  • my band is doing this and not to sound incredibly critical or anything but i find that these guys slow down in around the same part we do. where the tenors and other low instruments take over and alternate between flutes? it drags. i cant figure out why.

  • ahhh i cant listen to this without thinking monty python

  • it was very good except we could have heard more baritone and tuba.

  • it was very good except we could have heard more baritone and tuba.

  • not too shabby at all....there were a couple of clams in there...but overall very nice!

  • percussion is to loud

  • @mannytrumpet It's the ambiance of the gym, plus the fact it was recorded with just a camera.

  • i play oboe for this song. i sound like a duck. but you guys did great nice

  • nice pic sound.

  • OMG!! I HATE THIS STUPID LISTENING ASSIGNMENT..IT CAN GO BURN IN FKKNGG HELL!! good song though :P

  • you too? -_-

  • this song is soo bad n stupid listening log

  • This was a great performance, but if I ever hear this song again by ANYONE it will be far too soon. I listened to it repetitively for 45 minutes for a music project, and my oh my.. Never again.

  • mee toooooo agreed :(

  • This listening log assignment rules!

  • Eww why do you like listening logs btw i need help can you mssge me what you did for this

  • @moonllightluver it is better than having to play it , listen too it and find out that it is the national anthem of some obscure eastern country!!!!!!!

  • ahh wheres the C on the tubalr bells at the beginning. great shame but well played

  • oooooohhhhhhh

    okay! thanks so much!

    i get it now!

  • oh! i think i got it! it's like in tripplets?!

  • Exactly. 2 triplets per measure.

  • haha it helped a bit =) thanks

  • It's....

  • ....Not worth commenting on unless you have something real to say. ^_^

  • No....you see,

This is the theme song from Monty Python's Flying Circus. At the beginning of an episode, a man would wander on screen to say but one word, "It's..." and then the opening credits would roll, with this song playing. So, I was making a reference to that. :)

  • Understood.

  • MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS!

  • i have to play this song this year. what does it mean by 6/8? is it easy to learn that?

  • 6/8 is the time signature it's in. Basically there are 6 8th notes in each measure. hence it being 6/8. So if you're counting each measure as 1-2-3-4-5-6, the beats would be on counts 1 and 4, so each measure would be "ONE-2-3-FOUR-5-6, ONE-2-3-FOUR-5-6, Etc."

    Did this help any? xD

  • I honestly wish my band could play this good... we have a small band like yours... I'll give a 4/5 :D

  • I didn't here any dinamics.

    3/5

  • The mic on the camera changes volume to adjust to the sound in the room. so it became more sensitive during the quiet parts, and less during the loud parts. You can tell on the cymbal crashers, the camera mic backs down because the crashes are too loud.

  • Some of the counts were off, but probably one of the better High School attempts I've seen.

  • that is a verry small band. haha but you guys were awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • We didn't have any trombones. XD

    Sorry. I know.

  • otta way to stay strong trumpets, too loud though throughout the piece, no sign of change... 4/5

  • Band crushed by giant foot!

And now for something completely different!

  • wow. this is really good for a small band. i am serious. ill give this a 5 out of 5

  • i got this song to play in band and we sound just as good

  • Good performance!

  • Is this the right room for an argument??

  • Sounds something you'd get at a ww1 british recruiting station.

  • Not a hard song, they messed up on the beginning, but I cant complain, we fucked up alot with it, until i smashed my tuba on the ground and they started to play right :D

  • Our middle school just got the music for this today. I play first flute, and piccolo, and I can play pretty much all of it. You guys sounded really good, and I hope our band plays it least as good as you guys played it.

  • MONTY PYTHON FLYING CIRCUS THEME

  • Yeah, they picked it because it was in the publice domain... they were cheap then

  • Legend has it that this song was part of the changing-of-the-guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace for years...Python brought a quick end to it.

  • I saw SHS and I got excited that somebody actually video taped MY high school in this performance... we were actually marching to this theme. I'm trying my best to play along as I'm watching

    but it's failing miserably...

  • hahah same! im trying to play along but its not working out so well...

  • where's the foot?

  • Wow. Very good performance. It's hard to find good performances of this piece on YouTube!

  • great sound for such a small band! do you have a bass clarinet?

  • at the time, no. Now we have 2.

  • Gotta Love That Bell Sound.

  • I play first flute on this song.

And these guys need to pay attention to dyamics more.

Like at the very beginning theres suposed to be a few cresendos and decresendos and they missed it.

    other than that, its good.

  • not bad

just look at articulation and dynamics a little more.

  • i play 2nd trumpet for this song

  • We are playing this in band!! :D Except we arent as good cuz we are just 7th graders. xD

  • Zomg I luff ur piccolo person <3

  • how many flute/piccolo were in there????

  • 2 flutes, 1 pic.

  • wow our band has 9 flutes and 2 piccolos, i play piccolo. the flute and piccolo player in your band is really good, i love their dynamics, our flutes dont ever care for it.

  • our band is HUGE

  • your band is extremely small! we are playing this song in band right now, but we play it faster. our band also has at least 60 people. and our school has 3 bands. but you guys sounded pretty good in this video for such a small band.

  • I love hearing the Monty Python theme.

    ~Ra'akone

  • i remember playing this song in middle school for UIL competion ...yup i played wind chimes . lol yeah but we played it faster though. but yall sound goooooddd.

  • I played the song a steel drum version, the bass was hard I have to used my strength so thanks for the song my teacher found the different version of the song.

  • long live the Monty python theme tune

  • For a high school band, these guys are pretty good. The reason that the sound is all flattened is bad recording engineering... Apparently there was both an acoustical problem and an engineering problem. Your trumpets need to practice more so they don't crack to many notes.

The main thing people hear in ANY band is the brass and the TRUMPETS in particuliar!Take not people!

  • Yes. It is especially hard because this was the last of 6 pieces in a row, plus the gym only has large industrial fans blowing on thew audience, and it gets VERY hot. So endurance is bound to get lost for all brass players under those conditins.

  • My youth orchestra is doing a strings and horn variation of this piece. it pretty sweet

  • It's a nice march, isn't it? I wish my school had a band.

  • nice

  • Ugh... I'll be blunt with you, you need more practice. Nobody was together, the beginning was sloppy, and the percussion were lazy. It doesn't help that the band's so small...

  • that was the way the song was written, I thought it was great.

  • No, it wasn't written that way. My school band has played this; it's supposed to be staccato and accented. This wasn't.

  • it was to. trust me, I know more about it than you do.

  • Trust me, I'm SURE you do.

Don't be so inflated. You don't know me. Stating that you know more than somebody than you even know is like you saying that you know the most about this piece than anyone else in the world.

    Guess what?

    You're wrong.

  • I know more than most, and while you might know more than me I serisously dout it. at leats on this matter. I'm not inflated, I'm just one of the most learned people in the countrie when it comes to monty python.

  • You seriously dout it? Countrie? Stop watching monty python and start learning how to spell. This just proved to me that you do NOT know more than most. Thank you, goodbye.

  • it was 3am, and I never claimed to know more than most about spelling, or most other things. just Monty Python.

  • GOOD JOB. NOTHING LIKE A GOOD SOUSA MARCH TO MAKE YOU

    FEEL GOOD. THANKS,bw

  • weird. sometimes the woodwinds cannot catch up, sometimes ure rushin...

  • Fantastic job boys and girls! Bravo!

  • u all get a well done from your neighbour from the north.

  • If you had someone dressed up like John Cleese walking around doing a silly walk, it would have been perfect!

  • gotta have Doug & Dinsdale Pirana, as well as Spiny Norman

  • don't forget the Spanish Inquisition!

  • o ok

when its played on bells it blends more anywayz

    the music is still good

  • our music mite be different because i play chimes for thie song and i have alot more notes than just F but its still good

  • I asked my director about the chime part, and he said that we got rid of the chimes part and replaced it with the actuall bell part. We were supposed to have a bell, but the school wouldn't let our director to buy it.

  • what happened to all the notes in the chimes part?

  • they're all twards the end of the song when we repeat.

  • super job! yay!
