@Thegoldstarman This is a mini computer that just so happens to be very useful for emulating classic games on the go. The Playstation Vita will be a specialized game console with *developers* making games to sell on it. They're in completely different worlds. While I'm sure the Vita will eventually be jailbroken and many emulators made for it, that was not the intention of the console, (oh, and that's the reason there were next to zero games for PSP).

Let me answer some questions-

First they do expect to make another one eventually, but don't expect it to be available for at least 4 years

Second, this system is not a competitor to Sony. This is a handheld computer which kicks ass at gaming, not a locked down but pure-gaming system. Different markets.

Finally, you can order one of these devices at the official site- google it, youtube won't let me post it here.

For quite a bit extra, you can have one shipped to you in under a week.

Technically, can't you run virtualbox on it, load windows, and then access a wifi if the linux wifi won't work? Sounds like a sweet device...

@RobotBadger no, virtual box is a visualization layer, it doesn't emulate CPU calls, just fakes generic hardware drivers for maximum compatibility with the most OSs that will run on an x86 machine.

Same goes for WINE, it's not an emulation either, it's a reverse engineered set of windows APIs and DLLs, it can't emulate the CPU.

The CPU in the Pandora has more in common with the one in your DVD player then in your PC. It's an under clocked OMAP3530 with a PowerVR SGX530 and a DSP for HD video.

The sound problem indeed sounds to me like a timing issue. I get that a lot when messing with emulators just on a pc trying to tweak plugins mostly. Not like my computer got any more powerful from one setting in software to another lol.

The pandora is amazing! I've been following their progress with great anticipation for well over a year now. Im glad to see it's emulating psx so well, that's something im really looking foward to about it. And not to mention the n64, Gba, snes, arcade systems! It looks like the pandora will emulate any of the old systems! Cannot wait..

@Cla0016 i think the psp runs at like 500mhz max, pandora can probably hit 900mhz. plus in pandora u can just set the prioritys on which process to run at the time and set the ram for just games, idk im a pandora noob.

It wasn't difficult playing RE2 because it lagged, even on the PSP, ps1 games never lagged. The problem was that it hard to control because the screen is so small.

Well, it doesn't matter, the Pandora has much better CPU and GPU than the PSP, regardlesss of clock speed. Clock speed rarely means anything between different consoles.

Its a test unit. They aren't white, they are transparent. This allows them to see how the boards fit inside the case. If something doesn't fit they can see the issue.

The Pandora uses ARM, so you can't 'download' PC / x86 programs to it.

It's just like the iPhone. Some programs run on both x86 and ARM, some are changed vastly, and others are not ported at all.

They are working on an N64 emu, and it seems to run the basic games like Mario, but slowly. Apparently the N64 is complicated.
