I started drinking a year before I started smoking pot. With that having been said, I liked pot and never had the urge to do anything else, so I feel the "gateway drug" theory is somewhat irrelevant. People who already want to try the other drugs are going to do so, reguardless of whether or not they tried pot first. I quit smoking pot after about 4 years (due to job requirements) and never had any issues. No withdrawl, no adverse health effects whatsoever. Pot is safer than your tap water.

one other thing is, if you illegalize something that someone has always thought it to be OK (look at the indians, back then and now, they still smoke their pots and live a happy life!) people will just break the laws because it's a tradition or has become a tradition for them to have and use it. it's dumb how alcohol kills more people and yet it's ok to drink it and then if no one knows, then drive it, then CRASH! ooops, walks over and ask the other people, are you guys ok and passes out.

i believe the idea of what barry is doing is not so much of breaking the law. whoever made the laws made it black or white. either kill or be killed. it is entirely your ownership and property to have what you can afford, but because it can be dangerous, someone turned it into a law and in having it means your breaking the law. what ever happened to the 4th amendment act?! a camera can be turn into a gun, a pencil can be used as a weapon, why not illegalize everything else?!!?! if pot makes me stupid and slower then why is it that when i race my dirtbike unstoned i get 1.35 to 1.50 per lap then when i take a hit or two i get 1.20 to 1.39 and whenever i have trouble fixing something mechanical i just take a toke and shit gets done and done right pot makes my focus level skyrocket and if i smoked in school then im pretty sure my grades wouldve been much better
