I believe that when you hit 80, go arcane to do more DPS in 5-mans. FFB does actually take time to start doing damage because scorch and LB are not high damage moves initially. Arcane is brilliant for frontloading initial damage. Then, when you are geared, go FFB for raiding, as boss fights are long, and things like scorch and LB really start to pay off. And mana efficiency is better as FFB. Perhaps go FFB when you have 1700SP?

Remember: Arcane for DPS, FFB for Overall Damage.

I've tried all 3 and for raiding you just can't beat arcane in the current patch! I do around 4.5k dps for 25 man Naxx and although arcane AoE is limited compared to that of frost and fire, I tend to spam arcane explosion to keep my trinket stacked (max is 10 stacks of 20 spell power). Boss fight dps is alot higher than 4.5k since the single target dps of arcane mages is at least in my experience, can't be beaten by any other spec, as long as you use the correct rotation and glyphs :D

Also SP is 2nd to hit. crit is important but it has diminisihing efects when you get enough. Look up Zeidrich on vashj (my main) while raiding i have 55% crit and 2140 sp.....they finaly made mages able to allmost beat locks :D

at the end when you post about icy, combus you should use both at same time after everything is allrdy up...so you have the full duration of ice veins to use....maximizing dps. For the crits you were doing and dmg 2600 dps isnt too bad.

Like for example at 2:17 you shouldnt of stoped to click pyro....you should cast another ffb and mash pyro at the end of the cast...they actualy fly on top of one another....and you can start your next FFB much faster

The clicking hurts your dps significantly because normal rotation when your pyro procs you actualy cast it at exact same tim as last FFB to have allmost no downtime. Also you should throw living first because then you dont have a GCD in middle of your scorch and FFB casts.

On my mage i use the following: Arcane Blast x3 -> Arcane Barrage -> Arcane Blast x3 ->Arcane Barrage.

Thats pretty much it unless you get a Missile Barrage proc and replace Arcane Barrage with A Missiles instead. The only thing is that this spec is greedy on mana so its good to have a big mana pool to keep up dps

however you have food and potion (elixir of accuracy) that help you in hitting cap ^^

His dps was decent considering the gear he has. the only thing is the buff skill order is Hit, Crit, Spell power, intelect, haste. This is because of the benifits from crit and talents increasing overall damage output by %'s which increase significantly with higher spell power. Also Intelect is important for crit and Evo.

Fire mages in WotLK actually are not awful for pvp. Once in gear with high resil they can do decently well in BG's but not so in arenas.
