Patti went solo in 1977. I was about 15. In the spring of 1978 she opened up her first solo tour at the then Shubert Theater(now the Merriam) in Philly. Between then and 1992 I believe that I saw her perform live about 20 times. I just couldn't get enough. Great post!!
@jazjett I think her version was different from Patti's. I gotta search for her version. The writers behind this were the same ones who did "If Only You Knew" and "Shoot Him on Sight" for Patti.
well, Ive said before that Patti is one of the very few chicks from that chitlin circuit, that is even around.....She is definitely "THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS". I dont care where you go and who you go see, these days. There is no female out there doin it the way Patti did it back in the day. Granted, she is 20 plus years older than she was here. But even then, there was NO ONE that could go toe to toe and note for note, with this incredible vocalist. There will never be another....NEVER!.
This entire concert was genius...patti was at the top of her skill! The scatting in The Best Is Yet To Come was brilliantly executed, specially when she snapped and entered "the zone". Isn't It A Shame...this performance was, yet again, GENIUS...pure and simple! Speechless after watching these performances! SPEECHLESS! She must've left her ass on that stage 'cause she frickin' sang her ass off!!
Thank for posting! Can't wait for the whole concert! Eternally grateful I am to thee!
At 5:17 that was pure opera!

Thank you posting, I do believe that Minnie came out with "The Best is yet to come" before anyone else.

@jazjett Never mind, I don't think Minnie did this song. Patti definitely was the originator (along with Grover Washington, Jr.)

if you've never noticed, i love the way she infuses those jazz touches into her live interpretations.

When she mimics this squeaky singing, she sounds a bit as if she got a helium overdose lol
