yes, the tribute summon rule didn't come into effect until Kaiba's Battle City Tornement. it was added to make the game not completely cheap, but yeah, when the card game first came out, sacrifice rule wasn't in it, which i think that rule should have been there from the beginning

I got the name "Yami" from one episode I remember. It's Japanese for "Dark" or "Darkness" so Atem ended up being called "Yami Yugi" for a while, literally "Dark Yugi". Atem is also known as Yami by his fanbase. Being generally easier to remember "Yami" is the name most people use for Atem. It's kind of the same thing as how most people call Joey "Joey" and not Jounouchi.
