  • the hold out was the apple logo then Micheal jackson died and the beatles company was for sale

  • I thought it was the legal issue over the Apple logo?

  • You remind me of Jesse Eisenberg with a southern accent.

  • FLAC rips of vinyls. Sup.

  • Vinyl > CD > iTunes

  • Do you seriously think Apple is not selling advertising space on iTunes? They most definitely do.

  • I LOVE THE BEATLES!!!

  • as soon as you said that apple could charge $100,000 a day to advertise on iTunes but luckily they reserve that space to advertise music, i had a thought. apple products are the best however there prices are the highest. i think they should bring the price down if not by loads but by some. why dont they advertise on itunes for a charge and then subsidise the price of macbooks, imacs ipads etc. so that those who are less fortunate can also buy an apple computer. what are your thoughts?

  • HYRPABOWL

  • Screw Kid Rock or ACDC, I'll just pirate it if it is not on iTunes. If they can't adapt, then they don't deserve anymore money. Welcome to the year 2010 ACDC/Kid Rock.

  • Keystone Light? Are you serious?

  • Films and bands pay for ads on Itunes wow you know loads :)

  • "Tomorrow's just another day, you'll never forget" is a reference to the Paul McCartney song 'Another Day' :).

  • There were no negotiations with the Beatles at all. They negotiated with the owner of the Beatles music, which incidently is the Michael Jackson estate.

  • You want a great Beatles release? How about the entire Beatles catalog, on high-quality, heavy vinyl, with original album packaging, and all the extras that were sold with Sgt. Pepper's... Downloaded music sucks, in general. It's overly-processed, compressed, and so far from the originals it's a rip-off. Vinyl is where is always has been.

  • The Beatles are over rated and the itunes store sucks.

  • and another thing, just use flac if your after quality. aac/mp3/m4a sucks balls big time dude. and if you pay for it i pity you.

  • hey I know you, aren't you that guy everyone hates?

  • Sorry man but you are so biased.

  • It was a day we would never forget. Think about how mad some people got.... They'll most likely never forget...

  • I'd rather save $20 and rip the higher quality CDs. Then you can just store it under your bed and it still has great re-sale value.

  • @drummerkid1993 >CDs

    >Resale Value

    Pick one

  • can we have a link to your wallpaper

  • 1:08 I would bet that you have never paid attention to anything of significance.

  • it had to do with the apple record company and the apple macintosh company having copyright issues.

  • itunes sucks...the beatles have been on amazon mp3 download, zune, etc. for ages...like forever

  • I totally agree with you Eric mate and I must admit I have been guilty of this as well. When Apple make an announcement the media and us bloggers go completely mad in terms of expectation and it is wrong. Because of this there is alway a back lash of expectation people saying Apple never delivered, but like you say Apple never promise anything, it is us who build up the hype not Apple. Excellent video mate.

  • buying music is cool again!

  • I have stopped buying a lot of my music from iTunes, as a musician, I am sick of paying Apple for "poor" (it's not piss poor obviously, but CD is better) quality audio. All of my classical music is now bought at a CD store, though, I still buy everything else from iTunes. Not dissing iTunes in any way, I only use Apple products.

  • @banihex itunes plus , much better than the old 128kbps mp3s..

  • @kenspocket It still isn't anywhere near a CD which is around 1400kbps, and it is quite noticeable between the music downloaded from a distributor and a CD if you have half decent equipment. That is what he is saying.

  • @frostyfireman itunes now uses 256kbps aac, that is better than the old 128k mp3s, infact a 128kbps aac is better than a 160kbps mp3, aac is a better open source format there is no drm on them now also. this was not apple fault in the first place having drm on the old mp3 a few years back. a 256kbps aac is similar2 a 320constant bit rate mp3,also u cant compare bit rates the same, the output of AAC is decompressed and then streamed to its audio rate as is DTS, u can use 48khz to better cd sound.

  • @kenspocket It's quite debatable the quality difference between MP3, AAC and WMA if your encoder uses a good algorithm like LAME. Even then, they are lossy formats so they loose some fidelity for the sake of being nice and small. Like I said; if you just listen to music on your ipod you will be fine because the device is your quality bottleneck not the media, but if you have some form of Hi-Fi system the difference is quite audible.

  • @frostyfireman there is no real difference , I would even say 320AAC @ 48khz is better than CD 44.1khz . I have a hifi setup . All formats sound a little different , dolby 5.1 vs DTS for instance both of those formats are also compressed , as does vinyl and tape , there is compression on tape , and record desk have coils pickup and needles and arms . all sound differently..

  • @kenspocket You won't be able to tell the difference between 44.1khz sample rate and 48khz sample rate, the higher sample rate means it can encode higher frequencies, which doesn't matter since the human ear can only hear about 20khz max and CDs already exceed that. I personally can pick up about 18.5khz max.

Vinyl and Cassette tape are analog, compression not possible and has unlimited definition in the sound.

  • @frostyfireman , dude , there is a hi end difference esp with the treble end .16bit 48khz DAT is far better than the CD 16bit 44.1khz . with a good speaker set up and amp ,side by side you can hear it on most music of sound track ,same goes4 old standard Dolby Digital vs DTS, DTS is better as the bit rate is higher and more channels DD is still good although .all pro audio rigs audio gear use 48khz or 96khz for recording going back 20years for 48khz. . then we dither down to 16bit 44.1 for CD

  • @frostyfireman also all analog tape is compressed audio . The tape itself and the systems employed such as Dolby A B C NR and DBX , are are compression systems . The way you record to tape also compresses more , although the sound can be nice , tape distortions sound warmer , you can drive a tape recording level , you cant drive a digital recording level over 0db .

  • It was frontpage news on apple.com

So Apple made it BIG news but it was not BIG news at all. ;)

  • @vitaminechamp it is big news . CD is dead . although it wasn't stated. that where this is going...

  • wow thats a great reason. if its not on itunes i aint buying it. buddy i have bough countless deluxe edition CDs. itunes LP is crap. i bought the John Lennon Remaster Power to the people. itunes LP is meh... nothing special. i have cds signed and it costed me 14buck. i think cds will become dead but they present something like vinyls did, they are special. you get a better feeling from them how having the cd. can you get an mp3 signed? i dont think so.

  • @ igeekone

    - Yeah, that would be cool. They sell 1GB+ movies, no one will care about a 20-40MB ALAC file.

    @ brawnr

    - lol, you say that like it's news. They always have and always will. Hollywood and the MPAA are even more despicable and greedy. I can't wait for the day sometimes both those industries shut down OOPS lol.

    @ djAMPxp18

    - I doubt he'll really get in trouble, but who knows. They probably scoff if anyone see's this. But as stupid and paranoid as America is becoming.....

  • I actually thought they were announcing iOS 4.2 for some reason

  • I thought it was stupid how people thought Apple was going to introduce a new feature or update of iTunes when Apple just updated it and brought new features not even two months ago.

  • @ReneAlanisJr

how is it stupid when apple made such a big deal of it? "change the world" thats setting the bar pretty high

  • @nick45644564 Well it is a big deal considering millions of The Beatles albums were sold on iTunes after the announcement.

  • @ReneAlanisJr

what a fanboy, first you say it wasnt a big deal then you go right back on your words

  • @nick45644564 Read my first comment again. I never said it wasn't a big deal.

  • well steve jobs is a big beetles fan so im guessing that is ware this is coming from.

  • i think you should post a link to the wallpaper your using in every video

  • @Williamdta I agree!!

  • @PepitoIngles Any chance you found a link to it btw?

  • @PepitoIngles theres a link to it in the descrition called posterous.its not HD though

  • its true ....Apple is a victim of its own success....anyway i dun care abt the Beatles...

  • CD's are not now the equivalent of vinyl... Tapes and CD's improved on the records quality.. Mp3's DO NOT improve on quality from their CD counterparts.. CD is almost always the highest quality release of any album by any artist.

  • @Spliffer45 vinyl FTW!!!

  • @gundambob646 hah, to each his own.. Im new school, flac rip's FTW! :P

  • @Spliffer45 hahaha i know what you mean. i am a mixture of both, just prefer vinyl. i got flac rips and .wavs. i just dont like this whole idea about digital this. so fast.

  • @gundambob646 definitely:) .

  • It had nothing really to do with EMI and everything to do with a trademark dispute between the Beetles founding holding company, Apple Corps, and Apple Computers (now Apple Inc.)

  • WTF!! you video didn't come in my sub box again!! Piff stupid youtube!!

  • The other dumb thing about the singles excuse is that you can make all your songs "alumb only" some songs on iTunes you HAVE to buy the entire alumb to get that song you want.

  • "Fuck you, I'll pirate your shit first"... Did he just say that on a public you tube Channel?

Enjoy getting butt raped by the RIAA!

But in all seriousness some people still prefer solid media. It gives the sense of ownership that a MP3 can't provide. Your also forgetting that you need to back up your digital copy, which cancels out the step of ripping it off a CD.

  • As good as iTunes is, its problem is the high price. A lot of times I can buy the physical CD for less than the download price. The music companies are saving on the cost of manufacture and distribution - the digital download should be half the price of the CD. The music industry is ripping us off!

  • iTunes is ok, it's needed to put songs on an ipod, but other than that it's pretty much useless, I don't know why any idiot would buy music, movies or tv shows. It's called torrents and there the same quality and free, then you just convert anything you torrent to Itunes.

  • You never seem to bore me :)

  • @Applesoldier

You should make some more tutorials. Please

  • It bugs me you can't download this in lossless.

  • Seriously Eric, iTunes isn't perfect there are a lot of flaws for an example. I am a Heavy Metal Fan and one of my favorite record label is Razorback Records. It is a Indie Label, If only iTunes would also offer Indie labels then only I will be a iTunes Fanboy.

  • not a beatles fan they where before my time not a very exciting anouncement in my opinion.

  • FINALLY I CAN GET THE BEETLES ARTWORK !!!! YAY FUCK 1$ FOR SONGS ME GOT ALBUMS

  • You say Windows desktop is more cluttered?? HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO FIND ANYTHING ON THAT STUPID LONG ASS BAR WITH THIRTY ICONS THAT ARE 1CM BIG?!?!

  • The reason for the headline "tomorrow is just another day we won't forget" was used because apparently it's part of a beetles song (not sure myself as I'm not a fan but I read that somewhere)

  • this should have happened 7 years ago. Now People have already bought the albums and ripped them into iTunes.

  • CDs are yesterdays format , well said..

  • If it's available on iTunes, then count on it available on Napster (by BestBuy), Zune, and Amazon. Congrats for the Beatles. Although, most generations have Beatles song in some medium - typically CD. My dad still preserves his original Beatles LP records. I love AC/DC but I am mad they are so stubborn at digital downloads.

  • 3:57 Of course it's personal milestone for JOBS; however, the rest of us have moved on. This woulda been big in 2003 when the issue was still fresh. These days The Beatles have already been ripped from CDs digitally years ago during the iTunes 4 days, or torrented like hell.

6:22 iTunes is proprietary. When Apple dies, it dies with it.

  • long time no vid, what up Eric?

  • Awesome video :)

  • Good video, Eric. Nice to have you back!

  • But I like fuck you microsoft videos, emeek.

  • Luther Vandross FTW

  • Can you make a video on windows phone 7?

  • People don't understand. This has been a 30 year legal battle between Steve and the record labels. It's a huge milestone for Steve more than anything. Please stop being dumb!

  • Good to see you man. Nice vid!

  • hi man i have a problem

i dont have ur vid in my sub box what do i do?

cause i hate when that heppens i dont have soldierknowsbest video since like 3 months :/

  • @luis61961944 its youtubes fault, nothing can be done that i know of. I havent been gfetting soldiers or jon4lakers

  • @AppleSoldier oh that sucks :/

ty for the reply and nice vid keep them coming (:

  • @AppleSoldier its clear u wanna suck steve jobs cock u agree with whatever apple does or say. whip the shit off ur cheek. p.s steve jobs dnt like u...awwww does break ur heart huh make u u wanna cry huh faggot... bill gates is # 1

  • @luis61961944 Happens with everyone's too. Best bet is to regularly check your subscription page (the one where you can pick which sub you want to check) then quickly check each one.

  • @luis61961944 Just subscribe via RSS from his homepage, YT does stuff up sometimes.

  • @luis61961944 same problem, thought he'd quit or something

  • @AppleSoldier Hey I'm getting a macbook unibody in 4 days let's see how the "switch" goes.

  • I think Apple never will have a subscription service. But I think in the future with their cloud server, lala and stuff that's going on that you will be allowed to stream the iTunes content we bought from our account anywhere where you have Internet.

  • You don't have to be a beatles fan to feel the impact they left on pop culture then, now and forever.

  • When a 980X will be fully utilized, they'll have 2,3 maybe 4 generations passed that and have native 16 or 18 core with 32/36 threads and then you'll still have to play catch up. But they have to advertise and make you think you need it otherwise they wasted all that time making barely any change that they sell as something AMAZING lol.

  • Of course it still screams. Core2Quads and some Core2Duo's are still very good capable processors. It's all marketing from the companies making you think you NEED an i7 or i5. Which I bet 8 of every 10 computer users in fact do NOT lol. They just don't want to be patient and do any real revolutionary work so they do incremental changes and charge like it's some new huge big thing. Plus look at the speed at which software to utilize that hardware advances.... no real NEED for a 980X.

  • One sad thing is.... the Record and Movie Industries didn't want change when the Digital Age first came upon us. They liked Analog more, and look what happened by not embracing Digital as they should have. PIRACY skyrocketed. They either are ignorant and too stupid to see or don't care and their own greed and sins will destroy their industries.

  • I Don't like the beattles and not interested in any way shape or form. A big announcment would be if iTunes said 1 day only 50% Off any song. That would be something i would never forget. I have no problem buying at regular price as money is not an issue here but The whole world does not love the beattles. I did an online poll and out of 9,529 people only 6 people would buy the beattles on itunes.

I'm not dissapointed or have any feelings towards apple's "BIG" announcement. Sorry apple I love

  • Haha, I kind of laughed when you said not many 15 year old kids would buy actual Beatles CDs, because I'm 15 and the Beatles are my favorite band ever, I have almost half of their albums on physical copies, and even with them on iTunes now, I will still continue to get physical copies. It's just a personal preference of mine, I don't feel as comfortable only having it on a device or computer, and I'm okay with the hassle of having to go out and get it.

    Great vid man.

  • wow thats some nice background.. where did u get it

  • "If you're not on iTunes, I won't buy your music. I don't care how much I love the artist". That's just messed up man, chill out. We won't murder you if you stop being such a fucking fan boy for only a day.

  • peoples fuckin crazy!

  • I admit I was somewhat disappointed, not upset but I was just thinking a little bigger. Now I love the beatles and I already have most of their songs on my computer that I ripped from cds. But you changed my mind a little bit soldier, I can see how this is a big deal. Most people disappointed with this I imagine are younger and not so familiar with the beatles perhaps

  • @Zombiebrainstew Yes, I admit I too was a tad disappointed (not much as I was preoccupied with a Logic project) and on listening to what Eric had to say it does make sense. But I think it's understandable that many Apple fans were expecting a tech announcement on Apples homepage, and may not have regarded the Beatles announcement in the same way at first. I agree it does make sense now.

  • One thing I like about Digital downloads such as iTunes. So many times I spend 10-20 on a CD for 1,2 or 3 songs. And wasted money each purchase essentially. I know for some now and then certain songs you can only get with the whole Album but for 90-95% of the instances, you can buy any song individually so I actually save money if I only want 1 or 2 songs from an album. Sure CD's had singles now and then but oddly most of the songs I wanted never were made and sold as singles lol.

  • Personally, I don't get why the Beatles had to be such a HUGE thing lol.

I only like... Let me put it this way. The songs of theirs I like I can count on both my hands lol.

I'm not trying to down anyone. I know lots LOVED them, but I just never got into them that big lol. Some of their songs were amazing though.

So for the Beatles enthusiasts and lovers, I think this can be a BIG thing.

  • I love the wording here. Digital Music vs CD's. Uh... the stuff on optical discs IS digital.

Not dissing anyone or you, Eric. No reason to dog you. I'm just saying it's funny the industry considers iTunes "digital" and CD's as different. Same with Hollywood's "digital copy" on DVD and Blu-rays.

The data on the DVD IS digital lol. I never understood the wording and advertising behind that.

  • @KeibearsProperty very true

  • @AppleSoldier It's kind of like shipping and cargo. Shipping is on land, and CARgo is on the sea :)

  • @AppleSoldier

Hey you should do android vs IOS I never saw a review of android vs IOS by an appletard, applefanboy and apple biased dude do android vs IOS.

  • @AppleSoldier Hey AppleSoldier wheres your ownage videos. I wanna have it like it was in the old days ! You and AdobePC....thats how this whole thing started. You guys are what got me into the OWNAGE game. Come on Lets do it! OWN ME OR ADOBEPC or something ..come on check out AdobePC channel see whats been going in ...come on GET your head back in the game!! Apple NEED YOU.

  • @KeibearsProperty It's more along the lines of a CD/DVD is a physical version. Something you can carry around literally. Where as the "digital copy" is something that isn't physical in the sense of the product. If you get me?

  • @Trusselz

Yeah.. that makes sense. I get that logic. Just the wording they use is kinda funny. When I first heard it I did a double take like.. but DVD's are digital video.

  • @Trusselz

Still you will be able to burn it on a CD..

  • @KeibearsProperty kind pointless to nitpick since its just a term used to contrast two medias .. its not a digital/analog issue its a physical / digital (yes"fully" digital) music issue

  • @nabiawada

I know it's just a geek rant. Grandma won't think oh the data on my DVD is digital, then what's this digital media they're selling me on iTunes lol.

    ;)

  • @KeibearsProperty

The delivery is digital, not the content.

  • @KeibearsProperty

They are saying the delivery is digital, not the actual songs.

  • @KeibearsProperty - It's all about the quality, bro. CD = 1.4 Mbps Vs. iTunes Plus = AAC 256 Kbps. DVD = 480i + Compressed data Vs. Blu-ray = 1080p Vs. Digital Copy = Compressed data + Copyrights. THE WINNERS > Blu-ray and CD

  • @GranKnight87 itunes now uses 256kbps aac, that is better than the old 128k mp3s, infact a 128kbps aac is better than a 160kbps mp3, aac is a better open source format ther is no drm on them now also. this was not apple fault in the first place having drm on the old mp3 a few years back. a 256kbps aac is similar2 a 320constant bit rate mp3,also u cant compare bit rates the same, the output of AAC is decompressed + then streamed to its audio rate as is DTS, u can use 48khz to better cd sound.

  • @kenspocket I know, I love AAC, I ripped all my CDs to AAC 256 kbps (VBR). But its not compatible with a lot of divices. That's why I rip all my CDs to Linear PCM (wav.) first.

  • @GranKnight87 support is growing , sony apple and a few others all use AAC , but yes mp3 does work on more devices , I also use AIFF , basically the same as WAV but closer to PCM CD audio . in fact without the tags it is PCM audio . We all use formats as we need them , and AAC is best to deliver online audio . Flac also maybe .. AAC is growing in use .:) when encoding AAC just untick variable and it will be even better as it will then be constant bit rate sample rate 44.1 or 48khz 16bit.

  • @KeibearsProperty I agree, The Proper discussion should be about codecs. Appledouche I mean Applesoldier LOL, Makes Mac users look bad. I can't take him seriously first he wheres two headphones in his last video and now this a keystone hat & he likes kid Rock who dang! Can someone say redneck LOL!

  • I'm pretty sure that if a fan of the Beatles wanted their music, they would've had it on analog media already. Otherwise they're not a true fan of the Beatles (who I think do not deserve the credit they have). The only reason this is gaining publicity is that iTunes is the only online service (now) that has The Beatles in their digital catalog.

  • No 15 year old kid is going to buy a fricken beatles album on itunes or anywhere lol

  • @nialld5 clueless much?

  • @nialld5 A lot of kids would. You'd be surprised. But don't think of the kids. What about the 50 year old that are still skeptical of this digital era? When they see The Beatles in iTunes, what will they think? They will want to get involved a little more. Take the time go use iTunes, get an iPod, and listen to them on the go. From your view it may not be much, but from Apples, it's something that can sell a lot of products and make a lot of people happy in the process.

  • @cpukid00 right on!

  • @nialld5 im 15 yrs and i bought some albums :)

  • @geniousmac Good for you man.

  • It's hard to resist predicting crazy things with such big revenue from apple, the new massive computer base being built and a lot of subtle rumours from apple..
