wow considering stock v6 2011's usually do 15's, that dif does a hell of a change in accel. You probably saw a small drop in MPG though but well worth the money.
That's sick man just sick, I want a 5.0 but I would not be unhappy to take a V6 either. I drive the new V6's at work all the time and love them(being rental mustangs their all auto's tho which sucks) but that new V6 is just an insane engine. I still haven't ran my 04 GT yet, I've run my neighbors new V6, out the hole he hooks up way better and it takes a bit to catch him, from a roll I pull away hard though :P, I need fatter tires lol. Btw shoot the driver of the 2010 GT, low 14's? come on..
the driver of the GT has issues. Having owned both cars... the 2010 GT is hands down a better faster car. Your all talking HP and not a single person talks Torque and power band. Two things the GT has over the 6er.... bad driversr
I wouldn't exactly call a high 12 pass for a 05-10 GT a wet dream, as it doesn't take much to get a 05-10 S197 to attain that with the right simple combo. I Know from experience from my own car and others like it. and it ain't no dream.
Good thing my brother waited till the 2011 mustang v6! But I think that the camaro is getting pushed out of the picture here cause it's starting to get boring cause the mustang beats it everytime
must suck for all the ppl who bought a 2010 GT only a few months later the mustang V6 was just as fast and as powerful...and they missed out on the extra 100hp from the new 5.0...if i was anyone owning a 2010..i would trade it in for a 2011 5.0 fast ...lol
Ford really made a great 5.0 but really crapped on all of the ppl who have bought the 2010 model...
Yeah, I hear you on that, but the 2010 GT with the optional 3.73 gearing is still pretty quick though. It ran 0-60 in 4.9 & the 1/4 Mile in 13.6 @ 104.2 in the crappy magazines. I know it's no 5.0 but with 315 HP/325 TQ and the great deal you can now get b/c of the new 5.0 and V6 > It's not so bad. The 2010 owners can throw a s/c or turbo on their 3v and kick the 4v 5.0's ass. That's what I would do if I were them. I do see what you're saying though. That does kind of suck.
@IrishChris1979 Yes 2010 GT ran those numbers in the crappy magazines but in air that was equal to 1200 ft BELOW sealevel which is like freeing up another 30-35 hp and the mags have professional drivers that can drive much better than 95% of the rest of us in the world... In reality 0-60 is more in the realm of 5.3 sec....
@dunnigan66 The only thing with that is in times posted by magazines, they do dozens of runs by guys who do nothing but test cars everyday. I agree he could've done better, but when you look at the stock 2005 GT's magazine time of 13.7, you'll find it's better than a lot of the low 14's in real world runs. That being said, my "05 does well to run 13.3's with an off road X pipe, CAI, and Bama custom tune on stock tires!
Thanks, ya I bought the car with the upgraded 3.31s so I can't really say I know the difference in feel. Diablosport actually dynotuned my car to create the canned tune for everyone else and I still love the tune. I also have the bama tunes from American muscle but they give me a loping idle and other problems so I gave up on them.
@usaf2008 Give AM a call, they fix loping issues very quickly. Many times it is just because people don't let the car idle long enough on the first startup after the tune to let the car adjust its idle. People on the AFM forums who complain about the idle always seem to get it fixed when Chris from BAMA replies to their post.
Great Run.. Did you buy the car with the upgraded 3.31s or were you able to run it with the 2.73s? Wanted to know if you felt the difference and if you took it to the track with 2.73s.. Also are you still running the Diablo CAN tune or did you get a custom tune yet?
Great Run.. Did you buy the car with the upgraded 3.31s or were you able to run it with the 2.73s? Wanted to know if you felt the difference and if you took it to the track with 2.73s..
GT HAS MORE TORQUE . 45 LBS MORE TO BE EXACT , SO STOP SAYING THE HORSEPOWERS ALMOST THE SAME . ANY REAL RACER WILL TELL YOU ITS TORQUE THATS GOING TO GET YOU DOWN THE TRACK . THESE RACES POSTED ON HERE IS DRIVER VS DRIVER . YES THE V6 CAN WIN . BUT .. IF YOU PUT A GOOD DRIVER IN A GT VS A GOOD DRIVER IN A V6 THEN IT BECOMES CAR VS CAR . GT WILL WIN ALL DAY BY AT LEAST A CAR AND A HALF IN THE STREET AND .3 AT THE TRACK . I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE A 07 AND GET CHALLENGED ALL THE TIME .
@wolverinemma The hp game is a funny thing. Looking at dyno sheets the 10 Mustang GT is only 5hp more at peak to the 11 Mustang V6 but from 2.5k - 5k rpms the 4.6 V8 avg 45hp & 57.5tq more then the 3.7 V6.
Plus the 10 GT weighs less than the 11 Mustang V6 so with equal drivers a good stock 10 GT will always beat a good stock 11 Mustang V6.
The fact the new V6 is even being compared to V8 shows what an awesome engine it is.
@heslekrants I am impressed with the V6 as well , I am just tired of people posting the V6 beats V8s . Actually I am pretty sure these people dont own either so at my age I should know better than arguing at all .
@wolverinemma I'm with you on the age & knowing better. LOL
I look at it as informing the misguided. My Wife's old 06 V6 Mustang with 4.10 gears was a beast from 0-60 but had nothing after 80 and didn't have the V8 sound. The 11 V6 has some impressive upper end power!
My daily driver is a 10 Challenger SRT8 that ran a 12.83 in the 1/4 stock and with a tune pulled a 8.08@92 in the 1/8.
@wolverinemma the 6er is def an impressive vehicle but it just doesnt have that low end grunt that the GT has. i too used own an s197 GT, went to an f150 and now i own a 2011 V6 and comparing the 2 does yield some interesting results. like i said the 6 doesnt have the low and torque that the GT has but it really does shine at the higer RPM's and at highways speeds. Its too close to tell but I wouldnt be surprised if a stock 6 could end up pulling a bit on a stock 4.6 GT
@wolverinemma of course that is all speculation on my part, the only real way to tell is to actually run the two at highway speeds. also the gearing on the 6 is completely different with the 6 speed and 2.73 gears i believe. On another note the new 5.0's have been running some pretty awesome times at the track.
@TerminatorSVT yep the new GT has alot of potential , check out the guys who built all my Mustangs , type in UPR racing and check out Jeremys newest E/T in the Red GT.
gt shoulda won no dought, its the same car with more horsepower. driver error lol an yes a good driver in a gt can get 13's iv seen it happen all the guy had was exaust an intake
Dang that dude in the GT can't drive at all you should be able to break a high 12 low 13 in the GT"s easy Great drivin on your part though you should throw an intake and flowmaster exhaust on there
@Domman56 Well it is the 4.6L 2010 GT, not the 2011 5.0, so to his credit I think he should be running more like high 13's. Im not 100% on that though.
@usaf2008 We ran my wife's 2010 Mustang GT auto 2 weeks ago for the 1st time. It only has 1,500 miles on it and ran 13.5s all night except for the last run & got a 13.4@104
The new V6 with the 3.31 gears is very impressive but goto 4.10 gears & it will be a beast
@usaf2008 I havent seen one yet go below 14... On the other hand your year V6 run under 14 all day and the new 5.0 highest ive seen run 13.5 lowest 12.7... Great job on fords part for 2011
@gonza1152 My Wife's stock 2010 Mustang GT auto ran 13.4@104 with only 1,600 miles on it. Now with over 3K miles it feels a bit quicker. Not near as fast as the 2011 Mustang GT but we bought our 10 GT when they were almost giving them away. The same dealer wanted $18,000 more an equal optioned 11 GT over the 10 GT.
@gonza1152 Raced at PIR, search my name I posted a video of it. Probably going to install 4.10 gears this year & that should get down to 12.9 from what I've read.
@heslekrants Thats impressive my G35S 6 M/T ran a 13.5 @ 104 @ bradenton speed way corrected time is actually 13.3 but it has Dual stillen intakes... I've never seen that year stang be that quick... But nice car i love that ford is actually getting the big picture and making real sports cars not the garbage they where making before...

@krypekeeper Ya dude 2010 Gt's run mid to hugh 13's and dream of 12's like their big bro the 5.0... But nice run man. Best i've managed with my auto is 14.01 at 101.59 got the slip to prove it! But with a set of gears right slicks and a tune High 12's are forseable
@Domman56 ive seen a stock 2010 gt w/ track pack which adds 3.73s run 13.2 and then the same car w/ off road x pipe run 12.98, but i would still rather have the 11 v6, if you had 4.10s or 4.30 with drag radials easily would be a low 13 car

@codeman6669 What weights do you have & where did you get them? What I got off the Ford website for manual/auto tranny were
2010 GT= 3,401/3,454 lbs
2011 V6 Mustang= 3,453/3,478 lbs
2011 5.0 Mustang= 3,586/3,653 lbs
We put our 10 GT on a truck scale & it was 3,400lbs. I don't have any actual weights for the 2011 Mustangs.
