Although I am a Republican I think Bayh would be a smart pick for Obama. I live in indiana and Bayh has been an effective Senator for us, he was also an effective Governor as well. I think Bayh on the ticket would make a lot of moderate and even conservative voters feel more comfortable with an Obama Presidency.

Strongcat, I agree with you about human trafficking and the failure of world leaders to do anything about it, but don't be so quick to rope Obama into that number... he has more international experience and is more a citizen of the world than any president to date or any candidate this year, and he's running in a country that prefers to look away than make changes.

Leaders of developed nations have found it easier to tell their citizens what they want to hear than to tell them what is right.

Bayh makes a lot of sense, and he is growing on me. He is a moderate Democrat and a former Clinton supporter who should help with the executive expierence as former governor and his time on the foreign relations committee should help, too. Add to the fact that he should bring along Indiana's 11 electoral votes, and this makes a lot of sense.

The Indiana governor is up for election this November. If he loses to the Democrat in the race, and Bayh is elected VP, then Bayh would delay his resignation until after the new governor takes office.

It should be worth noting that the Democrats are expected to pick up at least four seats (VA, NM, NH, and CO) with good pick-up opprotunites in AK, OR, and possibly MN with the only possible loss being in LA. The one extra seat shouldn't make that much difference.

Is it because that word was the most important he could have thrown out in the Primaries?
