson and Do girls go crazy when they see you? Only curious

  • @coolsweetgroovy That picture of me was taken in September of last year. I cut all that hair off since it was getting a little out of control. To answer your questions, I sing more like Carl and Mike, and I wish girls went crazy. I DO play the drums though.

  • @1obxeclipsedriver cool girls don't go crazy? LOL

  • @coolsweetgroovy LOL. Actually, NO girls go crazy...

  • @1obxeclipsedriver I still find that hard to believe

  • @coolsweetgroovy Well, I guess it's because I don't sing. I'm too busy playing the drums to really let my voice out.

  • @1obxeclipsedriver So like Dennis you play the drums? cool

  • @coolsweetgroovy Thanks. I've been playing for nearly 12 years.

  • @coolsweetgroovy :) How are things?

  • @1obxeclipsedriver good you?

  • THE FREAKING BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'd love to be in a sandwich between all of The Beach Boys they're all sexy

  • wow tight drum line and I love the fender jag carl has

  • one of my many favs by them

  • Was this performed fully live or are they lip syncing. The drums definitely sound live but the vocals look and sound like they might have been lip synched. Brian kind of looks like the Beatles on Ed Sullivan - a little nervous and a little surprised and bemused by the adoring reactions from the crowd. Funny how they focus so much on Dennis, even during the guitar solo. They must have thought he was the heartthrob.

  • @PaxAmor1 I believe this is totally live. They usually always sang their vocals live. Sometimes they played to the studio backing tracks (see "Please Let Me Wonder" from the 1964 TAMI Show.

  • @PaxAmor1 it is live, some recorded background vocal is added when Mike is singing.

  • brian wilson, wow, what a juggernaut. this song is bubblegum on one level and the precursor to entire genres of music styles. thanks for posting this!

  • I was thinking of this song, and found this video, noticed the date it was uploaded August 27 2009, and today is August 27 2010. The weather is windy... soooo I think of this song!!! Great song!!!

  • WOW this is awesome footage!! always wanted to be in a Brian and Carl Wilson sandwhich.....*sigh* they both look so handsome here!!! incredible audio too....really

  • @avth76 me too

  • at 0:40 al looks constipated, lol, dennis is having the most fun on this, so is
