I think the cars tire went flat from the hit with the curb.I think he shot through the grill and hit the engine block with a rifle powerful enough to break the block. Then again maybe the car just didn't have enough power at idle to move after he shot the front tire but it looks like the shot is into the grill. But he would of had to of somehow of missed the radiator cause there was no steam so idk.

@AndrewNoNumbers - the front end of the car swings out wider than the rear, whether the car is going forward or backward. Shooting out the tyres increased the drag just enough to overcome the torque from the transmission. Cops are taught to follow the book, not think and use their initiative.
Should have just opened (broken if necessary) the driver's side door or window and climbed in.
@JBofBrisbane not always true, my manual is all f-ed up and get's stuck in gear sometimes. I have to turn the car off to stop the damn thing, because I literally cannot put it in neutral. That's what they should have done here...unless something REALLY weird happened with the car, where the keys were out of the ignition.

Yep, exactly the reason that it is illegal nowadays in almost all states, if not all states, to leave your car running while it is unattended. Even to warm it up in the winter you have to sit in it while it warms up. Many localities actually are very strict about cracking down on that law too.

Oh no! This is the era of American inginuity at its best. This is when American car companies slapped a few pieces of metal together, put a motor in it, and called it a car. American's bought plenty of them too. If it hadn't have been for Japanese auto makers like Toyota, Nissan/Datsun, and Honda who came in and showed the world how a car is suppose to built, American auto makers would've maintained this devastating path of poor workmanship to this day!

This is probably because Toyota and Honda today, is being built right here in the U.S. Yes! Japanese auto makers were under pressure for taking away almost all of the sales market during the late 80's. They had to improvise so they decided to build production plants here in the U.S. to provide jobs for Americans.
The sticky pedal could just be another example of poor american workmanship.

@throttlehard: Actually, cars of the '70s were probably a lot better made than say..........the 1920s{Now THOSE were the days they slapped pieces of metal together and tried to pass those off as cars}? And yeah, Japanese cars were spectacular back then, but they're getting a little iffy nowadays...............don't get me started on fasc.........*ahem* I mean, 'Communist' China.

Fords were infamous for doing this. I had a '72 Mustang that did the same thing.
Luckily a friend ran and popped it back into park and shut it off while I stood there numb wondering what the heck was going on.
Geez it was rather scary at the time. I wonder if Ford ever dealt with the issue.
There must have been a class action brought against them. Does anyone know about the problem?
