What the hell is Cal talking about? Jeter is being deferent and Cal is ribbing him. I grew up an Os fan and dislike the Yankees, but Jeter is a better baseball player.
@kaviraj I think your taking the interview totally the wrong way.. Cal is pointing out he's only missed out on like an average of 3-4 games the last few seasons..and Jeter is saying he'd like to play every day no matter what the cost.. where is your argument..? Cal is playing the devil's advocate here.. every Yankee's would like to see Jeter play 162 and so would Jeter.. hello?
@kaviraj Cal is just asking him his take on his responsibility to the fans like he felt when he played. He actually pointed out that jeter pretty much plays all year except for 3 or four games...
@kaviraj Dude are you stupid? If you look at the both when Ripken was a SS from 1983-1996 and take Jeter from his debut they are same stat wise. Jeter like Ripken has broke down offense wise. They share the same OPS+ Ripken 117(83-96) Jeter 119. Only a 2 difference. Know what a OPS+ is?
@kaviraj Also you negate the arguement that Jeter has always been the near the bottom of the league in range factor at shortstop, while Ripken has been at the top fielders at short from 1983-96.
@kaviraj Also your one the responding in the wrong way. Take what would Jeter or Ripken's season been had you let them took a day off. Ripken been over 500 HRs, 2,000 RBIs numbers Jeter never reach. We also dont know how many more hits he could got. As for Jeter what would he done in 2003 only playing 119 games been at 3,000 hits. Now Ripken reached 3,000 hits at age 39, Jeter will bar injury at age 37 next year, or 36 last year. Drop it, there both 1st ballots. Unlike A-Fraud.
These are two of the "classiest" guys in all of basbeall. No crap, they made and do make baseball worth watching. Few can say that. Cal and Jeet, both, do soo much for kids at the minor league level too.

Jeter is such a Chick magnet

Why does Jeter still call Joe Torre, Mr. Torre? Yet he calls Joe Girardi, his current manager, "Girardi"... weird.
You'd think he would be more "Mr." to his current manager, not the guy who isn't around anymore...

@audiophile331 he played with girardi tho so its different

Man, a tough Q to have to take from Rip. It's like if MJ had a radio show, invited LeBron, and asked him why he hadn't won a ring yet. Ouch!
