Isn't this only useful if you don't know how to make your pc into a media center?
As in wouldn't it be simpler if you just booted Windows Media Center? And if you want a media extender just set up your 360 and link them to each other.
I'm not sure what the point of this vid is, maybe it's useful if you've got XP and no other way to do media center...
I completely agree with you...I'm not much of a fan of the interface, and the navigation sucks...Media Center is much better. But with this, you can run it on any system, whether it have Windows, Linux, OSx, or no operating system at all. If you've got Windows with Media Center, I wouldn't recommend this unless you're just curious.
No way is Media Center better. XBMC is open source, you can run CoreAVC and recompile mplayer.dll as you like. Good luck playing back Matroska (.MKV) or even standard Transport Stream (.TS) on that POS closed MS system.
It`s cool because just can boot it from you USB drive. So... if you are in school you can boot your XBMC out there and watch a movie in school =P or on your work or something.
@krazykhrisya Yeah, media center does suck on XP. They improved it in Vista and 7 though. Microsoft website sold Windows 7 Ultimate upon release to students (high school and collage only I think) for 12 dollars, thats how I got 7.
xBox Media Center is a platform (originally made for the xBox) that can stream and organize media. This makes it so that you can turn any system that can boot from a USB drive into a streaming media center.
Wow, a comment that isn't a year old...
