  • This is a great video

  • good work here

  • you have some great stuff here

  • Representing Vietnam to the fullest. We need more powerful and respectful men like you Thich Nhat Hanh.

  • A truly remarkable man - it's almost unbelievable that a human being could embody such compassion, gentleness, strength and simplicity. As a Westerner I would love to be like him but we are not predisposed to being 'passive' in the way Orientals are - and when we try to ape them we look like the big, angular, self-conscious posers in this audience.

  • @zthetha Yes, a testament that his effect upon people is as immediate, gentle & genuine as it is. You make an honest (and humorous) point about some general contrasts between Western & Asian cultures. Traditionally, Asian cultures tend to prize modesty, humility, restraint. Such traits can have positive or negative aspects, depending upon various factors. But, in Thich Nhat Hahn, these traits seem all of a truly authentic piece/peace, in the most healthy & naturally empowering sense.

  • Walpola Rahula says lose yourself in mindfulness

Thich Nhat Hanh says come home to yourself

    Walpola says "breath body"

    Thich says "body"

Walpola says mindfulness does NOT mean being conscious "I am..."

the sattipatana sutta says "he is aware, I AM breathing in"

Will someone please help me understan

  • @ thegrandwazoo. Either your perception is skewed or they genuinely were giving you the cold shoulder. If it is the latter, dont let a few bad apples ruin the bunch. Buddhism is about what you learn from it and how YOU use it. What others do is their karma and their individual path. Search for another group or start your own layperson group. However, if you think that your perception of the individuals' actions may have been wrong, then try returning or opening up and asking about it. Just sug

  • I was interested in buddhism and i went to Mindful Living meetings( Plum village tradition). However after a few weeks the couple who ran the centre began to be really unfriendly towards me ...so eventually I stopped going.Baffled how I could possibly have offended them by sitting meditating. Can anyone enlighten me ...I has sort of put me off Buddhism.

  • @thegrandwazoooo

I would not let that stop your seeking of knowledge and peace. It does seem really strange to me as I have only encountered nice people along my path in regards to others who are seeking mindfulness. Find a new place and I am sure it will work out! Best wishes. Stephen

  • i'm in gratitude that this available to watch/hear. thank you!

  • Ahhh so relaxing

  • I hope all islamic people begin to see the art in universal and indifferent love.

  • I enjoy the word "picnic."

  • Touching.. he speaks from heart and his compassion flows through..

  • Thank you.

  • living dharma x

  • To practice just being lazy. Hehe. That's so cute :)

  • Thich Nhat Hanh is one of the only modern-spiritual teachers (of our time) that I find authentic. All these other guys seem like their personalities are gone and it feels like a con.

  • Thanks a lot for wonderful post's!

  • get comfortable :)

  • Cam on Thay da cho con duoc nghe bai Phap qui bau.

  • Picnics, Picnics, Picnics, Lazy Days, Lazy days, Lazy Days!!!!!! I think I live my life pretty well.

  • Wow this monk is so amazing. One day i saw his talk and i start to interest in buddhist. I live in Poland but I really want to see him one day.

  • Words of peace and wisdom

  • Thank you very much for posting this, Please take a sit and listen to the bell & close your eyes, its beautiful!!!! do you feel it too ?

  • Yes, thank you for these postings. They are very helpful.

  • some people are so ambitious they forget to let go of their anxiety while having a necessary vacation. this is a good reminder.

  • You try to help people in this world by perpetuating myths and falsehoods. That helps no one.

  • I like him but he must meet the messiah, the messiah his who can save him and everybody in this world, the messiah is who can fullfil GODs will..his on earth now!!

  • @elperugrande1954 Mindless drone. There is no messiah. It's all in your head.

  • @uuunderground dont treatme like that I just try to help people in this world..the messiah is sun.............from korea....

  • @elperugrande1954 I am learned that these persons like you are destroying temples in Korea (thank for youtube). Do you know that it means you are destroying your own culture, your own ancestors ? However, according to Confucius, we should respect and love our ancestors, our culture, I am not korean but when I see these images, I feel so so sad.

    Greetings from France

  • thank you so much.

  • A great man of deep philosophy.

  • I watched all the clips 1-5. I enjoyed them. Thanks! The major thing I learned was when Thich Nhat Hanh said that God is the Present Moment, the Here and Now. That was the knowledge I didn't know. God is the Spirit, the Truth, the Loving Kindness, the Universal Love. To live in the Present Moment is to experience God with every step and every breath. This is a priceless knowledge. Thank you! It will help me throughout my life.

  • It's so nice to be here! Finally. Thanx a lot for posting! It is of a great help 2. Merci!

  • Ich grüsse meinen Zen Meister Nhat Hanh und Phap Hoat ! Liebe Grüsse Robert jampasiri geb. Obrusnik

  • good that drav1dan removed his comment. I think this means he is becoming more and more serious about enlightenment.

  • there are gaps in between the thoughts

stay in the gaps and watch what happens

  • For the busy-bodies, 'being lazy' is a silly and wasteful thing to do, and to change their mindsets, watching this, should come like an enlightenment

  • Is Tich Nhat Hanh fully awakend?

  • First ask what fully awakened is. You'll know if he is or not when you know that.

  • Do you really expect an answer? Nobody could tell and I guess that even he wouldn't answer.

  • if he won't know, then he is not awake. many people are fully awake and they tell you how it is.

  • Sorry, but you misunderstood my comment.

nobody else could know if he is awaken.

And he proberly wouldnt answer such a question (even if he would be awaken) because there might be no benefit for others to know.

Just as the Buddha (Gautama) remained silent in many cases when he was questioned about philosophical matters.

To my mind a wise (not only the enlightend one) should know when to talk and what to say.

  • You could always notice more, the concept of "fully" is an absolute, and there are no absolutes. Being awakened is just opening yourself up to the external realities - just like driving a car, you can use your eyes and ears and be observant to make the road safer for other people, or you can just look right on ahead and ignore everything else cept where you're headed, that's the difference really, just apply that concept to other people's emotions and how you and your actions affect the world..

  • It's also about finding a good internal balance, you can cast your mind into your past, into planning your future, or into your imagination even while you're doing other things like work, you can also be in the present finding the best way to enjoy whatever it is you're doing :)

Don't think people should have given a thumbs down to that question, it's a good one worth asking :) Peace.

  • @mrcuteblackie

yes he is though not yet a buddha, now what many already consider divinity. listen to the words of the wise teacher.

  • What does it matter wether he is awakend or not? It does'nt! Ther's no point in making destinctions like that because that will only confuse you. We can't know anything, my friend :)

  • we shouldnt concern ourselves with the level of attainment of others. we need to be aware of our own minds, not the minds of others. if you know your own mind, you know and understand all mind

  • Comment removed

  • The teaching is simple but not simplistic. His teaching goes directly to the heart because it comes directly from his heart.

  • I want to have a picnic!!!

  • such a sincere, committed and beautiful soul. i feel his wormth from a tv screen.

loveandpeace and thank you mr tich not hahn.

  • Thich Nhat Hanh is a walking miracle. How a small man with a voice so soft like Hanh has the power to slowly change the world like he does? What a blessing to our generation and generations to come. Thank you Thay! We never met but we know each other in happiness and suffering. God bless your heart.

  • First DHarma book I found ..was by this master.
