But don't you know that we could sell electricity to neighboring countries and that would probably deal with the loans, plus the electricity bill would be much lower. But you cannot take a book as an evidence for the whole picture why BNPP was historically put up. @Caicen I have already mentioned books that you should look into. Most of these are available as pdfs online. I know that there are not many materials locally. I went to school in the Philippines before attending post grad in the U.S. But there are materials out there. Read publications by PCIJ or Newsbreak. Go to the UP Diliman library, they have thousands of books there or ask your relatives who live abroad to send you some. The internet is convenient but it has its limitations.

All those media lied to us how defective the plant was, I smell politics, because if that plant was allowed to operate it would be a legacy of Marcos success which the Aquino's would'nt allow to happen. It never became operational b/c it was placed in a fault line in Bataan. There was no sincere intent to put one up. @Caicen I have already mentioned books that you should look into. Most of these are available as pdfs online. I know that there are not many materials locally. I went to school in the Philippines before attending post grad in the U.S. But there are materials out there. Read publications by PCIJ or Newsbreak. Go to the UP Diliman library, they have thousands of books there or ask your relatives who live abroad to send you some. The internet is convenient but it has its limitations.

There is an oil crisis during that time, because of the war in middle east or what i recall the "Israel six day war" I've watched that documentary. US in their part tried other means to produce oil because of the embargo. So the Philippines during that time,an ally by the US must have thinking the same thing. @TheEternalRider: The complete corruption and devastation the Marcos' have imposed on the 20 years of dictatorship in the Philippines is the main reason the Government have isolated him from even being burried within the compounds of the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (LNMB). If he truly wasn't corrupt and unjust he would've been a hero in the eyes of the Filipinos.
