I KNOW the Man who was with Johnny when He died He wasn't rich but wasn't broke either. If He were broke and desolate does it make you feel better to "RUN HIM DOWN"? Must reallly elevate your testosterone to put down someone who can"t defend himself. I played for Johnny in 1994 His "Jitters were casued by Lung Medications Albuterol,Bromide, Make you hyper,He was not doing drugs or even drinking after he made his comeback. He was suffering from emphysema, go Assasinate someone elses Character
This Happin to me at a church in Dallas,Tx also,I was homeless 10 Years, I had bible study here and there,
I had Brain Damge at Birth I'm a white man age 65 Is there a nice church out there some place would let a poor man in a church,I'm in Rio Grande Valley Texas now, God Bless
Johnny always had a bad problem with cocaine and that may be why he was fidgity. A good friend of mines father used to play with Johnny and they would go on cocaine sprees. My friends father finally passed away of un natural causes due to all the drugs, but Johnny kept going full speed.
My all time favorite Johnny Paycheck songs are "Someone to Give my Love To", "I'm the Only Hell My Mama Ever Raised", "Slide off of your Satin sheets" and of course "Take This Job and Shove it."
Trying to find paycheck's life story , he speaks of it in this interview. Know any thing about it. Can't find it on Amazon or any where. Thanks ... any one know the answer?
Yes. Go to Yahoo Music. Awesome site. You can program your own personal radio station that plays what you pick. And Great bios. Just read Johnny's before coming here. Check it out.
Johnny Paycheck was talented but he's not even in the same league as David Allan Coe. DAC wrote songs for Elvis Presley, Tanya Tucker, Tammy Wynette, George Jones and his stuff today is still being covered by artists like Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker. DAC is one of the most revered songwriters by today's country acts. Johnny Paycheck is a classic case of talent wasted. It's too bad he couldn't seem to get his shit together.
@daddymak9 Well you can say that but johnny paycheck taught george jones and merle haggard how to sing. I like elvis but he could only play five strings of the guitar and he did not write any of his own songs. Great charisma and character and a whole lotta passion but johnny wrote the truth and passion at the same time. either way you cant criticize either man for they have more talent than we because we watch them not the other way around.
To tell the truth, I wasn't a fan of Elvis Presley. Point was that David Allan Coe's greatest talent was that of a songwriter. His greatest hidden talent was his ability to sing because he was a better singer than any of the above mentioned. My criticism of Johnny Paycheck was not his talent, it was the fact that he was a head case. He cared more about getting drunk and doing cocaine than he did his career. That's why he went to jail and went bankrupt.
Johnny had his "weakness's " .. we all DO .. he paid the price .. He was a great artist .. nothing false about .. Johnny Paycheck .. R.I.P ..

Johhny was either real nervous or a bit high that night. Either way--he's a star as far as I'm concerned!

I think its just because he kept having to catch his breath. probably the asthma.
Buried3030 3 years ago
I think this was about the time that he was starting to suffer from symptoms of emphysema. It might explain why he's so out of breath. R.I.P. Johnny.
