Although I am a Republican I think Bayh would be a smart pick for Obama. I live in indiana and Bayh has been an effective Senator for us, he was also an effective Governor as well. I think Bayh on the ticket would make a lot of moderate and even conservative voters feel more comfortable with an Obama Presidency.
Obama, where are your plans to tackle and end HUMAN TRAFFICKING? So in ur and the world leaders eyes, banning smoking in public places, preserving the existence of some flower species and other pathetic things are more important than the thousands of young women forced to become sex slaves?
U people allow human trafficking to flourish cos it boosts your economy. Absolutely DISGUSTING!
You leaders of rich nations are subhuman and have reached a high in DECADENCE.
Strongcat, I agree with you about human trafficking and the failure of world leaders to do anything about it, but don't be so quick to rope Obama into that number... he has more international experience and is more a citizen of the world than any president to date or any candidate this year, and he's running in a country that prefers to look away than make changes.
Leaders of developed nations have found it easier to tell their citizens what they want to hear than to tell them what is right.
i like him to, but if people think he has a temper whether he does or not thats what the media will be talking about when he picks him, and u don't want negative press when you pick a vp
I posted a comment two days ago stating my views on this subject. It did not agree with most of the current postings. Is this why my comments were not posted? Are they being screened?
They're probably going to pick Bayh because he's a safe choice. The last thing Obama wants is scandal. Bayh was a big Clinton supporter, he can win Indiana, and he's articulate and uninteresting. Exactly the qualifications necessary for the job.
The word among the chattering MSM is that Barack is close to a decision on who his VP is going to be. My guess- its Evan Bayh and here's why? Evan Bayh is the only potential VP with a public announcement address on the Obama site.
The chattering class in the MSM is guessing Obama is close to a decision on the VP. I think Obama is going to chose Evan Bayh--Here's why? Bayh is only potential VP with a public announcement address on the obama site.
Good point, although Siebelius is up with her endorsment video from February.
Bayh makes a lot of sense, and he is growing on me. He is a moderate Democrat and a former Clinton supporter who should help with the executive expierence as former governor and his time on the foreign relations committee should help, too. Add to the fact that he should bring along Indiana's 11 electoral votes, and this makes a lot of sense.
Evan is a good guy. Just because Hillary was going to pick him for VP, doesn't mean Barack should. I think he needs to pick a General to give him stature with the Military Complex and edge off McCain, who is NOT a General who called the shots !!!! Go Barack !!!!
I'm concerned about losing that Senate seat. Isn't the governor of Indiana a Republican? Can we honestly expect him to pick a viable Democrat to replace him in the Senate?
The Indiana governor is up for election this November. If he loses to the Democrat in the race, and Bayh is elected VP, then Bayh would delay his resignation until after the new governor takes office.
It should be worth noting that the Democrats are expected to pick up at least four seats (VA, NM, NH, and CO) with good pick-up opprotunites in AK, OR, and possibly MN with the only possible loss being in LA. The one extra seat shouldn't make that much difference.
If he is interested in getting us out of Iraq in a responsible way, why would he announce his plan before he has been over there? Is it because that word was the most important he could have thrown out in the Primaries? And it figures the Senate does not realize how the government works, cause if they did, they would realize how much bipartisan ship has destroyed this country... If you want change, the Democrats and Republicans are not the place to look, quite frankly, they did this.
No, he won't be VP unless Barack is completely insane. The VP will either be Hillary or somebody who opposed the war(or apologizes for voting for the war). That means Edwards, Sebelius, Schweitzer, Jim Webb, etc.
He is not a bad choice, but Obama's best choice for VP is Joe Biden. On second place would be Hillary Clinton, and I put Bayh on third place along with Richardson, Webb, Sebelius, Clark and Tim Kaine. Wow, Democrats should be proud, lots of great candidates for everything.
I completely agree with your Biden selection. Hopefull the Democrats will look past what the VP selection can provide in home state electoral votes (aka old politics) and see how much credibility he could add to the ticket with regards to foreign policy experience--experience in general. He is up front and honest enough to fit into the "new politics" Obama will bring to our country. Obama/Biden 08!!!!
Bayh as VP? Ugh! Not only did he vote for the war, he co-chaired the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq -- a pro-war neocon group formed by the guy who is now McCain's senior foreign policy advisor. McCain himself was a member. Obama has better choices for VP than Bayh.
True Bayh is practically a second coming of Bill Clinton. I have no doubt that if he was given the fair chance, Bayh would definitely win a Presidential election in 2008. This is coming from a Republican too
That's half of the Rove plan. Prevent Congress from getting anything done through vetos, signing statements, and underfunding. Then when election rolls around, the GOP can say, "Look! They didn't do anything!"
Our country has been hijacked for 8 years and has been exploited for private gains.
I agree...there are still too many Republicans in there that block aything decent from coming out and who walk and support the Bush line. Thanks for pointing out this major shortcoming though. :)
It has a better ring than Obama-Clinton, Obama-Biden, and certainly better than Obama-Sebelius. Since O-ba-ma is already 3 syllables, there needs to be a one-syllable VP, and it probably won't be clark.
I'm not familiar with the guidelines that dictate the financing of a presidential campaign. Are Canadians eligible to donate to the Obama Campaign? If so, do I send my cheque to the Obama for America office in Illinois? Aside from financial assistance, is there any other way I can help the campaign from Canada? I don't have a lot of free time on my hands, but perhaps there is still something I can do to help.
How about making an arrangement with an American friend? Know any expats living up there? There is an entry field for Americans living abroad to donate at the Obama web site.
Not the most exciting speaker but he's a hell of a lot easier on the ears than Al Gore, Dick Gephardt, Kerry, Jack Reed, Sebelius, Hillary, Dodd, and a dozen others mentioned.
I'm through with Bayh. Change. because that's all we'll have left in our pockets when Obama's throught with us.....
