I just saw it and it is NOT a masterpiece, but rather an intelligent look at perspective to greed among humnas. The acting was well done. Johnny Depp, as always, did the best job possible with his role as the Mad Hatter. He was sweet one moment and insane the next. His character's moods are fascinating as he changes from sad to powerfully courageous and ruthless in a second.

This is a fantastic movie. Got to say, the best part is Johnny Depp (and are we at all surprised by that?) playing the Mad Hatter who is insane and multiple personality. Have to love that Scottish accent!
You know I have to say I liked the original pre-production look of the Mad Hatter better than the one they used in the movie. I guess because it looks more steampunk and not cartoony. I managed to download the pic before the powers that be made them pull the image. It's worth a look for comparison if you can find it.

i think it was tim burton's interpretation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory made him do that... it's his style, kinda gothic and surreal and odd. his movies arent really intended for kids.... =)
While Depp's an amazing actor, I think there's way too much hype over him being the Mad Hatter. I mean, the posters and trailers alone make it seem like he's the main character, not Alice :/ And personally, I hate the costume and make-up for the Mad Hatter, and preferred Martin Short in a previous movie.
Besides that, the movie plot just seems way too similar to "The Looking Glass Wars" by Frank Beddor.

Well, that might be because we're all used to Disney's portrayal of the Queen, who is a big lady. Alice in Wonderland and Beyond The Looking Glass are books after all and the queen can look any way you picture her. Burton thought she looked as shown above. Besides, if you ask me, the Queen of Hearts is supposed to quite high strung, and I generally imagine such ppl as skinny and small. Also, are the RQ and the QoH the same in the movie? Cause they're different characters in the books...

Johnny Depp, as always, did the best job possible with his role as the Mad Hatter. He was sweet one moment and insane the next. His character's moods are fascinating as he changes from sad to powerfully courageous and ruthless in a second.

This is a fantastic movie. Got to say, the best part is Johnny Depp (and are we at all surprised by that?) playing the Mad Hatter who is insane and multiple personality. Have to love that Scottish accent!

You know I have to say I liked the original pre-production look of the Mad Hatter better than the one they used in the movie. I guess because it looks more steampunk and not cartoony. I managed to download the pic before the powers that be made them pull the image. It's worth a look for comparison if you can find it.

lol i just looked at some of the comments: did anyone acc go see it at the cinema because most people seem to have seen it on some online thing Yeah and i really enjoyed it, i saw it on the 5th and cant wait for the soundtrack to come out tomorow. Critics keep on compairing it to Avatar and because Avatar was filmed in 3D, Alice in Wonderland is some how less enjoyable because the 3D effect was added once the filming was complete. Also people think it is a remake when it is a sequel. Great film

Sadly I love Johnny but any childs book/movie he does he destroys and really takes away from the movie.
Perfect point is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Go read the book and watch the ORIGINAL and then watch his version. He turned Wonka into a social retard/MJ type of character...the very opposite of what Wonka was.

i think it was tim burton's interpretation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory made him do that... it's his style, kinda gothic and surreal and odd. his movies arent really intended for kids.... =)

While Depp's an amazing actor, I think there's way too much hype over him being the Mad Hatter. I mean, the posters and trailers alone make it seem like he's the main character, not Alice :/ And personally, I hate the costume and make-up for the Mad Hatter, and preferred Martin Short in a previous movie.
Besides that, the movie plot just seems way too similar to "The Looking Glass Wars" by Frank Beddor.

Well, that might be because we're all used to Disney's portrayal of the Queen, who is a big lady. Alice in Wonderland and Beyond The Looking Glass are books after all and the queen can look any way you picture her. Burton thought she looked as shown above. Besides, if you ask me, the Queen of Hearts is supposed to quite high strung, and I generally imagine such ppl as skinny and small. Also, are the RQ and the QoH the same in the movie? Cause they're different characters in the books...
