  • lol i thought she was meredith in greys anatomy

  • If you seen the film you should read the book by elfriede jelinek it's beautifully written.

  • what this song please ??

  • @Monaim31100 moonlight sonata-beethoven

  • @HorrORFan31191 Thank you !!

  • @HorrORFan31191 That's it. Also called "Claire de Lune".

  • @claushenrique Claire de lune? That piece is composed by Claude Debussy, and in french is called "moonlight" ... This one is just called Moonlight Sonata. Beethoven was German. I think that makes sense. I'm a bit of a classical music buff. :)

  • @Monaim31100 Moonlight sonata, or sonata Claire de lune, by Beethoven.

  • @claushenrique

    Moonlight Sonata 1st Movement

  • wonderful movie!!Incredible!!hard one, but so amazing!!Huppert - the best !!!

  • @claushenrique thank you , I agree - outstanding movie. TheElenaRussia - вы неправы. таких как Эрика много, но эти женщины - не наслаждаются жизнью, а учат её жестокие уроки, чтобы восстановить свою женскую силу и власть.

  • I liked the movie and I really love your video.

  • Unfortunately people like Erika a lot and they need to understand that life is too short to take it seriously.

  • @claushenrique, please accept my most sincere apologies for squabbling here on your video. I promise that I will stop right now, and that i will take this elsewhere. This should be a place to discuss the video and the movie like adults, not silly arguments over bruised egos and whatnot. Again, my apologies.

  • My favorite movie.

  • I loved this move and Huppert was so Kinky!!!

  • I absolutely love Isabelle Huppert, so I watched La Pianiste with my wife last weekend, and I must say the movie was a disappointment. How, please tell me, how can this movie be your favourite. The only thing good about it is Isabelle's acting (especially the final scene) but the story was insane, the ideas of the movie could've been expressed differently. Instead, the result is just utter visual diarrhea. Sorry if you feel differently.

  • @ushiwakamaru30 Thanks for your comment. Well, besides Isabelle Huppert, who is one of my fav actresses, Haneke is one of my fav film makers alive, and I also enjoy Elfriede Jelenik as well. They three together, it couldn't be more perfect to me.

  • @ushiwakamaru30 sometime life you cannoy explain movies as life. I do agree with your comment but "real" life may be worst or more disappointing.

  • @ushiwakamaru30 this movie puts yourself on the boy conscience, while we watch the movie we think he is the normal guy and she is crazy, at the end he abuses her, because she is sick, and because she can't do nothing about it. The movie is an awesome representation of this illness and mental problems plus like you said huppert is awesome also.

  • @M23MATERAZZI that's...actually a very good way of putting it. It makes sense. Thanks for that.

  • @ushiwakamaru30 : well if you watch this movie with your wite in your little suburb house, with conventionnal family values and no open mind, that movie can AND WILL BE a disappointment. But as deviant the character and as cruel the images and the words used, this movie depicts a REALITY : some people, many people on earth are as equally twisted as Isabelle Hupert's character. These kinda twisted drama happen every minute on earth. This movie depicts is beatifully. Just open your mind, please.

  • @superfh4040 without getting into too much detail, where I live is filled with what you're trying to convince me is "reality". I don't have to see it shoved in my face to believe it exists. As for "opening my mind". Please, huh. You're implying that my mind isn't open, that yours is, and you're neglecting the fact that maybe I just didn't like the movie. So to reverse things a bit: please, open YOUR mind and accept that not all people have the same perception of life and art.

  • the story of a masochist.. it's got something that most people will never understand..

  • she is a neurotic bitch

  • Très très bon montage et Chopin OK (j'auras choisi moins mélodramatique plus neutre, car les scènes sont déjà très forts). mais ... la qualité du son est mauvaise :-/ Peut-on le réparer? Ça sera parfait!

  • Shoulda played Schuman or Schubert. It would have been more appropriate...

  • What is th ename of the song please? very beautiful video!!! My favourite actress

  • Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig V Beethoven

  • Thank you !!! I'm french, so this video makes me very happy :) I really like thes actors and of course this movie

  • une icone du cinéma français. Toujours

  • I can't believe Isabelle has never been nominated for an Academy Award, especially for this! In my opinion, this is her best role, and I have greatly studied her work. Is it cause she goes where no one does! I can't see Mrs. Streep doing this role, as much as I love her. She couldn't do what Huppert does with the role and neither could anyone. This her perfect role, with the pentacle of her stoic philosophy of cold stone evil with the depths of female sexuality! Art is art! Superb artistry!

  • Exactly

  • @tolkienfan51 Thank you very much for your comment, your analysis is also perfect... I love Isabelle huppert she's a freak of comedy. you are right when you say that she goes where no one does... Once Sandrine kiberlain ( a french actress) said about her in this movie: " She goes so far that we don't know where to get her back ! "

  • Elfriede won the npbel prize for her body of work not for this "biographical" as per her words,in my opnion a masterpiece in writing and for Haneke a truimph...

  • Simplesmente maravilhoso!!!

  • does anyone know where I can watch this???

  • this is one of the most interesting roles isabelle ever played..

isabelle is such a great and good actress, la meilleure actrice du monde

  • Totally agree with you. She's wonderful.

  • This film left me speechless. The gloomy texture mixed with the preformances and the music, it all fell perfectly into place.

I don't think this film could have been any better. It instantly became my all time favorite and now I'm afraid seeing it a second time might spoil it. I decided I'm going to read the book instead.

Thanks God for "non Hollywood" cinema.

    J

  • The book is even better! Jelinek has arrived to sabotage the whole austrian culture through the desperate story of a neurotic woman...

Reading her magnificent novel is a great experience,an anforgettable torture!!!

  • well im glad youre infatuated with this film :)

  • when i said shit i meant it as disturbing films [in this context] so no need to get upset i wasnt calling la pianiste shit.

  • It did sound so! That's why I warned you to speak intelligibly. S* is not a word of admiration.

This movie is beautiful... and its eerie atmosphere could be compared the very best film adaptations of Stephen King's books.

  • you cannot call this film beautiful, its very well done and a excellent piece of art but beautiful it aint lol

  • How would not it be... the movie pictures... the way it has been done... the actors and the background... not to mention the more than genial plot and screenplay... wondrous...

  • well the movie made me feel very uncomfortable and has a dark tone all the way through i think. my personal un stan-ified opinion is that it isnt beautiful, to each his own.

  • It was meant to made viewers uncomfortable (to think about their deeply hidden fears and thoughst) and the dark tone expresses Elfi's dark world-view perfectly. She is brutally honest, and with her sensitivity, it is... just... brilliant...

  • you dont have to speak the queens english to be intelligent. eeeeeeeedyats

  • However, you should express your thoughts intelligibly.

And be careful with obscene words when you talk about a Nobel Prize winner author's work, I don't suppose you are more competent than Swedish Academy by judging the screenplay of this film!

  • ive seen some shit and this was by far the most disturbing movie ive ever seen

  • Be happy with it then. And firstly learn how to choose your words and express your opinion properly before you try to judge an art movie.

  • anyone can judge a film irrespective of how they talk, dont think u realise how pretentious u sound. fuck off.

  • I think judging a film does take some intelligence... especially in case of a film which was not meant to be a popcorn movie.

  • Extraordinary and beautiful movie! I liked the clip too

  • fucking love this film

  • Me f* too!

Elfriede Jelinek is a f* GENIUS! She is a miracle!

  • 피아졸라 의 피아노 즉흥곡입니다.

    퀼른음대는 즉흥곡이 있습니다

  • sick mind movie, she si sick!!! too abd I love her, but this movie was tough on me.

  • Elfriede Jelinek is not for lemon movies! She is the bravest and most intelligent lady ever. She got her Nobel Prize in Literature for a reason! Swedish Academy did never have a more fair and respectable decision than giving one to her!

  • i was talking about isabelle hupert, loved the film but too tough...when she cuts her vagina

  • And I was talking about the divine Elfriede. She is the one whose idea the whole story was. She did get her Nobel Prize for a reason! She's a brutally honest lady, true. She never shies away from descending into the depths of human mind.

  • A movie Hollywood would not be able to make..Ravissante!

  • I love Isabelle Huppert !!!

    Tough, disturbing movie tho!

  • It was meant to be one!

  • she was amazing also in the school of flesh.

  • How come I missed that one?????

  • Absolutely true! Jelinek is for values and not for sweet lies! Most honest genius ever.

    European art movie rulez!

  • why do you use a piece that is not even in the movie? Schubert would have been more appropriated

  • because I thought this piece would fit better my intention, besides I love it. and if I not mistake, there is a scene in which she is teaching Beethoven to a student and it's this piece. so it's in the movie.

  • Isabelle Huppert=best actress in the world today SUBLIME

    thanks for this vid

  • A very difficult film to watch indeed. But no film I can recall has looked so unflinchingly at the destructive scope and power of psychopathology. Hupperts character is clearly a malignant narcissist, as devoid of empathy as a sociopath and, it seemed , always aware of the depth of her imprisonment. Hupperts performance was stunning its force and discipline and bravery. There is no one like her.

  • I finally saw this movie and it did not disappoint.Even if it is a hard film to watch, it's a great one.

  • Wow!!! esta película es una maravilla y quien no la haya visto tiene qué hacerlo. La Sra. Huppert en un ENORME papel, que te provoca de todo: coraje, lástima, miedo, tristeza, empatía... esas son interpretaciones!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • damn...he's sooooo sexy, i'm drooling over him. French men are so damn sexy ohhh

  • gawd i love this woman

  • como se llama la melodia que suena por detras del videoo???

  • C'est le premier mouvement de la sonate N° 14 pour piano en ut dièze mineur dite au "clair de lune" de Beethoven

  • A mix of passion and pain. In this place only loneliness. Without colors. A great film with the best and worst of human being.

  • Very nice video of a truly remarkable movie with great acting by both Benoit Magimel and Isabelle Huppert

  • 1:51-2:01 Woah !!!

  • 1:27-1:29 woah...

  • the most shocking and provocative movie I have ever seen...really, really sad too...

  • nah...funny games is sicker !

  • She´s really fucked up.Isabella is fantastic. ( Benoir Magimel is soooooo sooooooo hansom .)

  • Great Video, great song, great film (but really disturbing) and great, great actress.

  • she is just a great transmitter of all human emotion, her eyes tell great stories.... big fan of isabelle!

  • isabelle is my favorite actress as well. great comment. she is a genius. in my opinion, she is the best actress in the world. she is soooooo good in the piano teacher and in every other film she has been in as well.

  • I found the movie score from this movie but this melody cant be found on it. sad...

  • i know this is not the right avenue to ask you this guys but i cant't help myself doing so: who do you think is better actress? meryl streep or isabelle huppert? i'd seen them both in their most dramatic moments - meryl in sophie's choice and isabelle in piano teacher. just a thought!

  • Hi! Well, if u ask me: 1)first of all: they are very different, aren't they? The only thing they have in common - they are both GREAT actresses; 2) If Huppert is magnificent, unique, incredibly talented, then Meryl Streep...hmmm...what should I say...A genius! A gorgeous genius. I've seen quite many of her films, and still it seems impossible to me to grasp all the measure of her enormous talent! :-)

  • and add juliette binoche

  • and add Marie Josee Croze. Check her on IMDB. She won best actress in cannes for Barbarian invasions. Though she does mainly french movies, she appeared in a spielberg movie but refuses to get in the US Movie industry.

  • Great question With out question isabelle but it is real close...

  • Both! Very rare that a Hollywood actress would be perfect for European art films - and Streep is like that. But Huppert, she is no less. She is just as erotic and sensitive.

  • bitter

  • Michael Haneke is a genius.

  • Well done! This movie is heartbeaking. Beethoven is a perfect match.

  • No wonder... considering the author of the novel and the screenwriter got her diploma in music! She is a well educated musician. And, by the way, a Nobel Prize winner author.

    ELFI JELINEK RULEZ!

  • Minstrey I agree. I love this music. Does anyone know what is the title?

  • It's Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata'.

  • Never saw this movie, however after this music I want to cry... so sad and beautiful. My favourite of claassical music.

  • this sonate has been constantly overplayed, unfortunately.

  • Beware this movie is very very strange : sexual deviant pianist teacher gets into strange stuff. I loved it though. Won may awards in Europe BUT not the average american movie ...

  • awesome movie and perfect music for the clip

  • I love this movie!

  • Genialny film, genialne aktorstwo!!

  • Great music and film:)Bravo!French actresses always so charmant...

  • great movie - benoit is so good in this film. so is isabelle

  • Yeah dnt get y she stabs her self in the end!!!!

    but a really beautiful film!!

    Jezxxxxxxxx

  • I think the end was the best it could be. And I don't think she died, the strike with a knife was more an attempt to stagnate all her anguish and suffering, and she would go on, maybe she went to some peepshow again afterwards. This kind of "open ending" is characteristic of Haneke's films.

  • I agree 100%. The strike w the knife was just the devian behavior going on. THat was not the end. She would go on, destroy herself .

  • The ending was meant to show that it was she who initiated interests in Walter as her "potential play mate" (as most of the whole film tried to deceive its audience into thinking that he was the one chasing after Kohut), not vice versa. I thought its use was quite clever, giving the film's main character Kohut an inability to escape from her own vicious cycle.

  • Not really. Both of them wanted. Erika was a danger for herself, and the guy was the trigger. From the film, I could understand that he loves her... no way. In the original version - the novel - he just wanted to use her! To learn from a grown-up women, then leave her for a younger one!

  • Aha, I see. I've never read the novel, so this sheds new light into the story. Thanks for the info, Mina!

  • My pleasure.

Elfriede's books are decidedly worth to read... I have just read The Piano Teacher... no words! Elfriede should be given another Nobel Prize in Literature!

I have never thought that one could win a Nobel Prize in a subject like Elfi - and she made it! Such a true genius.

  • As for the difference!

    The lady does SURVIVE!

In the last scene, she stabs herself on her shoulder, but not dangerously. She just walks away, bleeding.

Of course... genial Elfriede must KNOW that Erika, fortunately, was just too unsure and fickle to make such a decision! Initially Erika intended to stab the boy or beg him to love her... instead, she just wounded herself and walked away, then went on with her life.

  • britishbabe77:

I believe there's a reason why Haneke gave such an ending to this movie. She stabs herself: it shows that she's the one who started it all, but she can't stop herself from going around and around in this vicious cycle that she's in and experiencing all the misery again and again. It's an ending, and not a crap one either.

  • hey girls, what's the title of the song? =)

  • I'm not a girl, but I can give an answer : that's the "moonlight sonata", or la "sonate au clair de lune", de Beethoven.

I'm playing it, so I know this song...

    That's really beautiful.

  • It's a great film... I can't say anything else, it's just beautiful

  • I agree with clara. plus 5 and more. BEAUTIFUL
