  • Thank you to you too and you are welcome. I could make a new vid because i have taken lots of new pics :). I bet i am going to do it as soon as i have time for that.

  • Hi. I enjoyed your slide show and the classic vocal music. My husband and I (Americans-USA) are Varttina fans and are interested in all things Finnish/Suomi even though we do not speak the language. We would LOVE to travel there someday...very lovely!

  • Hello, thank you for the comment. I am pleased that you liked my video, thank you. You dont really need to know finnish if you want to visit here. So just be brave and come to see our places, you are more than welcome. Welcome to Finland = Tervetuloa Suomeen. :)

  • Kaunista- Beautiful. ONNEA SUOMI 90 VUOTIS PÄIVÄNÄSI!! CONGRATULATION ON YOUR NATIONALDAY--90 YEARS 6.12-2007!! (From a Finn living in Sweden)

  • Komeaa ja kaunista! Todellakin upea kunnianosoitus tälle hienolle maalle!

  • Kaunista, ja laulu jopa sopi siihen. Tuli ihan kotimaan ylpeys rintaan. Mitä rakastan kansanlaulussamme, on se että se ei sisällä mitään fasistisia säkeistöjä vaan se tosiaankin kunnioittaa maatamme ja ylistää rauhaa suloisilla soinuillaan.

  • It's still good that you know a little bit finnish. I think that's quite common that when you move to other country you forget your mother language.

  • I speak so little Finnish now - I learned Finnish when I was very young and there were mostly Finns living in the area where I grew up. My parents wanted us to speak English, so they always spoke English at home. Now that I've moved from Wisconsin to California, I have a hard time finding anyone who is Finn - and most don't speak Finnish. It's sad because none of the kids learn to speak Finn anymore.

  • My father's parents lived in Pori and my mother's parents came from Yristalo - sorry I'm sure I spelled that incorrectly - but perhaps you know the city I meant. Victor Berlund my father's father's name, John Russi my mother's father they all changed names when they arrived at Ellis Island.

  • Thank you for telling. Yes i know Pori and i think you ment Ylistaro if i am right. That's nice. So can you speak finnish, i have heard that it has been very hard to keep finnish language there in usa.

  • This photo show reminds me of the area around my hometown in northern Wisconsin. My grandparents on both my mother's and father's side left Finland in the early 1900s they settled in northern Wisconsin because it reminded them of their home in Finland. Lovely!

  • It's nice to hear that you have the same kind of areas over there as well. I bet i would like northern Wisconsin as well like your grandparents did. Do you know where your grandparents lived in Finland?
