Found the NTSB report it was her plane she bought it and tried to fly it she was non certified pilot and it was unregistered. The county charged with criminal mischief and reckless conduct.
So it looks as if the aircraft can only fit one person and someone who owned the ultralight was letting others fly it. I'm assuming after some sort of ground training maybe he explained it to her how to fly it thinking it was easy. Most of these aircraft if you you just throttle back they will just float back down and land I don't think it stalled just had no place to land otherwise if she stalled at 100 feet up it would have been a fatality probably landed then ran into that house.
This woman is not in cause: she dont' realy known what she doing (usband say it: "it's easy to fly no problem" or not?...) , but theyr usband was a realy idiot to let she flying alone without training...
Poor thing...glad she is ok. I like her sense of adventure but hope she learns from this mishap. Please dear, get well and don't give up. Get instruction and keep going up...
Unfortunately you could see she was constantly stalling the aircraft...pulling up too hard. Ultra lights are basically slightly reinforced gliders with small engines. They have low climb rates and poor performance in turbulent conditions. I'm glad she's ok though.
@Velotracer low climb rates? You obviously know very little about ultralights. Is 1000 fpm a low climb rate? I really don't think so unless you are comparing it to a citation jet or something.
@genogeno1234 ... Exaclty.! compared to other planes, ultra lights have a low climb rate. It's primarily because of the weight limit of 254lbs. They just cant have an ultra powerful, and therefor heavier, engine.
@Velotracer So a Cessna 172, one of the most popular airplanes built in the last century with a climb rate of 700 fpm would be considered what? Really really low climb rate? Noob, stick with what you know best. I have been flying ultralights and light planes for over 20 years. One the best features of ultralights is their impressive climb rates.
What was the cause of the crash? Was there a mechanical failure. The engine did not sound good before she took off. Did she have the carb heaters on? She must have had lessons in the plane before trying a solo. Its sad.
Now THIS is what i call a braindead inbred family: DAD lets wife fly the plane with simple instruction 'pull - plane go up; push - plane go down....left - plane go left; right - plane go right). SON yells instructions at mom using the air as a medium (no radio) - SURE! mom can hear you loud and clear, son, you are WAYYY louder than the propeller. and WIFE/MOM: seriously what are you doing outside the kitchen? :)
keep it even!!! no!!!! no!!!! I thought I said even!!!! Didn't I say even?!?! at least I can cook a hotdog on the fire.... I only wish she was still alive to do it for me... damn we are stupid for letting her fly. Guess i'll just need to find a new wife to make a sandwich for me.
The woman was an experienced pilot, but the experience had been long ago. It was her first time in this aircraft. Statements like 'She had zero flying experience' are simply incorrect.
@BusterKoala The phrase "time in type" is pertinent as if you have 2000 hrs in single engine tricycle landing gear and not tail dragger you don't just jump into tail dragger but you get type certified by a qualified instructor and then signed off to operater tail dragger, there is also requirement to have current experience every 90 days or get recertified. I can't believe that she wasn't given "dual" time in a aircraft of this type but just allowed to hop in and "crash".
Put that dumb bitch back in the kitchen or back on her knees but get her the hell out of the cockpit. You should be kicked in the balls 1000 times for letting your dumb bitch fly the plane !
I am a pilot with 70 hours in a himax. It is a very good airplane. I was talking to John the company owner and I believe that this was the accident he told me about where a camera fell to the floor then somehow made it's way to the control yoke under the seat that the stick torque tube attaches to where it caused a lockout of the ailerons. It's a good easy to build airframe.. accidents happen in any aircraft and i'm sorry to see it. I call BS on her not having been trained to fly.
@buzzy1147 No that wasn't the case in this crash. She somehow got her shoes caught in the rudder pedal and concentrated on freeing herself rather than climbing.
I ride a motorcycle and in my state (PA) I don't even have to wear a helmet but if you own a car you MUST wear a seat belt. In my country (USA) if you fly with a passenger in an ultralight you need to have a minimum of a Sports Pilots license but if you fly by yourself, you can buy one on e-bay and fly legally with out any training or common sense. Some rules are just stupid. Personally I don't care about the mother. I'm more concerned about the people she could have killed on the ground.
What moron allowed this woman to take to the air? And did they not have a radio?? She was obviously not prepared for this. My first solo was perhaps the best flight I ever made. I was completely at ease having the instructor unass the a/c and let me do my thing. This woman...just damn. Stay in the kitchen!

@mostly4moderate Thanks for your totally uneducated opinion...I know you are a piss poor instructor for making that unfounded biased statement. Part 103 lives on as general aviation is dieing on the vine. GA pilots usually get hurt in slow, high lift, high drag aircraft thinking they know how to fly anything with wings..Look up FAA/NTSB stats you GA drivers are the most unsafe in the aviation world..
@ignoranceisgross Im a fool because i let somebody fly a plane who didnt know how......nope that lady is dumb as shit and so are the people who let her go up

also, maybe ot was her fault, or maybe the rudder got stuck righ, which was why she kept circling to the right. but im thinking its female error, when women panic all they do is frazzle up and dont think straight other then to cry and moan till its all over. women dont think rationally, they think emotionally.
I think she sucked so bad in bed and in the kitchen that her husband gave her the keys and said "oh, sure, you can fly it, it's easy!" LOL People that fly planes without any instruction are brain dead and deserve to be ridiculed!
Some of the comments for this video are ROFL hilarious! However, if that were my wife, she wouldn't even be driving a car anymore, she would be chained to my kitchen floor.
That was just unnecessary risk taking. No one should attempt such an endeavor. I hope she would not let this deter her from seeking appropriate flight training.
My granddad was a P-38, P-39, and P-40 pilot; my dad was an air traffic controller; we use to own a private plane. I designed a aircombat video game that has 100,000 players to date on it, on which I'm top dog. I've never flown an airplane in my life, but I bet if you put my ass in one I'd be victory rolling and hammerheading that baby on the first solo. Cause I'm gangsta like that. F! the FAA and its damn regulations that make flying prohibitivly expensive for broke ass teenagers like me.
@cobrachoppergirl Flying on a videogame and flying in real life are two totally different things. The FAA has rules set in place to protect other pilots from idiots like this, albeit some of their rules are a bit restricting. Rather than designing some "aircombat videogame", get a job. That's how you make money to start flight lessons. And it's not the FAA that makes it expensive. It's the rising fuel costs and the fact that it's harder for instructors to make a profit. Stop complaining, lol.
"Pull on stick-plane go up. Push on stick- plane go down. Well, that concludes the training, why don't YOU try it now?"
What a bunch of morons. It must have seemed like a great idea to buy a plane and join the "how hard can it be?" crowd. They are lucky they didn't lose a mother and wife. As a pilot, it made me sick to my stomach watching the video and knowing that it was going to end badly.
@Ballbuster319 What is with all the kitchen bullshit? I bet your the type of person who has been divorced 2 times and has to pay child support to 3 mothers.....
@Ballbuster319 now now, no need for that, she made a small miscalculation thats all............................ although she should have measured the kitchen window before trying to fly through it.
No previous piloting experience?!? Did her family hate her or something? I can imagine the conversation: "Here, why don't you sit in this airplane thingy, and push that stick that says 'throttle'. When you go up in the air...turn. Piece of cake!"
at least she clearly has a sense of adventure !! funny that guy was yelling with instructions as she could probably hear it clear and loud, haha people are stupid!!
@mostly4moderate, I have been a pilot for many years also, own a plane, an ultralight, several hang gliders and live on an airport. I have been a member of hang glider, ultralight, experimental, and general aviation aircraft organizations. I have known a number of people who have died in GA accidents, but none who have died in an ultralight. I have never heard of an ultralight accident resulting in substantial damage or injury to anything or anyone on the ground. Part 103 is alive and well.
@MrBillLumberg, This is not the first aircraft that Mrs. Venditti had flown and nor the first time she had flown this aircraft. My wife who has been flying with me for the last 20 years has never bothered to get her license, but is a very capable pilot. I would imagine that if she crashed one of our planes... the title to the news stories would be as misleading as this one is. The media makes their money by stiring up ignorant idiots. Children read comments here, clean up your comments please!
@vonnieglen Flying is easy sure. No reason to defend idiots on youtube. I enjoyed the old days of no rules, but you should really have your wife take some responsibility and get her license. or just wait till something goes wrong and shes becomes a "negligent unlicensed idiot going to jail for dumb shit"
@mryellow123 My wife has been flying with me for more nearly 20 years. She has landed and taken off in the plane more times than I can remember. This is for her own safety. I trust her at the controls of our plane more than anyone else that I know. Spending the money to get the blessing of the FAA for her has no real advantage to us at this time; it is doubtful that it would enhance our safety much if at all. Please spend the money for an intro flight; flying is easy, rewarding and fun.
@mryellow123 My wife does not go flying without me, so I am pilot in command and would be the one legally responsible were some sort of incident to take place. Having two licensed pilots in the plane would not enhance our financial security. We are hoping to buy a war bird, so with encouragement from her friends in the 99s she is planning on getting her license so that she can fly it to airshows without me. Having the governments blessing does not make you any safer. Safety is up to the pilot.
@mryellow123 A Perry Mason moment! ; ) Yes, yes I admit it, you got me. If we get the warbird we will be spending the money to get the government's blessing. I encourage others to get their pilot's license; it opens up a new world. We paid $17,600 for our plane and even with all the hours we put on it... it is still worth more than we paid. We can fly from WA State to visit relatives in CA in less than 6 hours from the time we leave our house, and it costs us less than flying on an airliner.
"Where's your sense of adventure?" Famous last words! Even better is the kid's comment, "Those things [rescue crew] come out like bees, huh?" Ahh, that was awesome...
I have been flying hang gliders, ultralights, and general aviation airplanes for over 20 years. I also soloed in an ultralight with no previous experience. It is very possible that she got her shoe caught under one of the pedals and panicked. It is too bad many of those commenting here haven't read Stick and Rudder, An Explanation of the Art of Flying. If people understood the actual mechanics of flight, the comments would be far more palatable. I am very glad that she wasn't killed.
i REALLY hope someone went to jail over this. this is a clear violation of FAR part 61.87 which address the requirments for a student pilot to solo. and she wasn't even a student pilot!
why should a husband and a son allow themself to watch a wife/mother

F! the FAA and its damn regulations that make flying prohibitivly expensive for broke ass teenagers like me.
cobrachoppergirl 7 months ago
@cobrachoppergirl Flying on a videogame and flying in real life are two totally different things. The FAA has rules set in place to protect other pilots from idiots like this, albeit some of their rules are a bit restricting. Rather than designing some "aircombat videogame", get a job. That's how you make money to start flight lessons. And it's not the FAA that makes it expensive. It's the rising fuel costs and the fact that it's harder for instructors to make a profit. Stop complaining, lol.
wiiboy456 7 months ago
@cobrachoppergirl Just a note, the FAA isnt the reason learning to fly is expensive.....

No previous piloting experience?!? Did her family hate her or something? I can imagine the conversation: "Here, why don't you sit in this airplane thingy, and push that stick that says 'throttle'. When you go up in the air...turn. Piece of cake!"

I enjoyed the old days of no rules, but you should really have your wife take some responsibility and get her license. or just wait till something goes wrong and shes becomes a "negligent unlicensed idiot going to jail for dumb shit"
mryellow123 9 months ago
@mryellow123 My wife has been flying with me for more nearly 20 years. She has landed and taken off in the plane more times than I can remember. This is for her own safety. I trust her at the controls of our plane more than anyone else that I know. Spending the money to get the blessing of the FAA for her has no real advantage to us at this time; it is doubtful that it would enhance our safety much if at all. Please spend the money for an intro flight; flying is easy, rewarding and fun.
vonnieglen 9 months ago
@vonnieglen It would enhance your financial security when something goes wrong involving a 3rd party.
mryellow123 9 months ago
@mryellow123 My wife does not go flying without me, so I am pilot in command and would be the one legally responsible were some sort of incident to take place. Having two licensed pilots in the plane would not enhance our financial security. We are hoping to buy a war bird, so with encouragement from her friends in the 99s she is planning on getting her license so that she can fly it to airshows without me. Having the governments blessing does not make you any safer. Safety is up to the pilot.
vonnieglen 9 months ago 2
@vonnieglen ahh so the situation isn't as you first described it....
mryellow123 9 months ago
@mryellow123 A Perry Mason moment! ; ) Yes, yes I admit it, you got me. If we get the warbird we will be spending the money to get the government's blessing. I encourage others to get their pilot's license; it opens up a new world. We paid $17,600 for our plane and even with all the hours we put on it... it is still worth more than we paid. We can fly from WA State to visit relatives in CA in less than 6 hours from the time we leave our house, and it costs us less than flying on an airliner.

I am very glad that she wasn't killed.
vonnieglen 10 months ago
@vonnieglen no excuses whatsoever to be in a aircraft no matter how big or small, without any previous flight instruction. Are you joking me?

i REALLY hope someone went to jail over this. this is a clear violation of FAR part 61.87 which address the requirments for a student pilot to solo. and she wasn't even a student pilot!
bradporky16 10 months ago
@bradporky16 Ultralight planes are extempt from any requirements. See FAR part 103.7. Which IMHO is stupid in itself, but there you have it.
