  • 40 people dont realize

  • I'm always impressed by the Flaming Lips drummer.

  • I compare this to a high school talent show.

  • @pittsburgh199 cool story bro

  • @pittsburgh199 I compare you to a high school student

  • @pittsburgh199 I compare you to a piece of shit.

  • great fucking song brings a tear to my eye in a good way every time i hear it

  • Great song, great performance. I just wonder where the keyboard sound comes from. Pre-recorded?

  • @ThePeroola Paul Shaffer is on keyboards...depending on the camera angle, you can see him at various times.

    #t=200s

  • @ThePeroola Paul Shaffer. He's playing with them on Keys.

  • @ThePeroola Keyboard player at 3:20

  • hell yeah. best band in all the world

  • probably commented already but one more time one of the greatest bands thanks for the great video post

  • jeez hes pretty of key great song tho

  • when i lived in oklahoma (were there from) they would come for consert ALL of the time. i went to one and it was AMAZING!! best consert ever!!!!

  • This drummer has the most fucking energy i've seen.

  • what a difference from 95' "she dont use jelly" to this!

  • My dad died just after this song came out. A month later, my divorce was finalized. I listened to this song over and over. This song/album/band helped me through the roughest time in my life. I saw them in concert in Phoenix, opening for RHCP. I am forever grateful to Wayne Coyne and the Flaming Lips.

  • this song is awesome it only brings back good memories

  • This is just awesome.....actually, awe inspiring.

  • The guy on the Wayne's right and to the left of the screen looks like a male version of me! It's uncanny and a really good like, I must say....

  • pal frio xD

  • his voice is raspy sometimes on purpose, its his sort of style

  • i have an EPIC man-crush on Wanye Coyne. the man is a true hero.

  • Do you realize, Lily, how much I love you? - Snape

  • Comment removed

  • Hey lead singer is Mance Rayder

  • crap...its all bout thea shoul play in my löiving room

  • Snape joined a band?

  • This song is the best therapy money can buy

  • This song played by The Reign of Kindo sounds so much better than the original.

  • Holy shit people have to stop making witty comments about the small majority of people who dislike a video. It's fuckin retarded.

  • @joperrot

I guess you meant to say "small MINORITY".

  • @Abaddon133 haha yea...I meant minority. That kinda just took a giant dump on the coolness of my comment.

  • @joperrot - It was probably funny the first 50000 times it was done.

  • Again his hand doesn't change position when the chord changes. This happens in quite a few of the live performances. Is he really playing it or is it a recording? :/

  • morons whining about his voice are missing the point entirely. Go watch autotuned videos with bieber or some other crap if actual, real voices bother you.

  • His voice may not be "perfect" but you gotta admit where sang around 2:30 that's was pretty on key :D Either way I'll love this band forever :D they've had some AMAZING albums. So far I've only heard The Soft Bulletin and everything after that :D

  • @MrMacGrungy If you're curious, I would recommend Transmissions from the Satellite Heart and Clouds Taste Metallic next.

  • @MrMacGrungy Hi there. Go get the earlier albums, you won't regret it. I too would strongly recommend Transmissions, Clouds taste Mettalic, but also Hit To Death in The Future Head. Every album is different, but these 3 are slightly rawer than more recent stuff...full of typically great Lips tunes though. Enjoy!

  • @MrMacGrungy to be fair thats all you really need to hear :P

  • @MrMacGrungy OK, reccomend transmissions and clouds, some of the older stuff is alright (in my oppinion)

  • @MrMacGrungy His voice is beyond perfect.

  • @menyc22 i know, it's like nobody appreciates dissonance at all.

  • Saw them a few hours ago! :D

  • @Flowerpower210

    Woo BLUESFEST!

  • 2:29 Guitar Hero missed a note :)

  • This is the saddest, happiest song ever made. Also if your really a fan, you'll love them no matter how much his voice cracks. The dude has been through the gauntlet, give him a break. he is still a amazing musician.

  • Do you realize?? I've spent an hour listening to this song in an attempt to fully grasp its beauty?

  • Comment removed

  • I agree Wayne's vocals are not as good as on the album. I don't know if it's because he's getting old or what, but I was a bit disappointed. The drumming is great though.

  • Just Passion

  • I'm seeing flaming lips and primis

  • They're coming to Summerfest!!! Go Wisconsin!!!

  • Comment removed

  • isn't that the jonny greenwood guitar? the one that seteven is playing...

  • COOL ...THANKS !

  • WAYNE COYNE RULES!!!!!

  • At Ottawa Blues fest in july :D!

  • @Flowerpower210 I'll be there

  • 38 people do not realize that everyone they love one day will die.

  • Does anyone know what song is being played at the beginninng of this video?

  • @MR917621 It souds like Letterman's bands version of UB40s version of Elvis' "Fools Rush In"

  • @kristofferdub It sounds great! Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

  • I love these guys. You can just tell they love what they do and every show they play, they're having a blast. Plus I'm convinced Wayne Coyne has a spaceship.

  • wow!!! always!! great band, great song!! :)

  • i would love to see iron and wine do a cover of this

  • Esta es una de las canciones mas hermosas que haya escuchado.

    Feliz cumple hermanito querido.

  • @diamondjimlegend what a jerk

  • I didn't know that Rob Halford played bass for The Flaming Lips!!! O.o

  • 38 people didn't realize.

  • @Chegg180 One person couldn't think of anything original....

  • do you realize this is one of the best fucking bands ever to exist?

  • This song helps a lot to understand life and all of the events that happens to us. I love it.

  • 1 - Kliph's wearing a Super Furry Animals t-shirt?!?!?!? <3

2 - 2:36 Wayne's cheering Dave's sidekick, who also played in their She don't use jelly appearance? funny!

  • The only people I've found who hate this song tend to have a short attention span and think it's some sort of dark emo song right around the "everyone you know will die" part and then they turn it off. The first few lyrics are dismissed as being sappy because clearly the person listening is too bad ass to be affected by this.

  • @tylerao , No not off beat , yeah most of there songs are

i mean actually out of time with one another , its ok like , every musician has cocked up in the first bar or so , at some point in there carrer , even me lol

  • Sound like there struglerling to keep in time at the start , but then they all get used to it , still sounds epic , at least we know its real live music =)

  • @RotorHead2652

do you realize, that that is how the beginning of the song actually goes?

a lot of their stuff is quite off beat

  • What song is the house band playing at the beginning of this video?

  • Just discovered The Lips. In love. This song gives me chills.

  • Gotta love The Lips... Seeing them live is a religious experience.

  • I'm Indianapolis, where David Letterman is from and I still can't stand that guy. But The Flaming Lips rule, this song is so deep that it just makes me think about it all when I hear it. I realize and I appreciate it all

  • Comment removed

  • Rarely do you see someone who seems to love their craft so genuinely. Seeing Wayne and The Lips perform ALWAYS puts a smile on my face no matter what mood I'm in.

  • god dave letterman is a fucking tool, flaming lips rule though

  • 38 people are unrealized asshole

  • wow, that was really really cool

  • You can tell hes not used to this gig, he usually does amazing choriography on a big stage in front of a huge crowd where they respond to all the gestures hes makiing. Stage is too small to hold their epicness

  • yoshimi battles the big robots ?? seriously men ?? you need bigger glasses :P

  • @jcfx25 He said "pink" not "big"

  • This Song Is for all humans with a heart hard B******* need not apply :)

Go See Them Live It is a life changing experience .....i could not stop smiling for two days after :)

  • 38 people DO NOT REALIZE! (/cry)

  • @backtothesoil original

  • right around 2:30 or so there is a massive feedback bounce. lol

    wonderful band. go lips.

  • the flaming lips to be releasing one song per month. check it out (can't link right :/)

    casketlegs. com/2011/01/the-flaming-lips-to-release-one-song-per-month/

    +coachella rumors

  • Wayne Coyne is one of the most insightful and talented human beings to ever grace the earth with his presence. Im insanely jealous of his ability to write lyrics.

  • @deadsilense His honesty is like that of John Lennon. I hope we have Wayne for a long , long time.

  • The guitar has an airsynth in it. If you search you can see vids of the way it is used. Wayne isn't playing so much as getting getting cool sounds out it. He can bounce around the stage with the guitar versus it being stationary on a stand.

  • Why comment (ironic) it's so sell explan

  • "Do you realize everyone you know someday will die?" is the simplest, yet most profound lyric I've ever heard. Just a wonderful song by a really, really good band.

  • anybody know what kind of guitar the singer is playing

  • @thelibertinesrock

Not sure of the model, but I am 80-90% Certain it is a post-WWI Martin Twelve String acoustic with something like an LR Baggs Sunrise soundhole pick-up.

  • @guitar554 You're right, I don't think the acoustic guitar audio is from Wayne's guitar. It's just for show.

  • Yeah I don't find it great. Or I didn't, until I SAW THEM LIVE! AND WAH!

  • @MonsieurStoat I will have to see them live I guess :) cheers

  • I read somewhere that this was one of the best indie rock bands, and by the way they are nominated for a Grammy ? , I mean I respect them just for the fact that they have been playing for a long time. But honestly, the singer can't sing at all, I don't know what to think about the lyrics, I do like the mozart look and their style in general, but honestly they are completely overrated, now I am not writing this comment to offend anybody, just being really honest. Peace

  • @joe2804 You have obviously never seen them live. Go see them and then post your opinion.

  • @joe2804 You must think Bob Dylan is terrible.

The lyrics are profound "do you relise that everyone you know someday will die? and instead of saying all of your goodbyes let them know you realise that life goes fast its hard to make the good things last you realise the sun doesnt go down its just an illusion caused by the world spinning 'round."

If you cant appreciate that then you have never lost someone you cared about.

  • @7mattduser Idid lose someone, and never really paid attention until now,.

  • @7mattduser Shit is deep, son.

  • Comment removed

  • @joe2804 Don't worry. You're a hipster. Your opinion doesn't matter. Ever.

  • i like the version of The Reign of Kindo too, this songs inspire a lot of good things 2 me ...

  • yo love this song and im a 6 month old earwig named Willy

  • @fishstick0071 LOLZ

  • oh nice, mozart is playing with a band now?

  • If you haven't seen them live then you need to!!!!

  • yo i love this song and im a 20 year old black dude...

  • THIS is so so so damn good . Damn I love this. DId I say DAMN I LOVE THIS and the girl who firs sent it to me. THis is absolute perfection . . .

  • When the Lips are on form they can't be beat,,,,Awesome dude!!!!!

  • John Lennon called he wants his song "Mind Games" back.

  • @RebelThoughts People actually think because 2 songs have a few of the same notes in them that the one that came later is a rip off? Haha, oh wow. Not trying to be disrespectful towards your opinion but seriously, the songs are so different its not even funny. You can take almost any song you've ever listened to and find a song that came 30 years earlier that sounds similar. Be kind to yourself.

  • @Houstonskater why didnt you just call him a dumb fuck like a real troll would have?

  • @TheBeairdManCometh Because I'm not a troll

  • @RebelThoughts elvis called, he wants john lennon to shut the fuck up

  • @TheBeairdManCometh Elvis was a no-talent moron that was jealous of The Beatles. LOL @ Elvis. Dumb fuckin clown!

  • fuck yeah. my insides are spilling over and out.

  • Do you realize, this song is epic!! ;D

  • u2 called and want their song back.

  • @donniecrump umm.. are you trying to diss the song? Because this song is badass. And so is U2

  • @donniecrump blur called and want their song Vertigo back

  • @donniecrump U2 used to be decent but have been alarmingly terrible lately.

  • 37 dislikes... wow dark age for music...

  • i saw them in columbus last summer. wayne sang "you have the most beautiful face" and pointed right at ME. LOST MY FLIPPIN MIND!!! l love him.....

  • awesome album people

  • Where's Wayne's bubble guitar????

  • I love the Flaming lips, but Wayne is actually insane haha :D

  • @DanAndRos he's definitly a showman

  • Profound, brilliant and life-affirming. Amazing!

  • I remember when fuse was starting off this song would always play in there commercial for the channel

I love The Flaming Lips so much

  • I can't escape it , I freakin LOVE their drum sound. So huge !

  • did you see the singers guitar? He was only playing one chord the whole song and also there was a little black dome looking thing in the middle of his guitar. If im not mistaken, that would keep the strings from making noise. But anyways this band rocks. 5 stars, i mean thumbs up.

  • this song makes me sad that i know what its like to be in love, and have it be lost :( but i cant stop listeningg

  • @TWS327 i didn't take this song to be about actually "being in love"(like romantic love) so much as just loving your friends, family, and anyone close to you in general and being aware of how fleeting our time with them is, but i guess you could take it as a romantic thing too......

  • awesome!!

  • I just can't think in words enough to describe how happy this song makes me feel. Beautiful, beautiful song. Makes me smile and think of crying at the same time.

  • @lariceres this is exactly how i feel........ saw them out the weekend ...... stupidly good, emontional as hell x

  • @shellsuitable I can only imagine!!

  • wayne coyne es un pionero

  • 0:00 to 4:12 is epic

  • @bjfrollingstones yeah that last second sucks tho 4:13 ugh

  • @bjfrollingstones Indeed, I "realized" that too.

  • @bjfrollingstones because I haven't heard that before...

  • in a sense i agree w/dude a few downthey tend to play something magical, understand how u hear a hundred diff old school bands in ther music, so what, music is traded and wheeled/dealed all the time, if that didnt happen there wouldnt be music. people learn old jams/ covers to prepare to make their own foem of music. DO You Realize, that's whats makes flaming lips show so profound, and fuzzy inside. who cares about judging them. i judge them as A++ in my book. pick up a guitar and rock man!!

  • Spot of miming never did anyone's career any harm.

  • @jwindyboy You can barrow mine!

  • sounds like they have and orchestra....but they don't!!

  • Is it just me or is the frontman the spitting image of Colin Farrel...

  • at some angle wayne looks like robert downey jr

  • @arapsasuga i know!!

he reminds me of robert downey jr for some reason...
