Just come from seeing AJC perform live at the Swinton Folk Club and it was a brilliant evening. And yes, he played this song. And yes, grown men were crying. It's still one of the most moving songs I've heard. His range as a songwriter is great too, equally skilled at comedy or songs like this. It's also his 30th wedding anniversary as of today, so raise your glasses, folks...
I've just seen him at Bollington and I bought a "best of" compilation with this as the opening track. He's much better than that silly Tim Woodhouse on Blord111...many thanks.
i've seen athony john clarke a couple of time and i think its amazin how he works a crowd. he can bring you to tears in one song and the next have you in stitches because he is incredibly funny
I saw him at the Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival in June(?). I bought his "best of" CD and play it often. Some of the songs just get into your brain and won't leave!
I heard AJC in a little coffee house in Roanoke,Virginia about four years ago, and I was so touched and taken by his presence and his songwriting. I still play his "Acquaintance of Mine" CD regularly. That song is one of his centerpieces. He's a gem--like an impressionist painter who has been around the world. Bless him.
Just tuned in to see AJC and what he is like live. This is because he plays Kirkby Stephen early next year.
Suffice to say, after hearing this, I am about to book the tickets.
Job done. So moving.
