I Love being Scottish but my borders are clearly defined – the sea, and I associate with all the people of this Island.
Fantastic video, good attention to detail, loved the Mars Bars and Irn Bru, lol. Anyway, stuff that independance shit, Alex bawbag Salmond is nothing more than a wee pro EU dictator, who will destroy Scotland and put us right into Facist Europe. There will be no independant Scotland, just another EU district under that wee fat shite.
As for Salmond offering something he doesn't even have the power to offer, well that just shows the ego of the fat prick and the stupidity of the Scottish people for not guessing that powers like that would be vested in the UK government.
Anyway, I'm bored of talking about this tin pot party in Scotland, a few hours is far too much time spent on their stupidity but I wish you the best as I'm looking forward to watching to watching the car crash when you cut the apron strings
@eurosceptic1 Again you try and avoid my reply's by not posting directly to me. If you read my post below i was reffering to your children going to higher education. And i also stated that "either way" which means if we can or can't use the pound your arguements have been defeated. What currency we use is a minor thing in the grand scale of thing's. So run along and start saving for your childrens future that's if anyone was stupid enough to have children with you.
@eurosceptic1 Rump UK is in the exact same posistion within the EU,when Scotland becomes Independent.According to senior officials off the EU,talking on AFP French news agency.Both would need to renegotiate terms off there entry into the EU.And claims that our re entry can be blocked bye a single member state.were dismissed bye bye lawyers from the EU.Who said a Indy Scotland,could be treated as one of 2 successor states and sepertate Edinburgh seat would would require a simple magority vote..
I finished University 10 years ago so yes I managed to scrape the money together for tuition fees.
As for you (Scotland) not being able to use the pound, that's something you will have to look into. Is is not for me to educate you, the SNP and the Scottish public in general but I'll give you a clue, it has something to do with you not being a part of the UK anymore, you know the way Argentina can't just use the pound if they wanted to. LOL
Plus, Like i said , I'm all for you having independence, it is this devo max idea that I don't like, it sounds like Salmond trying to crawl out of independence and squeeze some more money out of the UK.
No fucking chance, the Scots can leave, they aren't getting any more money out of the UK
The UK also bailed out the Royal bank of SCOTLAND who by the way nearly sent the entire UK under, how I wish you would have had independence before that happened.
Plus you're dreaming if you think you can walk away with the good and not take the bad it would never happen, we probably bomb the fuck out of you before that, so keep dreaming
Plus, I have no desire for Scotland to stay, it would be quite interesting to watch them try and avoid going bankrupt. I'm all in favour of you having a referendum, providing that it is to stay or leave, this devo max crap was not on the table and was not part of the SNP mandate when they went to the election, they ran of a referendum to leave and that is what should happen
Stay or leave. simple choice. No extra Devo Max perks for Scotland, they do well enough already out of the Barnett formula
1) you don't own the oil, private business does, it is the tax that the UK gets, about 8 billion a year, which is a lot but not a huge amount for a country, especially as you would have next to nothing else
2) you may keep some Police and NHS staff but ship building for the UK government? Not a fucking chance, that would be moved to England/Wales straight away
3) you don't just walk away, Scotland would be responsible for a share of the national debt which at the moment is about 2 Trillion
@eurosceptic1 Trying to win an arguement by not replying directly to me is sad. It proves you are intimidated by my arguement. We own the land the oil is in and hence control that oil. And where would england be if it had to pay us for oil? Fuck the ship building! As for the debt it was westminster that took on the debt and westminsters obligation to pay that debt. I will ask again why are you so keen to keep us? ;-)
At the moment Scotland doesn't own shit, those waters at this moment in time are still classed as UK waters. If you left you may argue that they are in Scottish waters and I have allowed for that to happen. The government gives permission for private business to drill, they drill, looking for oil, private business own the all the rigs and equipment, the government get the tax and the tax only, that is what happens now and that wouldn't change, Scotland would just get the tax
@eurosceptic1 It's quite clear that they will be scottish water's when we are independant. As for the oil i know that it's the tax we will recieve but that is alot of money for us and less for you. As for the debt neither of us know what will happen about it so im not prepared to argue with you about it. Ha bomb us now your dreaming. It's simple you would not be on here arguing with me if independence was not good for us and bad for you. You are scared and rightly so. BTW SAS 70% are scots :-)
I was actually here because I heard an SNP arguing on BBC about using the pound as a currency on the TV a couple of days ago. It has now become clear that Scotland wouldn't be able to do that so I thought it was funny that your own politicians don't seem to know what the fuck they are doing.
That shouldn't have surprised me though as Salmond himself ran on independence when he didn't even have the power to be able to give it.
@eurosceptic1 Can't be any worse that your public school boy's. My children will be able to go to higher education can you afford to pay tuition fee's? As for the pound im sure we can use it but either way if your arguement has come down to what currency we will use then you have no arguement left. Just for fun what was the reason stated for scotland not being able to use the pound? And why are you up all night posting on here?
DO NOT listen to Euroscepitic he see's that independence for us is bad for england. That's why he's trying to claim that Good's MUST come through dover and will have import tax increase's we have our own ports why would OUR good's come through england. And another one is that the oil fields are drying up. HA! They have just found another field and more investment has been made. WHEN we get our independence WE will become richer than england OVER NIGHT. That's why there so scared of independence.
Goods do travel on the road, you might have seen the trucks driving up and down the motorway, they aren't do it for the fun of it, they are delivering goods and yes lot of those trucks come over at dover and drive through England.
Can you fly stuff in or ship it in? Yes, but not as cheap, otherwise it would be done already.
You may be oil rich but you are poor in everything else, your whole country is either employed in the UK public sector or unemployed. No private sector
@eurosceptic1 You are a joke. Why would a ship with goods for scotland stop in dover then drive them there by truck? Are you really that stupid? And shipping is cheaper that road haulage. Shame you could'nt afford to go to college show's how much you gov care about the youth in your country. We have a good private sector The whisky market in china/india is growing rapidly we have a strong tourist industry and a finantial industry just behind london. You should look into thing's before you speak!
LOL, Scotland flying high on whiskey and Irn Bru, get a fucking grip, you sound like a fucking retard, you have zero private sector. We sent the UK shipping business up to Scotland because the fact is, without all these public sector jobs there over 80% of Scots would be unemployed.
@eurosceptic1I see you never went into the finance industry or the tourism industry? Even IF 80% were in the public sector that public sector won't just disapear. It would be simply taken under new management (Scottish government). And with the oil revenues there would be more cash for public service's so your point is in no way valid. Did you think all the police/nhs staff would be sacked because we left the union? You are stupid. So why are you so keen to have people think we could'nt survive?
I don't know why pro-Confederate & other secessionists in America don't get off their complaining asses & actually go for their cause like Salmond is doing here?
I'd never want to secede from the US, but they can go if they want!
And..give? Labour had a manifesto commitment to hold a referendum on devolution.
If people elsewhere in the UK want devolution, you shouldn't have voted Labour.
Labour were obliged to honour their commitment to a referendum. The LibDems were also pro-referendum. It had two questions - something we're told is now too difficult to understand
@jistaface I didn't vote labour, so you're saying there should be a referendum on the EU because it was promised, has there been one? Just because a politician says something doesn't mean you should believe them. Look whose in power? the Libdems? Labour? no. Because this is a political union there should only be one parliament, in Westminster. Because the referendum on Scottish unification is a constitutional one, shouldn't everyone in the UK get to vote?
@WuckHunter No, we are repealing an act of the Scottish parliament the 1707 act of union so it is a Scottish issue and is for the Scottish people to decide.
@WuckHunter To clarify more. The UK Labour & Lib Dems 97 manifestos promised referendums in Scotland + Wales to see if we wanted our own parliaments. Without that promise, Scots & Welsh (who once routinely voted Labour) were going to vote loads of nationalist MPs into the house of commons
English voters COULD have stopped those devolution referendums that year by not voting Labour or Lib Dem. But it didn't matter to them
So - referendum - yes-yes vote - Scots parliament reconvened.
While independent, we can sell many commodities to England at full price instead of England dictating a heavily lowered price. Let's see the look on their faces when they have to drink their own lime-filled water!
You do know that the UK is connected to Europe from England and that everything that comes to this island will go through Dover, just wait until the wall is built and England charge a fucking fortune for anything coming through England to go to Scotland.
You better start looking for more oil and IRN BRU because you'll need all the money you can get.
Scotland doesn't make anything so everything will have to be imported and that means big bucks for England.
@eurosceptic1 Good's travelling through england? are you thick? Explain to me why the ship's would stop at dover and not just by-pass england and dock in Glasgow? I know and you know that once were free YOU will have higher petrol price's and WE will have cheaper petrol prices. You are laughable just like your politition's. Keep talking rubbish your undermining your own argument by the obvious lack of intelligence you have and the failed attempt at scare mongering. We are oil rich you are NOT!!
@eurosceptic1 what the fuck do you mean scotland doesn't make anything.
i'll have you know englands oil comes from Scotland and scotland makes lots of money but YOUR government takes it all and keeps it for themselves. so dont EVER say scotland doesn't make anything
Let them have independence, while we are at it build Hadrian's wall again, only this time higher, even better still use a high power laser, cut along the border and push Jockland elsewhere.
@lSOGlXmarksTheScot Lets hope the referendum goes the right way and the English can say goodbye to you lot.
Should it go the wrong way it would be nice for the English to have a vote to say whether we want you lot or not, I already know the result of that one......No we do not.
I'm English and I want them out but think It will be a sad day to see the Union Jack lowered for the last time or until they realise no one will give them hand outs and come crawling back
This video is hilarious. Salmond living off Irn Bru and Mars Bars, the anniversary of Mel Gibson's death, Cameron's Thatcher Calendar (0:43), the C U Jimmy TV heedbutt and of course the Irn Bru powered rocket ship!
Oh - sorry, I get it - a typo. (Argh\big riddy! - I research one-name-study/ prosopography stuff on that period a lot, so that's particularly embarrassing!)
Not trying to incite a pointless YouTube argument, genuinely seeking clarification on this one - as far as I'm aware, Scotland gets a disproportionate amount of funding from Westminster, which keeps medicines that have to be paid for in England and Wales free on the NHS and tuition fees gratis for Scottish students. Am I totally wrong on this one?
Scotland (a) contributes 10% of GDP despite only having about 8.6% population.
(b) for 40 years have contributed massively more in oil revenue alone "than even the nationalists' wildest dreams". (govt. McCrone Report: kept top secret for decades. Successive Labour & Tory Secretaries of State for Scotland received the report. Oil tax paid the UK national debt and MUCH more for 40 years. Thatcher sold our oil rights too, to the Saudis.
@Pepotamo1985 Sorry - addressing your point. Allowing a common pot for fuzzily defined stuff like warfare, millennium domes and olympics, the Barnett formula then distribues a block grant to each nation including England, based roughly on per-head of population. Each parliament then spends it as it sees fit.
The Scots parliament chooses to invest in health, education etc and Westminster, far as I understand gives it to friends of the PM in PPIs or spend it on London projects.
Of course, the Barnett Formula - aka pocket-money - is all decided in secret from a fund that we don't actually know the size of.
Since 2005, we do know that they pissed away enough oil money to have kept every UK child out of povery in my lifetime - and more. we Scots wouldn't have minded that, I think.
But our own country had the worst of everything, and Europe's poorest, whose birthright was stolen, were told "YOU get more than your fair share."
Yes the situation's changed. We had 30 years of being lied to about how poor we were and we've suffered 20 years of ferocious Tory governments who couldn't make mnore than 10 percent of the vote. And happily, the oil lasted more than the 10 years anticipated. AND we have enough even in current reserves to pay our national debt without having to pay the whole UKs. And we have even more untapped reserves off Rockall & west Shetland, + LOADS of wind and water to sell.
the years of lying and tory government are irrelevant as they have now happened and nothing can change that. a wise vote disregards the past and analyses options for the future. even the most pro-Scottish commentators concede that the influence of North Sea Oil is now waning. are there still reserves? sure. are there enough to sustain Scotland on a long-term basis, given the lack of all other forms of industry or economic growth? probably not. go for it though if you want!
@ForzaHardrada The years of Tory government have left literal scars on our landscape. They're assuredly not irrelevant: for example, we have no functional tory party left in Scotland. The years of tory governments (which we have once again) CAUSED our parliament's creation & its current makeup. As for long-term reserves- large untapped oil fields (Atlantic), tremendous windpower potential, fresh water to sell and PRESENT higher productivity per-capita than UK. Plus our people.
PS, my granny, the least political person I ever knew, told me apropos of nothing (we were in Canada at the time) that if I ever vote tory she'll come back and haunt me.
And - fact rather than assumption - Scotland actually has more industry left as a proportion of its economy, than the UK overall. Not that it's a lot, but we haven't got so hopelessly skewed to not-making-anything as England has. So far we've still got functional NHS, hopeful schools & no riots.
@jistaface "i'll never vote tory" is the kind of irrational bias that cripples democracy (same applies to equivalent statements for other parties). people refusing to even consider voting for a party due to past misdemeanors is contrary to progress.
i don't know why you choose to bring England into this. it is accepted fact that England is superior to Scotland in every financial way. the UK is a different matter, because England chooses to support low output principalities like NI & Wales.
Don't be silly. (Actually I didn't say "Ill never vote tory" My granny said I shouldn't)But it happens to be so: I'd never vote fascist or communist either.
The Thatcherites treated Scotland with such ferocity it blighted the lives of my generation: and we still see some of those individual popping up. Their influence is a policy legacy, the vaues & culture of the party. It can now only continue to embody the interests of the super-rich who run it. THAT'S why.
I brought England into it on a very specific note: the economic mix that England depends on is highly skewed towards "services" and finance, and not actually (since Thatcher) producing stuff. My point was that using oil-revenue to invest, or at least pay off debt, Scotland has residual industries to grow again, it can recover a more balanced economy that includes making stuff and food because it didn't go as far down that path as England - specifically - did.
@hassmann2000 Oh I dunno, perhaps the 5 million plus people who live, work, pay taxes there and support the crumbling infrastructure of English cities that have "the unemployed" as their main export? Can't say for sure, just, you know, having a wild stab at a guess.
It's all about saving political face now, we're at risk of cutting our own nose off thinking it will save ours after we dumbly let Labour poison Scotland with anti-tory hate after the miners strike and Poll Tax introduction here, the left jumped on those whilst digging deeper into Scotland getting an almost immovable foothold for decades thanks to constant vilification of anything even slightly Tory minded & this made a very easy path for the antisocial whacko SNP to sneak in & MISrepresent us.

Because the referendum on Scottish unification is a constitutional one, shouldn't everyone in the UK get to vote?
WuckHunter 1 month ago

@eurosceptic1 but you hate europe you hypocrite
3tangle3 1 month ago
@3tangle3
1) I hate the EU, not Europe
2) whether I hate the EU or not I accept that countries in the UK import goods from Europe and when they do, they come via Dover.
3) taking point 2 into account England will charge large sums to pass through England for goods to go through England.
4) Scotland will have no choice but to pay as they will have to apply for membership to the EU and that normally takes 10 years
eurosceptic1 1 month ago

Why have a referendum?
Let them have independence, while we are at it build Hadrian's wall again, only this time higher, even better still use a high power laser, cut along the border and push Jockland elsewhere.
I would not shed one tear saying goodbye.

@lSOGlXmarksTheScot Lets hope the referendum goes the right way and the English can say goodbye to you lot.
Should it go the wrong way it would be nice for the English to have a vote to say whether we want you lot or not, I already know the result of that one......No we do not.

Pepotamo1985 1 month ago
@Pepotamo1985
We ALL were sold a HUGE lie.
jistaface 1 month ago
@Pepotamo1985 Sorry - addressing your point. Allowing a common pot for fuzzily defined stuff like warfare, millennium domes and olympics, the Barnett formula then distribues a block grant to each nation including England, based roughly on per-head of population. Each parliament then spends it as it sees fit.
The Scots parliament chooses to invest in health, education etc and Westminster, far as I understand gives it to friends of the PM in PPIs or spend it on London projects.
jistaface 1 month ago
@Pepotamo1985
Just evil.

@jistaface ugh. that was written in 1974. it may surprise you to learn that the situation has changed somewhat over the last 38 years...
ForzaHardrada 1 month ago
@ForzaHardrada
And we have even more untapped reserves off Rockall & west Shetland, + LOADS of wind and water to sell.
jistaface 1 month ago
@jistaface
the years of lying and tory government are irrelevant as they have now happened and nothing can change that. a wise vote disregards the past and analyses options for the future. even the most pro-Scottish commentators concede that the influence of North Sea Oil is now waning. are there still reserves? sure. are there enough to sustain Scotland on a long-term basis, given the lack of all other forms of industry or economic growth? probably not. go for it though if you want!
ForzaHardrada 1 month ago
@ForzaHardrada The years of Tory government have left literal scars on our landscape. They're assuredly not irrelevant: for example, we have no functional tory party left in Scotland. The years of tory governments (which we have once again) CAUSED our parliament's creation & its current makeup. As for long-term reserves- large untapped oil fields (Atlantic), tremendous windpower potential, fresh water to sell and PRESENT higher productivity per-capita than UK. Plus our people.
jistaface 1 month ago
@ForzaHardrada
So far we've still got functional NHS, hopeful schools & no riots.
jistaface 1 month ago
@jistaface "i'll never vote tory" is the kind of irrational bias that cripples democracy (same applies to equivalent statements for other parties). people refusing to even consider voting for a party due to past misdemeanors is contrary to progress.
i don't know why you choose to bring England into this. it is accepted fact that England is superior to Scotland in every financial way. the UK is a different matter, because England chooses to support low output principalities like NI & Wales.
ForzaHardrada 1 month ago
@ForzaHardrada
THAT'S why.
jistaface 1 month ago
@ForzaHardrada
