@GtaMasterChris No they don't have to, it all depends on the way you play the game. If you do 100% completion and make the right choices at the end, no one will die. You don't have to have 100% completion, you might as well though.

Second Playthrough- Tali died after the vents

Third Playthrough- Mordin died...because.

@Kylelolcat Last one's because your collective team strength at the door wasn't enough - leave behind two of the following: Garrus, Grunt, Zaeed. Have Mordin escort the crew, as long as he's loyal he'll get back safely.

The first two things might be glitches, assuming you had loyal characters and picked a squad leader out of Miranda\Jacob\Garrus.

@The3Ryans It depends on your squadmates' loyalty, as well as if you pick the right people for the job. Say, for the vents, you need a tech specialist, and preferably one that's loyal. If you have Jack do it, she's going to die since she's not a 'tech expert'. Things like that.

To allow Zaeed to die, but everyone else to live, during the suicide mission, do either of the following:

1. Pick Zaeed as the fire team leader the second time you're asked to pick one (it doesn't matter whether he's loyal or not, he'll still get shot in the stomach and die from it).

2. Don't earn Zaeed's loyalty, and then take him with you into the final battle against the Human Reaper. He'll die from the fall when the boss collapses the platform out from under you.

@pazZzurro I don't know. I once lost Mordin in the last part, just because I didn't sent him to escort the crew, so I guess it's pretty random, but bad choices and no loyalty missions increase their chances to die. Let alone the ship upgrades. One has to be a N00b not to research them.

@mikiroony Mordin is the most fragile squadmate if you dont take him with you to fight the Reaper or escort crew he's dead. Of course he has to be loyal always. Other way is to have everyone for the last mission and have them all loyal. Then when it comes to defend the door leave at least one of these guys: Grunt, Zaeed or Garrus with the defending team. He should alwys make it - worked for me. This works only if everyone defending the door is loyal.

This death gives me the chills.

Dunno why, but getting stung by anything as a wasp is not a plesant expirience in my life, but getting stung over and over again, without nothing you can do and then getting carried away by a massive swarm to be eaten/liquified or something horrible is truly a nightmare.

Hell luckly i keeped my team loyal at all the point, but if this happened to anyone, in my team, id have sleepless nights, and wonder what happened to them while i destroyed the base.
