  • lol the last episode i saw was back in 2006,i always thought it was cancelled xP

  • Why is it, between 1:05 and 1:08 you can see that the camera man is not moving but when it switches back to his view the angle is different from before?

Was the intro up until 1:08 pre-taped in order to give the illusion of a cameraman?

Were they actually using a VistaGlide camera and simultaneously covering the left half of the shot with footage previously shot with the same camera movements?

Why does Derren stop at 6:10 even after the TV is off? Is it to make sure the overlay is gone?

  • If you stare at the left side of the screen, in particular the wall, and do this from the beginning of when the lottery numbers are read out, and keep staring until derren brown has written down the numbers on his card, you might notice something

  • Just a thought...if he had shown the 6 numbers before the lottery and got them all right he could not have claimed to have picked them as the 24 people in the room picked them :)

  • One of the oldest tricks ever.... a variation of "see nothing and now this"...

  • watche derrens right arm as the results are being read out, its like hes feelling around in his pocket deliberately shielded from view by his angle. His hands on his face to distract the attention so you notice that part instead. I still belive it was a camera trick but thats suspicious...

  • if you look at the way he writes the number 11 on the card he clearly writes 2 straight vertical lines. But when he turns the card round one of the digits has a line at the top of it. If he knew the numbers before hand why did he have to write thenm down after? He should have written them on the card before. Also, the number 39 ball is clearly not the same ball as in the first 6 balls,as it will not go down and lie flat with the rest of them. They were all level at the start of the con.

  • he wrote it at same time as lotty to show it was same -_- dats the whole point of have the card nothin amzing about it dats logic if he didnt dat means people will have to memorise it in there head

  • his arm didnt even move much

  • It would have been a lot more believable if he had showed the balls first. Hasn't anyone asked him why he didn't....?

  • Part 4:

The apparent semi-success of the 24 members of the group predicting previous lotteries is another independent scam to give some sort of false explanation for the prediction.

So TWO scams together and the whole thing nothing more than a conjuring trick to mislead and misdirect people - and play on their greed and gullibility!

See notorious internet Animator Cyriak on the Charlotte Gore website to see how he did it. In fact, he demonstrated it working!

  • it couldn't have been camera trickery, as it was live and the camera was shaking, as far as I know, you cant have a perfect alignment of a split screen with those factors

  • The camera shaking was probably done by a computerised-motorised tripod, and there was software that took the camera shake into account.

  • Impressive camera trickery, well done.

  • pity he couldnt predict them and let us know before the lottery closed

  • he is wow!!!!

  • It was just a trick at the end of the day, nothing to do with working out any numbers. SIMPLES. o.k :)

  • If you ever watched the horse racing episode I think he did the same thing here, thats why it took him a year I think he met many groups of people until he convinced one they could win. Then on the wednesday he obviously wrote his own numbers down and did a bit of trickery to convince them they had won. Im guessing he will explain this in one of his next shows.

  • derren brown couldn't play in the lottery because he and all his relations are banned from any form of gambling in the uk because of all the stunts he does like this... amazin tho what he did

  • I would just like to state the fact that this act was completely legit and was not faked. The reason why he did not enter these numbers into the lottery is purely because it is against the rules to. It is the same as counting cards at a casino when playing blackjack, it's not illegal but the casino, or in this case the national lottery, will refuse to pay out the money. However, he does not care about this as mentioned in a comment before he is rich and does not need anymore money.

  • I now dislike Derren Brown. After that hour show this evening. That was an hour of stuff that doesn't relate to predicting the lottery. Were they actors, or was he fooling them? I reckon this evenings show may be important for a future "Event".

    I want my hour back

  • dont know what the hell he did, but his working out the averages theory just doesnt add up!! i mean if it did, can u imagine now you'l have thousands of groups of 25 people winning the lottery every fucking week!!

  • i think you all need to get into your retarded heads that he didnt care about winning the lottery

  • yeah i heard that but none of his friends or family were stopped!

  • OMFG OMFG HW THE FUK

    THT INCERDIBLE

  • he should have shown us the balls first. justs makes it obvious he didnt actually predict them. and also if i had predicted them like he had id be blimmin ragin at not winning the jackpot. cant beleive channel 4 give him another slot tonight to talk crap when its 100% obvious he didnt even predict them

  • he doesnt touch the balls

  • Comment removed

  • So did Derren Brown just fix the lottery? Seriousely?

  • Watch the direction of the screen shakes as each number is announced ... Suspiciously like the shape of the numbers ... Hmmmm ....

  • haha why would they need to do that?!

  • omgggggg

  • why does everyone spend so long trying to prove that its fake or some shit just watch fridays show you cunts

  • Comment removed

  • the show proved nothing.

  • ye but that didn't explain it at all...it was clearly just a camera trick or something. there is no mathematical way of shortening the odds.

  • its obvious its fake. omg tell me u dont beleive it. if he had actauilly predicted them why didnt he actually do the lottery and win the money. if u knew it was likely ud predicted the numbers would u not spend a pound nd actaully do the lottery. course u would

  • hes loaded anyway why would he bother trying to win the lottery when he could prove it was possible to predict it

  • Apparently c4 banned hem from doing it, not that i matters a he's loaded anyway!

  • IT WAS FIXED!!! DX

  • lol he nearly pissed himself when watching the balls come out :P

  • of corse its a trick but its still awesome and it clearly works

  • hes filmed every combination he can think of in it

  • If its not split screen then I think its the following.

The clues are in the advert for the show.

1.The advert is backwards. So I think he uses mirrors because every time you look in a mirror its backwards.

    Find out soon any way

  • My brother actually thinks he did it and it was magic... fail.

  • all will be revealed today....so we'll find out the real answer in the meantime.....coooool

  • Well it took him a whole year to figure it our.. and i dont think that he would use his powers for evil to win the lottery anyway :P lol

  • if he's so cool, why dont he just win the money and not play it on tv?

  • hes alredy got millions lol

  • Why is the brick work directly above the balls, slightly blurred??

  • Look at the orange circles at 1.02 i think they are hidden ink jets that spray the numbers on to the balls as he writes the numbers on the board (which is some sort of LCD screen)

  • Good point, because apart from 1.02 you don't see the orange things again.

  • rubbish

  • hahaha, i doubt he will tell you how he really did 'do it' because everyone would

  • sorry but i seen a better the dude putted his prediction inside a safe hanging from the ceiling in a busy shopping centre and opened the safe seconds after the draw and got all the numbers in front of a live audience

  • omg he is really amazing haha brilliant bloody brilliant

  • if that wasnt a trick darren brown would have enough money to buy the world !

  • na, he was banned from buying a ticket anyway

  • well they probs banned him lol

  • OK............

    6:07

    What do you all see?

Is it the first 'apparant' stillness from the 'allegedly' moving cameraman?

Frame Syncing with the blank balls.

Refernce: Metro site - Youtuber oneone25PerCent

  • good trick. But not convinced as balls with numbers were not shown during the numbers being read out-now that would be amazing!

  • I hope I'm wrong, but im pretty sure its split screen. Otherwise would the cameraman not have a tripod? And the numbers were on balls and not something else like paper because the switcher wouldnt be able to put the paper back exactly like it was. Also the last ball was meant to give him more time, but they still got it which was a bonus.

  • this video is spooky. i cant stop watching it. its even stranger in reverse!! /watch?v=DIfNtvDdAl8

  • and u nw that how ??

  • the camera is shaking cos its a camera man u cant expect him to be completely still

  • i dont think its the hand held camera anymore

  • There has been an upload of the full solution plus a remake of the whole stunt do a youtube search for the following video,

    en2SdwAg

  • Bollocks.

  • He also has a marker to stand on and im sure the camera man does too. so they cant cock up the splitscreen thing. Derren Brown is great, but you can never realli belive what he's saying whilst hes performing. very nice trick!

  • the ball doesnt move and thers no extra thumb just simple compression clitches.

  • Sorry. Forgot to set the video to deinterlace, while transcoding :)

The ball does move however, in the actual stream. But there isn't an extra thumb :p

  • I think that at 4:19 the left side of the screen freezes. Then a second person puts in the correct balls into the slot but is not seen because the left side of the screen is frozen. Then after all the numbers have been revealed on the loto show, the ball planted has the bonus ball time to sort the balls into numerical order and get out of the picture. After he's out of the shot, the left side of the screen resumes playing. Making us think nothing has ever happened.

  • This would explain why Deren stops for a moment at 6:12 to let the ball planter get out of the frame or so he doesn't lose part of his body behind the frozen frame.

The camera constantly moves to give an illusion of the left had side of the screen being played live and makes it very difficult to see when the screen pauses and resumes playing.

  • Comment removed

  • anyone else notice at about 6:00 on the right hand side of the board he grows an extra thumb

  • WOW I hope for his sake he actually bought that ticket.

  • He was legally band from buying a ticket

  • ah well sucks4him

  • well done derren,I seriously doubt you used a camera trick or split, there is just too much evidence to contradict such mischief. If any of you idiots on youtube could've figured this trick out yourself then it would't have taken Derren an entire year, and every amateur magician would be "predicting" lottery numbers. You are ALL WRONG!

  • What evidence contradicts it??, anyways you'll find out tonight wont you but if it was a camera trick or a split screen using visual effects your really going to look silly.

  • Who's the "silly" one now?

  • No one, I never said it was the split screen technique I just said that you'll probably look silly if it was, that's why I never said it was because if it wasn't then I'd look silly for claiming that it was.

  • why does he stop for a second at 6.12?

  • if you look from 6.02 to 6.11 i swear the ball on the far left moves up very slowly

so my theory is that there is a split camera screen and they switch the screens but slowly not quickly if you get me and the shake of the camera is not real as the camera would be on a tripod and there should be hardly any shape

    OR

this one would be easier but the technology would be expensive; the ball are just digital and some dude is typing the numbers into a remote control. I cant wait for the friday show!!!

  • youre a retard kill yourself

  • Well done Derren. That was amazing and if I knew how damn right I would spend a year of my life trying to predict the lottery, especially if it could earn me 2.4 million quid

  • he can do this one of 2 ways both need technological gadgets. first, a simple split screen camera trick. the technical guys just froze one half of the screen and his assitant puts the balls as they come out. second is radio controlled balls which can be changed with a remote by his assistant. he probably spent a year researching the technology. he did nothing. u could put a monkey in his place and it appear to get the numbers right. amazing technology.

  • Despite the fact he's an illusionist that was still a pretty awesome illusion :D

  • if ure saying about the freeze i dont know because dont consentrate on the image cansentrate on the screen dont listen to anyone else cause its life and if they stopped it for a second u will see a jolt in everything including the lotto people or the screen. just watch closely

  • think about it hes been trying for a year, every week and every wednesday the lotto is on so the amount of balls dat hav come up ders got to be a way of almost predicting d next ones, he could of done it by d average of how often d balls come up. just a thought

  • u cant predict the lottery hes not magial it was just pot luck

    but weird

  • I severely doubt it was 'pot luck'.

    I like Darren Brown. He's not a magician, he's a trickster, convincing you he's magic. That's brilliant.

  • ino know hes not magic but wat i was trying to say was its to do with how long hes been trying for and if its luck den it wouldnt be a trick and dats wat derren browne is a box of many tricks.

  • If the lotto was that easy everyone would win. :P

  • what do you mean if it was that easy it took him a whole year with postits all over his house.. lol

  • look wat he did on friday, with all the people. im still not sure about it but its kind of on the lines of wat i said

  • Nah. He compared the prediction of a constant object (weight of cow) against a totally random thing. Not possible.

  • The panel of 24 people picked numbers based on previous lottery number combinations. So their choices were an attempted prediction of the new numbers based on how they both conciously and sub-conciously judged the likelyhood of those numbers appearing. There is certainly a difference to the cow example, but the prediction here would be based on a judgement of chance/probability, rather than on weight. I think its hard to say whether the philosophy is exactly the same, but maybe it is feasible.

  • It was noticed by many people that he did not actually show the 24 peoples' chosen numbers to them beforehand.

  • When Derren says "in order we have ohhhhh, 2, 11, 29 etc..." as he says "ohhh" his eyes look over towards the balls. Or is it towards a person moving the balls that got his attention?

  • he is lookin at the screen t see wah the numbers were lol?

  • he already had the numbers on the balls

  • ...well duh? that's his prediction

  • yup

  • The basis of most of this type of nonsense is:

    1. Misleading or vague statements before the trick is performed e.g. he said Camelot told him he couldn't show "THE NUMBERS" before the BBC show. Which numbers is he on about - his numbers or the BBC numbers. There was NOTHING stopping him from showing us the predictions.

    2. Camera angles, replica sets, replica props

    3. Editing (though not in this case)

    4. Time delays (though not in this case)

All that said, he's still quite amusing.

  • Yeah. Even though we all know that he didn't predict, people still find it annoying that he said he was predicting.

There's nothing illegal about saying what numbers you think are going to come up :) I was foolish enough to believe that at first though :D

  • what was the point in the camera up in the back if they never showed u a view from except when telling u it was there? hmmm very strabge

  • If you are reading the Derren. Here is a challenge for you. I bet you £1000 that you cant fool me face to face with any of your mind reading nonsense. Take the challenge. Leave a message here and I will contact you.

  • hahahaha. You're delusional!

  • hahah bit of a dick arnt you? and to be fair he probably could

  • im darren brown meet me at london eye at 1.40pm at 11 september at the london eye

  • his name is derren, you'd know that if you were him.

  • you weren't there... are you scared?

  • In any event.. It WAS IMPOSSIBLE to have predicted the lottery numbers before the numbers were known. HE may be a millionaire but I am pretty sure the cameramen are not. If they had known in advance which numbers Mr Brown has put on the pedestal would it not have been worth a £1 bet by the cameramen??? and WE KNOW they didn't bet a £1 on it because no-one won last night and it is a ROLLOVER till Saturday!! (Such LIES MR Brown)

  • Well it's obviously not a real prediction. And I hope that Derren doesn't believe everyone thinks it was a prediction.

The clever methods he does these tricks and manipulates minds is why I enjoy his stunts :)

  • Looking VERY closely at the re-run of the video, we can CLEARLY see that when Derren Brown 'SAYS' the number 28 whilst writing it on the whiteboard, the entire screen freeezes fro just under 1 second (with the exception of him and the image on the tv display). My guess is that in that 1 second instant the balls are switched by hidden hands (or perhaps mechanically). It doesn't take a long time to do this. Anyway all will be revealed on Friday.

  • this fool man waste everyone 's time.

  • wanna shut up?

  • The wonderful thing about Derren Brown is, that he explains it later, which will leave you satisfied for about half and hour and then you will start scratching your head again.

  • Who was he looking at, 3:04, when he found there were 30 seconds to go?

  • i think, half the screen froze,,,,,,and his assistant did it

    or,,,,

they did some thing with background and we cudnt see any one movidg balls,,

  • i dont think its a split screen, its just not derrens style!

  • thanks a mill for posting, i missed it! I am baffled!

  • thats number wang!

  • xD LOL

  • theres no visual illusions there, he moves the balls, but feck it, dont know until friday, safe upload by the way, i missed it live

  • why does he go all the way round the balls near the start rather than moving behind

  • watch the left most ball as derren says "23. 28" it goes from being level with the other balls to being higher. that's where you still for a split screen is being faded out ;-)

  • Thats probably due to all the balls being tightly packed into the tray so they dont roll around, so when he presses down on one ball it pushes all the others around and the easiest place for it to go is up.

  • Watch the far left ball when derren is reading the numbers out. When he says "23" it rises very slightly (you'll notice when he turns it round, the final ball is not touching the bottom of the holder).

  • 6:07 you can see the camera stop shaking

  • very true

  • so obvious when you pointed it out! i think perhaps the reason the camera shaking is because the farthest camera is zoomed right in, so even if it is on a tripod the slightest movement would cause it to shake?? that leaves the other camera thats closer to take over the broadcast for the few seconds it takes to switch the balls: hence no camera shake because its closer. then the farther camera takes over again? look forward to finding out friday, i'm probably way of the mark lol!!

  • Camera's don't shake on tripods

  • They do if they're computer controlled :)

  • Sorry, 6:07 not 7:05.

  • I think the reason the camera was 'shaking' is to present the illusion that it's one entire shot, whereas in reality the side with the balls on is frozen when the balls are replaced. However, as the WHOLE screen which you see is shaking, it presents the illusion it's one screen, rather then two stuck together

  • Quite. There must be some clever blending going on as well though. And that second camera must have something to do with it!

  • Assumingly the second camera will be for the reveal on Friday (it will show the film without the split screen)

  • Yes 7:05, is the only dead still camera work in the entire 10mins, presumably when they take the split screen out.

Bit Lazy compared to Derren's usual standards.

  • Or this could all be planned to throw us off :p

Craaaaazy Derren. We'll just have to wait now...

  • Look at the non-smooth camera work. There's some computerised tripod moving that around there, and then split screening, and finally freezing the left side.
