The north was passing tariffs on the south so they would sell their goods to the north and not Europe. The south would make more money if they sent it over to Europe. Think about this scenario, why does Greenspan or why did he knowingly interact with a free market system, having to know how much dammage it has caused. If Greenspan is at fault, which I believe a man with his intellect knew he was wrong, then why was he doing all of this? Why does it seem he hates the United States? Hey im not an anti-semite! If it were an arab as the fed cheif and he was fucking around with our money supply system, I would ask if he were pissed off at the western world for bombing Iraq or the support of Israel. Im just trying to identify why someone would knowingly screw with the system, especially someone who knows a lot about it. Is there a personal reason? We have 2 presidential candidates that agree for the bailout (700b+) lousy choices and no selection except for a WRITE IN CANDIDATE for a candidate for a that does not agree with the bailout.
The last I herd was that Congress represented the "People" and their boss was the "People"and many went against what majority of the "People" wanted in their district and went along with the people that created the problem. You voted in your problems.

If you understand economics and investment you will understand that Warren B's deal is 1000x's better than the deal the US gov will get... Warren B is NOT buying "toxic paper" - he is getting Preferred Stock that comes with a guaranteed dividend (INCOME) plus warrants to purchase additional stock at a set price if the GS stock rise (which it WILL)...

Buffet got a 10% discount on that Goldman Sachs stock. He's not buying it at the same price other people buy it at. Also Buffett buys stock to own, so I'm not sure why he would be all that into buying up derivatives.

Warren Buffet couldn't understand derivatives and wouldn't invest in them...yet he smells government bailout and all of a sudden Goldman Sachs looks like a good investment....and then PUMPS for the bailout after he made the investment. He's a traitor to the country and the principles of a free market.
