hey man, I got issue with verify my spykee, I can log in locally, i can log in through my router, but when i press that verify button, it keep saying I didn't connect to internet...(which i am) do you have any idea why?

In the My spykee tab where you put in your Spykee's name and password I get an error message saying The remote account in invalid. I did type in the correct name and password because i received a verification email on my registration that had all the robots info. What was on the email is what i typed in.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ! WHEN I TRY TO ADD A WIFI NETWORK TO SPYKEE IN AD HOC MODE HE JUST DISCONNECTS FROM MY COMPUTER. SOMETIMES I WILL SAVE ALL THE SETTINGS, BUT IT WONT SAVE, AND THEN WHEN I RESTART SPYKEE HE WILL JUST FLASH AND NOT MAKE AND BEEPING NOICE AT ALL. PLEASE HELP THANK YOU.

DO NOT FORGET THE SPYKEE WORLD USERNAME!!!!!!! I you are going to connect to your robot from somewhere else you need to type it in on the remote robot section when you try and connect. An THEN you use the normal username and password. :)

well you see a on my street cameover to set up spykee for me but sonce my dad told him the wrog stuff to put in i cant use over internet but i can use it buy connecting to local robots and a chap called razordude told me to start a new connections with my spykee but ive tryed like 40 times but it doesnt add it to my networks page so i cant connect to it to reconfigure it so can you help me in any way

i have the mac address and everything there but when i do this im not connected to the internet as i'm connected spykee locally as thats all i hav him on, and when i click verify it tells me i need to be connected to internet, but thats impossible to be connected to him and the internet, IM GONNA SCREAM!!!!!

Hi I've been on that and put my router in which was bt homehub and i selected that 1st sm whatever, however it deosn't have that box, you were talking about, I've still tried the way when you enter the IP into internet explorer but it came up with page cannot be displayed. Any help would be apreciated thanks. Could you please recomend another server thingy please.

No.....unless things have changed. I haven't tried any new firmware updates (if there are any) It's WEP or no encryption (i.e. turning enc off and it would work....bit dodgy though!)

thanks for the quick response! i really appreciate it! but if you have a little time can you explain exactly what i have to do to get the rovio going? that would be great. the only way i can get it to work is at home with my iphone and the pc...im sure its just connected to the wifi...want to connect from other pcs and iphone out of the house

Well the rovio is a LOT easier. It's all browser based.

I haven't done a video because it's easy....

You just forward the ports and you're done, there's nothing tricky.....

I have tried everything but still get "robot unavailable" when i try to connect remotely. I have no problem connecting locally but not remote!!

I wonder if my Netgear DGN200 router is the problem?

I managed to connect at last......I got advice from spykee support....they told me to make my robots name 8 characters long or less..and same with the password...that did the trick :)

hi im using a Dlink DIR 300 on windows vista ive entered the ip adress of the spykee robot but when i click save changes its says invalid ip adress the IP and router adresses should be in the same network

Is the error only "invalid password" does it give any other information?

Open your router config page (username and password are default admin, unless you've changed them)

Click the Applications & Gaming link near the top of the page.

See the "port range" boxes?

Enter the following [this] represents what to input.

Application [spykee] start [9090] end [9090] protocall [both] ip address [spykee's address] enable [ticked]

On the "my spykee" tab of the robot does the "verify" button work? That might be causing your password problems...

I've come across several people with your symptoms but never been able to replicate it *except* when I'm either not logged in with the master "admin" account or logged in remotely.

Don't create a new account, just change the admin password. If you've already deleted the admin account then reset the robot on the bottom and start over.

Svengale i need HELP because i followed your tutorial and i set every thing the same as yours and now my robot wont connect to my laptop it wont even connect in ad hoc mode when i search my wireless connections it wont pick up spykees wifi and on the settings menu (the two cogs) i cant access the the settings i set from the tutiorial because the little picture of the robot isint there PLEASE HELP.

If you cannot connect, even in adhoc mode the only option you have is to reset the robot via the small button on the bottom and start over :(

You connect to it like any other wireless network. Turn the robot on, then browse available wifi networks and you should see one named "Spykee".

It tells you in the manual how to reset. You have to push a paperclip in the small hole/button on the buttom.

Try resetting the robot (there is a small button on the bottom of the robot that you must use a paperclip to push) that will reset everything and give the robot the default username and password - do you see it then?

The only way you cannot see the robot is if you're logged in over the internet. Or you're logged in from an account that doesn't have admin rights.

I'm a great fan of the concept and it looks like Spykee goes a long way, but it's irritating to think that a little extra attention to detail could have made this perfect. Camera tilt (even just on the vertical), WPA and possibly SREMEC would have made this a killer product.

It is afterall a toy, I can't name a single one of my friends wifi that runs anything other than WEP. Although some of these improvements could also come in firmware updates.

The WEP wouldn't be my biggest concern...

Agreed, firmware updates can deal with WEP encryption issues so that's not beyond hope. If it's Linux under the hood then there is always the chance for some community modding.

The head tilt problems (including the potential for the camera to be knocked) are the deal breakers for me. I guess the neck could be braced - but I would love to see some movement.

I can't knock Meccano though.
