  • The Clean Rain first flush diverter is automatic, activating when water is detected to divert the first flush of water.

The manual switch shown at 2:13 provides on/off function and is used to manually direct water away from the cistern.

With regards to the effectiveness of first flush. Massey University/New Zealand investigated the benefits concluding from preliminary results that water quality improves dramatically.

  • A device that requires a manual switch to be applied will not be used for long.

First flush devices are 100% ineffective when it comes to water quality and at best might be useful for diverting the large debris.

  • how much ? $

  • I purchased two at The Urban Farmer Store in San Francisco. They were easy to install by removing a section of downspout and works as a rain head, first flush and diverter. When the barrels are full, I simply switch the diverter and the downspout discharges exactly where it did before.

  • @limehouse10 what did they run you?
