  • Hold crap that was one dangerous and brave move!

  • wow I'm impressed! :)

  • WoW , insane........

  • Que dos grandes pilotos....

  • Ferrari is lighter than Mclaren so it should be faster. Still Häkkinen won...

  • McLaren has better engine than Ferrari, so Häkkinen won.

  • Hakkinen quel pilote attendre pour ecraser ce repugnant pilote . . . Schumacher ouvres les yeux . . .voions

  • Mika is a superman

  • exelente ahi si habia competencia

  • lol ricardo Zonta must have went crazy

  • 17° Gaston mazzacane =)

  • Fu un magnifico sopparso!

  • schumie said hakkinen was the only guy he ever feared, this goes to show it, i can just remeber watching these two battle it out on the tele all those years ago.....epic....

  • Michael we miss you you are the best 7 times master on F1

  • FANTASTIC HAKKINEN

  • BEST OVERTAKING EVER

  • For sure! I truly respect Michael Shumacher as a driver and for all He`s given to F1, IMO no one will beat he`s record period. But, still this is the most breathtaking overtake i`ve seen in 16 years (every GP Mika and Michael attended to)

  • I agree with didikreetz...

  • holy shit what a pass.

  • Mika - The best driver of the world!

  • Hakkinen was awesome, loved watching F1 in the good years, now its all about crappy regulations and Raikkonens probably the only cool driver able to win a championship

  • holy shit

  • hakkinen!! the best driver ever!!! schumi = bastard!!

  • schummi and hakkinen is the gratest races formel 1 did get upp

  • senna and hakkines are the best driver!!

  • SENNA!!!he's the real legend!as a person, driver and rockstar!lol

  • ahhh crazy

  • one of the best overtakes in F1 ever.

  • good maneuver GRANDE MAZZACANE AHI JAJAJ!!

  • The move on Spa was a bit overrated concerning difficulty as Schuey was on wet tyres an Mika on dry but still an excellent move at that speed! It takes some balls to do that.

  • nice one

  • It was an interesting season - no doubt about it, but i think the bad luck of Schumacher ended and he finally added another title to his 2.

Remember he broke his leg the previous year? I think THAT's exceptional.

  • can anyone send video where is finnish commenary for that race?

  • I'm not sure that that is true - Mika was delighted that his car is the best and he wanted another title - so he got it. I don't think that he would like to go to his rival's team. Never heard such thing - Ferrari didn't want him either. He just retired after Schumi bet him.

  • No, I mean Luca tried to hire him for the 1996 season. Michael even said himself when he was at Benetton "He's very good, it's too bad he doesn't have a good car".

  • But then Benetton stopped being such a good car and Ferrari was the new team that was beginning it's famous cars from the scratch, while McLaren was already the best.

  • Are you kidding? Mclaren was crap before 1996. Williams was by far the best. That's why Damon and Jacques won the 96-97 titles. Mclaren was crap between 92-97

  • Hmm i meant McLaren was the best when Hakkinen became champion. I skipped the two years of the Canadian(dont know his proper spelling) and Hill.

  • i find it funny what everyone says, basically everyone c'mon lets jump on the 'Schumacher was lucky and crap' bandwagon, (btw this is 'only' for people who know 'nothing' about formula one)

  • TITLE IN THE LAST RACE.

i won't waste my time to enlighten you any more. learn to be objective.

(may be you think that hamilton now is in front because his dark skin makes his bollid more aerodynamic... pleeEASSE )

  • **(may be you think that hamilton now is in front because his dark skin makes his bollid more aerodynamic... pleeEASSE )**

ahahahhaahah still laughing. how did u find those jokes ahhahahaha.

  • Hakkinen owned shumi many times.

  • Hakkinen the best ever , shit on schumacher

  • haha with that statement i can 100% surely say that u have never watch F1.

    haha you're so funny :)

Hakkinen bet Schumacher 2 years because his McLaren was better than the ferrari - just look the above video - how is it possible to get so close just on the straight?!?!? You think it's because Hakkinen is "so great" right? :) haha

  • I'm sure you don't know anything about f1, its pretty normal that the car behind goes faster in straights, and to get so close depends on how drivers come to/from the curve before the straight. And that's where different comes from. So I would say that Häkkinen was better than Schumacher in those days. I'm not saying that Schumi is bad, although he had great/best car for most of his career, where as Häkkinen had good car only for 3-4 years.

  • i've been watching F1 for 14 years now and i can tell you that if you watch nowadays the really close ferrari and mclaren you'll see what i am talking about.

and don't tell me that hakkinen was making the curves better than schumacher and that's why he was getting close to him like that.

the way mclaren was faster than ferrari was the way ferrari was faster than arrows those days. AND STILL SCHUMACHER WAS MAKING HAKKINEN SWET - HE GOT HIS

  • Mika was faster through Eau Rouge, and drafted Schumacher to make the pass. In 98 though, it was obvious Mclaren was better than the Ferrari. What I don't understand, is why it's ok for Michael to win in the best car, because you attribute it to his skill, but when anyone else does, it's because of the car. You should save this arguement for Hill or Villeneuve, because people in F1 have been quoted saying that Mika was Michael's equal, some have even said that he was quicker.

  • Michael got the title back in the early 1994 and 1995. He's much younger than Hakkinen. Hakkinen got his titles after Hill's and Veilleneuve's Rothmans Renault. 3 years in whick Schumacher was the man around who ferrari was being built. The forth year he broke a leg. Schumacher is a l e g e n d, while Hakkinen is one of the double-winners of the championship.

  • Hakkinen didn't win titles when he was younger because Mclaren was crap back then. They were using Ford and Peugot engines. Senna was so fed up with it he switched to Williams. For most of the 90's the Williams was by far the best car on the grid. Michael got lucky Prost retired and Senna died, because he only had to beat Hill. Also, Schumi won so many titles because he didn't have any comp. from 01-04 because the Ferrari was BY FAR the best on the grid. Look at 04, he won nearly every race!

  • So he's the best... i know i know :)

  • Of course he won every race!! He had a great car, but Barrichello was in the same car and he managed to only win 2 races! How do you explain that? Schumacher's driving is the best.

  • Maybe because Barrichello was a second driver and Schumacher was going for the championship?

  • This video is from Spa 2000. Hakkinen was faster because he was driving on dry tires while Schu was on wet (you can see that parts of track were wet). Every pro-driver agreed that doing this maneuver at 320km/h is exceptional. Cars were very equal in 2000. Identical qualifying laps all season. After 3 races Schu had 24 points advantage and Hakkinen succeeded to catch and pass him. Indianapolis engine failure of Hakkinen's McLaren (3 races to end of season) gave title to Schumacher.

  • you are wrong. in f1 the fastest and slowest car in the track with the same driver may have some miliseconds difference. it depends on the driver and not on the car. HE was right. hakkinen was drafting shumi that's why he passed him. You must learn some basics about F1 and driving not the other guy. ;)

  • i said it before - about the drafting-i'm well informated about it but why isn't it here now in 2007 when alonso is behind hamilton or massa to move in front so easy ? because the cars are almost the same. they too know that and they are not worse drivers than Hakkinen, especially Alonso.

  • First of all your english sucks ass. Secondly, it isn't easy to pass now in 2007. Ask Raikkonen why he couldn't get past Alonso at Bahrain? Ask Alonso why he couldn't pass Hamilton at Melbourne, and had to wait for the pit stops? Also, ask him why he couldn't repass Heidfeld at Bahrain? Hakkinen is one of the best of all time, and for you to dispute that shows your lack of knowledge and your boner for Schumacher.

  • So, you just confirm my words... I don't say that Hakkinen did nothing to win his titles, but he's not as great as Schumacher. You can doubt it as long as you want, but that's it.

By the way, I don't feel the F1 so interesting as before - now there is no real two-men battle and some newbies like Hamilton (nothing against him).

I don't think my English is bad. Just the word order is a little messy - just as my thoughts :)

  • No Hakkinen wasn't as great as Schumacher outside the car. By outside the car I mean, Michael set up a situation for himself at Ferrari where he had almost complete control and influence for years. No other driver has done that, so that's what sets him apart. In terms of on track skill, aside from superior machinery, I think they were pretty close.

  • The way you said it, I think it would be impossible to check which one is more skilled... ?!? Am I right?

Let me remind you the second title of Hakkinen - he won it in Japan the last GP. His only rival was Irvine. You want to say that Irvine is pretty close to Schumi as well?

  • It's not Mika's fault that Michael missed part of the season. Luca Montezemelo tried to hire Mika. Unfortunately, Michael protested and got Jeant Todd on his side. He supposedly made a huge fuss and Luca hired Irvine instead. Instead of facing a teammate that might have beaten him, he influenced Ferrari to hire guys like Eddie,Rubens and Felipe. Nothing against Michael, but you guys are seriously

underestimating Mika. There wasn't a more dominant car than the 00-04 Ferrari since the Williams.

  • OK let it be so. Where's your proof that Mika is what you say he is ?

  • You are wrong again i said the car doesn't make the driver. Meaning that if all the drivers have the same car with the same engine then we should see the true results. But and the drivers have bad and good days don't depend on every second of them in the track.

  • Do you know which is the five most important thing for a winning? Let me tell you: 1st-The driver must know the track

2nd-Very good adjustments to the car sweeting the track

3rd-A very good pit group work

    4th-A good driver

And at last a good car!!!!!!!!!!

**sorry if i am wrong somewhere pls correct this was only to show that only the car is the least needed for a win**

  • Sorry but that's not true mate. If it were, then Damon Hill and Jacques villeneuve wouldn't have won their titles. The car is the most important aspect, then the driver.

  • You maybe have fell from a swing when u was young and u don't rember it... Give alonso the f1 ferrari and schumacher f1 red bull then guess who is going to win...this is the real driver..sch!!!

  • I'll give Alonso a bicycle and let him compete with Sato with his SuperAguri - i guess, who would win??

  • Yes i agree now. Schumi is sure greater than Hakkinen. But if u want the truth. Schumacher raced in the time when no other driver was competitive. What Senna DID. And yes there is no intereste in f1 nowadays. There is not very good drivers and there is also the messy rules the cars must follow. You know: turn limiter, engine limiter, wait limiter...all bullshit. They must give simple rules.

  • That was balls!

  • "the McLaren was just faster" is the lamest excuse ever. How easy is to overtake in F1? Overtake Schumacher? And on that place in Spa with that high speed? Whenever somebody beat Schumacher his fans claim the car was better. Damn they are lame.

  • watch and then comment - ridiculous postings are the funniest. why then the next not 1 not 2 but 7 years schumacher owned everybody? because nobody had that much better car then the years with hakkinen.

  • el mejor adelantamiento de la historia, sin duda.

  • efsane şumiymiş sie.. "forza Hakkinen" :)

  • Everytime I see this overtake I remember thinking about what balls of steel Hakkinen has, but the faith that he had in Schumi and Zonta. Best overtake, certainly of recent times.

Mika is still missed in F1!!

  • He sure is!

I belive he's in DTM serie atm

  • That was incredible!!!!

  • The best overtaking ever in the history of f1. great hakkinen

  • Great moment no doubt! Go Häkä!

  • HAKKINEN FOREVER!

  • Hakkinen RULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Grecce Too!

  • One of the best overtakings ever, no doubt.

  • schumi did the better drive, but the McLaren were just faster. how simple is that?

  • Villeneuve's overtake back in 97 was better

  • Im not saying that it wasnt a great overtaking manouver,it was,but Schumachers tyres were shot.He

was still on intermediates,or wets and Hakkinen was on the correct tyres,it was only a matter of time before he passed him.First time I have seen it,in-car,with Mika. Some bottle there! Both amazing drivers!

  • SHIT!! Hakkinen was the best F1 driver!!

  • Best pass ever!!

  • best overtaking maneuvre in F1 history.

  • hakkinen rulz m3n!!

  • Gah. :( I remember that. Zonta was like "Oh 5hit!!1"

  • thats the best overtaking ever

  • yup spa is the best circuit

  • Now that was awesome.

  • This is what it's all about!!!

  • THIS IS THE BEST OVERTAKING I´VE SEEN I CAN STILL REMEMBER IT...

    Spa is the best circuit

  • Superb overtaking !!!!!!!
