Hay I'm not genius with any of the gene stuff but I would like to put my theory to this to see if it makes sense, so... Do you think it could be due to natural wild survival that this gene is selective to one sex for example, gene's are mistakes and we know that it's hard for albino gene to stay alive in the wild so would a gene knowing it's a mistake produce females knowing that they would take longer to mature so there for in theory would be hunted and killed off before reproducing itself?
As confusing and "magic" as this process with Coral Glow sounds, I think I have figured out the way it could work. I would have to do test breeding to be sure. Polygenetic morphs can be complex, but still have statistical logic. Combined with a sex-linked gene being part of the polygentic recipe, the scenario you described very much makes sense. My question is when you bred to "non-Coral Glows" were they normals from that line, or from a completely independent line? That could be enlightening.
thanks to kevin for giving us an insight into this, with the amount of ball python morphs around now i think its only going to be a matter of time before we start learning all kinds of new things that will baffle even the most experienced geneticists!
Thanks Kevin for spreading the truth for us small times and thanks Raphy for getting him on camera :D Next Deserts... only guy who will tell us the truth because I smell a coverup.
@Elitesnakeprojects the thing is that no one has an adult female desert that HAS had fertile egg so far all the egg from adult female desert have bin slugs so a lot of people say they can't reproduce so as of now we are all waiting to see an adult desert female on a clutch of fertile eggs. the males make some smoking crosses but the females are only good for pets as of now I talked to pro exotics about this and he said that the females have to be kept cooler throwout breeding and egg laying.
@JonathonSellReptiles This actually isn't true, there have been good eggs come from a Desert female (one was a Tiger female) the whole clutch wasn't fertile but the most eggs out of a Desert female was 4. There have been a lot of slugs from the Females BUT they have laid good eggs.
@Sloanreptiles That's good to hear.. I was going off some of the thing that a lot of other breeder were talking about in Daytona.. Have you seen a female desert on eggs or a pic of a female on eggs? I have not but I would love to. I do hope the bugs will get worked out of this project. the guy from pro exotic did say there was one female that laid eggs but the guy was out of the country and could not put any pics up for any one to see..
@Sloanreptiles Prov it. I don't think you know what you talking about were are the pics of deserts females on viable egg's. I have an 1853 gram female desert that drops slugs every year.
Respond to this video... QUOTE Seems like we've been promised pictures for a couple of years now. I own a female tiger and a male desert spider so I am vested into the project. Starting to feel as if the rumors are true about the females though.Funny cause when the caramel females were rumored to lay infertile clutches it was taken as a FACT until photo evidence proved it otherwise. Now that the fertility of desert females is in question---
everyone thinks the naysayers are wrong yet no one ( to my knowledge) has produced a picture of one on eggs. Sure I've heard Mr. Powell has gotten eggs from a female, but isn't this the forum of "it didn't happen unless there is a picture???".
. Everyone is defending the morph yet no one can prove it otherwise. I personally have heard through multiple sources that females are junk as far as breeders go! And these are highly legitimate sources.
I sure HOPE someone proves me wrong and shows us a female coiled around some fertile eggs. But until then I would keep an open mind about desert females and their fertility!

I don't see any post on anyone having luck with this project. Pleas show us some desert females on viable egg's. Sorry if I come off as a dick but Im upset with the female desert bullshit,
wow that leucy retic that andy's holding at the start is smokin'!! this is really cool, very interesting vid i didnt know that coral glows had all this weird stuff going on i just thought that it was mostly a female trait like calico retics
Great vid man! Just goes to show we still don't know it all when it comes to our snakes! I very interested to see what the future holds for this wacky gene! :)
I don't know which parent influenced it yet but I have a pair of het pieds I've been breeding for 2 yrs and I've only gotten makes from them and I was thinking I just had some bad luck with them but now I'm doing a dbl take and I'll try for another yr... Would be interesting to find out
@raphymartinez very true its amazing trying to wrap my mind around this since I study genetics extensively in college. I would love to see my professor here about it and see what he says lol. Thanks again for a great video hope you all are well.
seeing those retics at the beginning makes me wanna see some. do you think you can make a video on some retics? thanks i would love to hear what kevin has to say on retics

is it true a Desert female BP can't produce eggs?
Elitesnakeprojects 5 months ago
@Elitesnakeprojects neither Kevin or myself have adult female Deserts to be able to confirm or deny that.
raphymartinez 5 months ago
@Elitesnakeprojects who told you that ?
tokay999 5 months ago
@tokay999 I just heard some where that they are having trouble breeding Desert BP females. Do you know if this is true?
Elitesnakeprojects 5 months ago
@Elitesnakeprojects i dont know i dont think so ..how would they make more desserts ?? unless you breed male desserts to female normals

CoralMan24 5 months ago
@CoralMan24 see to me it's not the Holy grail. That in my opinion would be a male that can equally make males and females like any other morph can.
