  • Hey Warp! How about a new Boards of Canada record instead of this pulp!

  • Ottis did it much better 50 years ago. There is nothing new going on here. just a poor imitation. Why would you listen to this product's music when you could just listen to the Back Catalogues of the likes of Ottis Redding, Bill Withers, Curtis Mayfield etc? It's sad to see a pioneering label like Warp Records putting out this regurgitated shit.

  • @SMELLTHEBULL Why don't you try appreciating music more often instead of putting down the stuff that isn't what you like. Or maybe you're the type to judge musicians because you can never compare to them. I don't know either way you're an idiot for posting this.

  • @RYTRON1000 Yeah whatever! It's shit. Let that be an end to it!

  • have no idea how a Grerman white guy has that much soul.

  • you should check his earlier music - tough techno ! you won´t believe it

  • @ReversibelNagard Aye, his stuff seems to have predated a lot of glitch and IDM although some of the Supercollider stuff mixed the experimental influence with his soulful vocals. Talented guy, without a doubt and I second your recommendation to check out his other material.

  • Damn dude, i've watched his show yesterday, and i can say, he sings with the soul! amazing

  • He sounds a bit like Stevie Wonder.

  • best blue-eyed soul ever love this guy

  • Saw him on 10th July at the Prince Concert in Werchter Park, he was just great! He is so funky, I am surprised that I did not here something about him earlier......

  • Lovely.

  • you have to search for: "x factor kelvin multiply"

  • munich!!! the greatest country in the world!!

  • Am I listening to Otis Redding or what ?

  • sick Jamie à la Otis Oedding

  • @TANIKAANDIRENA mine too.....!

  • I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee this song, makes me feel good, his music makes me feel good. I just want to swing through the world and dance and shake and idontknowwhat when i hear this song.

  • Such a great song, but this is a terrible music video!!

  • They play this song at work and all this time I thought the singer was black lol. Whatever, man. It's killer!

  • we got some soul going on here gets up dancing

  • wonderfull song!!!

  • Great track and vibes. I like his voice.

  • a white marvin gaye! utterly fabulous!

  • haha its for real now he's one of the best singers in 2010

  • Love it..... need i say more

  • i absolutism love this, great song !!!

  • eric hutchinson described this sound best as "a british guy who sounds like american 50's soul " - Otis Redding is the best comparison I've heard of so far but Otis has more bass in his voice. The chorus with the layered vocals is the part that really brings that 50's soul sound home in my opinion - that's such a classic sound it immediately makes me think Mo-town which is where people are getting stevie from maybe...?

  • i love the vid

  • It sounds a litlle like my hero Otis Redding.

  • Jamie Lidell is the god of the music, damn he's good

  • Comment removed

  • it's got a bit of a Van Morrison classic sound to it,which is awesome,a sweet sixtees groove in a brand new century!!5/5!

  • @dutchy1176 Really?

cuz i think Stevie Wonder when i hear him...

  • i don't understand how you guys hear stevie wonder, i like this music but i don't really like stevie wonder music it's different

  • @Mannamedwest314 i love this song and i loove stevie but no way they are the same

  • @prettypaine well...lolz i disagree; they share a similar chord progression...but again the incredible subjectivity of music.

  • Who cares if he is white! Music belongs to no colour, It belongs to every one (especially good music).

  • @sidsigsiro exactly.. it doesn't matter if you're black or white.. the legend himself tried to make that point clear to the whole world!

  • @sidsigsiro no freaking kidding....good call.

  • @sidsigsiro amen

  • i like his happy music :-)

  • love this song. It makes such a good mood!

  • It makes my body twist. I am smiling, such good sound.

  • oh my gosh, I've been looking for this song for years, I finally found it and it's amazing to hear again.

I Love his voice and the music.

  • he's like a dancing Rodney Trotter

  • Jamie's a leg end

  • I love his dirty voice, his groove and his shoes.

    Awesome!♥

  • Why did he stop Making new albums please reply :(

  • sos...any literate intelligent people on youtube?...

  • doubtful lol

  • Compared to what he did with Super_Collider, this is actually rather boring. But the man also needs to pay his bills, so I grant him his this ;)

  • supercollider is the best! its like Prince getting raped by Aphex Twin...

  • couldn't have put it better myself !

Jamie rocks it everytime anyway, but I love his stuff with Christian Vogel

  • If you think he reminds you of Michael Bolton, you should look up super_collider and subhead and still see if you stand by that.

Alternatively, see him live, it may change your mind

  • Comment removed

  • what is he singing about... It sounds like he is tired of beating himself of and wants to multiply... is he talking about masturbating wtf xD

  • haha, yes - Michael Bolton!

  • I was always wondering who did this song, the intro almost reminds me of Dion & the Belmonts "Teenager in Love"

  • Amazing!

  • I LOVE JAMIE LIDELL!!

  • whoa. heard this song on the radio and did a youtube follow up.

    this guy's white?!

  • My friend had the exact same reaction to Duffy's "Mercy" the first time <3.

  • BEST SONG ON THE PLANET RIGHT NOW

  • great song

  • I love this song it is so smooth and groovy

    really enjoying this! ♥

  • Otis Redding over here

  • Fabulous Song!!!

  • skipped out on the minus the bear show to see jamie lidell in 2005. It was great. I spoke to him afterwards and he was extremely nice.

  • Er... "shows how the big labels perceive talent and marketable..." - he's signed to Warp records?!

  • Yhooo

    Cool, really like it!

Like the way he expresses his energy in his video...::::.::::

  • English FTW!

I'm so tiered of repeating myself!

  • Otis Redding wannabe!

  • Oh my God!!It's brilliant!

  • sounds like a modern "sittin on the dock of the bay"

  • Great music.

  • can anyone tell me why this uy is walking around in munich? is this jamie lidell anyhow?

  • the answer is: Because he wants to!

And yes, it's Jamie Lidell. Don't you see?...

  • ah, okay, so there is no sense behind it. i thought maybe he lives there. or there's some other kind of connection. i just wondered why somebody makes a movie in this rather lame city.

and i only know him with beard and nerd-glasses.

  • but anyways ... thanks.

  • This dude is sick. When I first heard this at work, I kinda schluffed it off as some obscure Stax or Atlantic hit from the 60s or something. Then I really started listening to it, and I thought, "There's no way that this song is old. It sounds kinda modern." And I was even more surprised to find out the guy singing it was white. Wow. Dude really had me goin' for a second. I take my hat off to JL, because he's got more soul than any other blue-eyed soul singer I've ever heard.

  • You're absolutely right!

  • Him being white didn't surprise me that much, what did surprise me though was him being English (im english myself by the way) i think it really shows how the big labels perceive talent and marketable, he should by all means be more well known his talent is unquestionable and actually makes really catchy pop songs

  • Art is feeling.

  • Love that song, wether he's black or white, wether he 'copied' it or not.

You still have to express your feelings in the song in a way appealing to us, listeners. I love funk, soul and pop too. Music is for all creative souls is my opinion. If you can identify with it, feel the groove, the music, the beat and express it; its great!

(I hope my english is good...;-)

  • I think he's a good singer so what if he sings like that or that person....he's having fun in what he does...

  • Honestly if we followed this line of thinking we would still be listening to drum circles. Art is the process of stealing someone else's style and then putting your own spin on it.

  • Who are you to say what art is?

    Art is stealing?!!!

If we followed this line of thinking we would create our own unique music with a spirit of authenticity.

Art is being true to yourself, your culture, your environment and your materials and the instruments of your art. It is striving for your own voice. It certainly is not plagarism, copying, stealing or anything remotely like that. Evolution is one thing adopting a completely foreign voice is another. It is the attitude of the servile.

  • Look at what Hip-Hop effectively is. Take a sample, loop it up, then put your style and change it into something that will become uniquely yours.

Pablo Picasso, Steve Jobs, etc. all understood that human "innovation" doesn't come from true original thought but by building on those who came before us did.

You can disagree with me if you like, I'm not going to change my mind. Perhaps "stealing" is harsh but I think its a tounge in cheek way to put it.

  • Innovation does come from orignial thought. Ask the man who invented calculus who he copied?

The truth is that we can and do take ideas and extend them but your example of 'hip-hop' perfectly illustrates my point. Those guys aren't creative and most of what they do doesn't even qualify as music in my book. They steal someone elses music and swear over the top of it. Yo nigga, that aint creatiff braa!!! If that is your example of creativity, I rest my case right there.

  • written like someone in denial or else with no clue what is like to have an expressive voice, literally or figuratively. Soul knows no color. Welcome to the planet, dude.

  • live @ cactus :)

  • great skateboarding soong

  • sk8mafia right ? ;D

  • Saw him yesterday, performing live in Tilburg, the Netherlands. Great experience! If you have a chance to see him live, go for it.

  • Always put's a smile on my face. Especially the live version of the I-tunes festival.

  • excelente single... volviendo a lo mejor de Motown...

  • this reminds me quite a bit of "sittin on the dock of the bay", and that is probably the utmost compliment i can give to a singer...

  • That's exactly what i thought, i guess he took the beat from it.

  • Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
