It looks like it does the job in one pass. I'd rather have a small tiller that only had to go over the ground once than a bigger one that had to run over it again and again to do the job.
You're right, but...A: Does he look like he's in a hurry? B: Gardening is a labour of love, it's a hobby, not "more, bigger, better, faster". C: You can till the soil 100MPH, but the seeds will still grow when they're good and ready, depending on the weather, as she goes. Look and learn, son, that's a damn fine tiller.
Reguardless of whether its right or wrong, im calling a spade a spade and saying the tiller is undersized for the garden. Even if that tiller is awesome- which i never said it wasnt- it seems too small.
It took a few passes, but we grew a lot of stuff in there that summer. We rented a big tractor mounted tiller the following year and because we had to go slow and was harder to turn around, I could swear it took just as long.
Always cool to use something of my grandparent's though. Dad had to do a LOT of work to get it going again.

The old M.E. tiller I have the same one
and other then the poorly distributed weight on the belt cover side; it's a great little tiller.
I weighted the opposite side to fix the problem.
I repowered mine with a 5hp briggs.I love the iron wheels
