I played in a band for many many years and this was one of my favorite songs to sing. I love the lyrics. Boy howdt today's fakecountry doesn't have a clue.
who really cares how many times Taylor Swift rewrites the same boyfriend broke my heart song. . Sorry I'm just not a fan of the big hair glamorous girls who pass for "country" today. Sad part is that nobody notices they don't have much talent.
This is written by Billy Joe Shaver and is the title track of BJ's best known record. BJS wrote lots for Waylon & Willie and you'll hear them mention him if you're familiar with their work. And yep, they shore don't make music like this anymore. Although Whitey Morgan & the 78's are carrying on the sound and Shooter has it cornered in spite of what his critics say.
FINALLY! REAL, HONEST TO GOD COUNTRY! you forget how great this stuff is after listening to too much countrypop! let's all pray for some old souls like Waylon to rise up and save Country from becoming Britany and Xtina! can i get an Amen!
this song is without a doubt for people that live in like utah, montana and all those western states..im from new york but i'm interested in these kind of songs as well..if i was the mayor i'd have speakers in the city playing this type hahahaha
I can remember subway travelling all over New York City for (if I remember it correctly) a Nickel - and, a few years later (and that is for sure), for a Dime. To do this, You had to stay within the network without passing any exit gate - these occasions occurred during the 50's - I wish to time travel back to those times (please help me, Isaac Asimov - if You have the opportunity to do so from where You are at the moment)!
an old five and dimer is someone who has never had much in life. Someone without much money. It refers to the old five and dime stores (now a days called dollar store) where people without a lot of money can go and find good deals.
Thank you. This is my favorite version of my favorite song ever. If you don't love and understand this song you're probably a pussy who has had everything handed to you in life.
this was one of my favorite albums when i was a kid growing up.. Billy Joe is my cousing on my dad's side and only a few years ago did i realize that people actually think he's a "legend".. i want to thank all of you for your good words about him..
waylon dida wole album of Billy Joe Shaver songs. Called "Honky Tonk Heroes" still can be bought on CD but costly. be more so when the other legend who wrote thesongs passes on.
