I'm the same markanthonygo my last name actually starts with gogg... So everytime I spell my last name I have people spelling it back in this mans voice. We should start charging...
I grew up with this ad and my last name is Go. If I had a $1 for every time a "friend" randomly went up to me only to say "G-O-G-G-O" - I'd be a millionaire a hundred times over.
does anyone remember the yellow pages ad where the fire sprinkler starts dripping, and he uses the yellow pages books to stand up on and try and fix it, and he sets it off, and then his wife said ill call someone....wheres the yellow pages, and he looks down and he is standing on them.....
@DJBJ24 yeah i do, the lady in that ad is now on Neighbours, Stephs mum i forget her name right now dammit but yeah she was also on Prisoner many years ago!
Odd that fluids would be pouring out under the front of the car; Goggomobils were rear-engined. They wouldn't have oil in the crankcase either; they were 2-strokes.
@partition00 "The Dart" was a sportier kind of Goggomobil released only in Australia, it's a bit ridiculous looking. Obviously the person on the other end of the line presumed that was the kind of Goggo he was calling about.
@partition00 It's the Scottish accent that is mainly the novelty.Aussies liked to copy the bit of the ad where he goes "g...o...g...o" in a corny Scottish accent. Also the word 'gogomobile' is funny.Does that explain it?
There was a girl in my P.S class. Her name was Georgina, but people called her, 'GG'.
We were also taught basic sign language in P.S. (one of the teachers used to teach the deaf)...so being little turds, we would repetitively say, 'G O G G O' and sign it to 'GG', who absolutely hated it.
Yellow Pages have done some of the greatest Australian advertisements ever.
one of the best ads ever. My husband and I reckons its the best ad ever!!! we still spell goggo, and the kids think were mad!!! they don't make em like they used to
so the moral is Yellow Pages lets you find what you're looking for with a lot of effort and ringing around. GOOD JOB!

I heard an interview with the actor a few years ago - he says "I've broken Fritz" - he calls the car Fritz because it was made in Germany.

Telecom/Telstra certainly made same very impactful ads in the 90s, and the phrases of those ads made it into our lexicon.
e.g.
"GOGGO","That'll be the phone Reg","Not Happy Jan","We do Chucky, we do"
I'd like to know who their advertising company is.
