  • I remember when I first moved in to my new apartment if felt very lonely versus living with a big family that I use to live with and I remember playing this song while looking up in my ceiling. This song is always attache to that memory now an adult.

  • just shut your eyes all will become known

  • My brother made me discover BOC 2 years ago.

I hope that, where he is now, he can hear their songs all the time. <3

  • im glad im not the only one that feels this waay towards this song :)

  • Its... so... simple jet so... refined, calming...

I wish words could describe the feeling it gives, but its so... well, yeah.

    dangit :')

  • looking out of the window, watching the clouds passing by...

  • Sometimes my skin seethes as this song spits its sound out of my speakers

  • Boards of Canada makes me feel like I'm going home again and everyone's alive and waiting for me.

    Kiteracer 2

  • It's good to know other humans out there hear this and feel right at home.

  • Kick back, close your eyes, and let your mind free.

  • i am going to say something entirely unrelated to BOC, i hope you forgive me, but i just noticed there are some really funny usernames on these pages,LOL such as papersplease, sluttyfrogmagician, summerteeeth and msalami. I suddenly saw it. :D

  • @eshnic Well, technically, “Summerteeth” is the name of an album and song by the band Wilco and I am fairly certain that sluttyfrogmagician is a famous German physicist. So I am not quite sure why you think these names are funny. Also, I absolutely will not forgive you for posting such off-topic nonsense. This Youtube page is a sacred site for God’s sake and only thoughtful discussions relating to BoC (and drug stories, religious debates, etc.) are allowed here. Thank you for your time.

  • @kida78968789 hehehe, ok ok ,im sorry, then i will just say, BOC makes music that gives me a feeling of serenity and calmness. it also makes me see the humor in life, like small things, like, peoples usernames. xD may your Christmas be as joyfull and spiritual as the sounds of BOC. ;)

  • @eshnic colour me mortified :p "summer teeth point this way, summer teeth point that way" ;)

  • Why does BoC have a patent on nostalgia?

  • P.S. [Press PLAY!]

  • People look at me like I'm a madman when I say I like boring days. The conversation below reminds me of what I'd normally want to say about it. But when I'm in a position to say something it always seems like the more I say the further away I get from what I mean. So I usually just saying nothing. Which makes me look crazier. Ha!

Some years ago I went through a rough time and this track, somehow, made me feel better. To this day I feel nostalgic, in a good way, about it.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • seems to always bring u back to something good.

  • I'm tripping out on ritalin as I watch this video

  • @Laubotje ...wow.

  • Audible beauty.

  • It takes great patience to like BoC.

  • @Paperhouse81 I don't understand what you mean by that.

  • @toGatherThinskin Well, their music is rather slow and meditative, well most songs, and it involves patience to listen to them. I love them.

  • @toGatherThinskin Ditto.

  • @Paperhouse81 i see where youre coming from, but idk if i can agree. i mean, im totally down with the idea that you dont get the full feeling the first time (or the 100th time in my case. haha) but rather than patience or persistence, id say it takes great heart to to BoC. its something you open up to and embrace before you can really love it.

  • @ramafia09 Well yeah...the patience is tolerating hum drum sounds. You know, the ability to sit there and absorb and digest their music...thats the patience i mean. But yes.

  • @Paperhouse81 Patience is a good way of describing it. Living in a society like we have, there is shit being thrown at us constantly. Turn on the TV and you'll get advertisements, telling us things like, go go go, hurry, buy, do things, be busy!!! Being submersed in that mentality twenty four hours a day, every day, programs a person to be like that. A lot of us don't know how to slow down, to turn off the switch and just relax. Once you do, it's rather enjoyable. Music is a means to that end.

  • @Pwnzor729 Yup.

  • @Pwnzor729 hey those are my thoughts well described

  • Damn, that picture is moving! Skip ahead and check it out :-))

  • This is great. Love the video. I saw them live at Incredible WARP lighthouse party - excellent stuff..

  • Nostalgic Electronica.

BOC you seize to amaze me.

  • Boards of Canada kind of snapped me out of it. out of the normal world. it made me kind of... wake up. you know?

  • @SomeoneNamedTom Nah, I don't know...think you're trying too hard to sound deep and meaningfull. Please explain?

  • BoC needs to make a proper recording of this, without the annoying people in the background. This track is just fantastic.

  • @BlackSunSerenade You wish for a recording of this track without the people talking in the background, but isn't indistinguishable background chatter a staple of the Boards of Canada sound? What would a song like “Turquoise Hexagon Sun” be if it didn’t have the rumbling chatter of a pool hall in the background? And what about “’84 Pontiac Dream” where BoC used the sounds of a busy city to underscore the music?

  • @BlackSunSerenade These tiny additions give these songs character, and I think the same is true for the crowd in this song. They have unknowingly added bits of dialogue and ambience that embellishes BoC’s music. Whether it is a whistle, a man saying “tell him to switch it off,” or the progressive sound of a rowdy crowd slowly becoming quieter and quieter over the duration of the song. To me, the crowd chatter is as integral to this song as the music is.

  • i always check the 7th page...

  • nice tune. love that pic

  • i love this :*) its makes me feel like im floating on a cloud smoking weed and listenning to BOC in slow motion

  • timestretched instrumental of magical mystery tour

  • :'( :)

  • I hate those nut jobs who whistles instead of listening!

  • @henrikroback yeah true. but can you really blame them? how many people can say they saw boc live?

  • I was in bed, lights off, just about to fall asleep with this tune playing, then it stopped and the crowd started cheering - half asleep I thought there was a gang of dogs screaming outside and I jumped out of bed in a panic. Typical BoC really, every moment of beauty is footnoted with the aroma of dread :)

  • 3:35 Is it recording? Switch it off !

  • @msalami1 3:39 Cheers

  • B-O-A-R-D-S O-F C-A-N-A-D-A

  • dont go back from here to your old demons ;)

  • If BOC ever come to my country, i will save up for my own aeroplane tickets (Being 13) to travel to the venue with my Voice recorder so i can hear tracks like this, that are unreleased.

  • this song brings me back my dad

  • @mappo2345 Whoa. That brought a tear to my eye.

  • How could you make noise during such a beautiful intro.

  • Perfect.

  • i love how the crowd is completly silent throughout until the end when it stops and they cheer... Its like boc have the ability to put their listeners into a semi hypnotic state/trance.

  • Theres this early 2000's rock song with this guy in the chords beautiful voice and the song share this rythem any one know it? Killing me..

  • the brother of Stone in Focus

  • @blazedrelief I listen to Stone In Focus and 5-9-78 almost every night before I go to sleep.

  • Had you been there it would gone down as so:

    BoC: Braaaaaaaah!

    You: Whoaaaaa!

    Crowd: Yeeeeeeeaaaah!

    Me: Right?!

  • I'd cry if I ever were to see BoC live, no joke.

  • @renaud68 damn fuckin right. even though im 22 and im straight hetero

  • @renaud68 i think the same thing to myself all the time

  • @renaud68 It would be a massive privilege. Live performances can be counted on your hands.

  • Comment removed

  • @renaud68 I would too. I don't care if it was my last dollar or they were playin 500miles away Id go see them.

  • @renaud68 I cried when I saw the Gorillaz, I would probably die if I saw BOC.

  • @renaud68 I would find some space alone. Such personal music, evokes such beautiful memories.

  • @renaud68 me too. I really would like to see them. where could we ever meet them?

  • @aeschlimann89

    In our dreams :)

  • i sure hope the new boc release includes this and other beautiful ambient pieces...to sit in a field overlooking the sea, as the summers day slowly becomes night would be absolute bliss.

  • @anewcleardawn Now that sounds like an amazing evening!

  • if heaven was just this stuck on repeat for eternity i could die happy.

  • And the picture... hell yea. RELAXATION with Bliss. Imagine laying under the tree on a warm summer day with BOC playing quietly in the background with the wind whistling and the trees rustling...

  • perfecto before going to sleep

  • When I hear this, I forget about all the shit in the world... It's in this moment in time everything fits together and everything floats along just right.

  • @StevetheEmperor Open your mind.

  • @4rchitek I'll open FL Studio 9, mess with default pads and get the same result

  • @StevetheEmperor Do that please... i would buy your music.

  • I like how someone said press play at the begining

  • @volcanobox ha, in all these years, never noticed that before...!

  • @volcanobox

I am the guy that shouts "press play"!

  • @mildredsmittens you were there? lucky you! can you remember what visuals were used with this track?

  • @summerteeeth two old skool tv's either side of the stage showing visuals and a large projection on the wall behind them (ten years ago but that's how i remember it). i remember the skiing visuals. new stuff from geogaddi was played but i did not know what it was at the time because this was 2001. the atmosphere was electric and it was a very special experience that i doubt will be repeated soon. but in some ways i am glad it's a one off experience because i will always cherish that memory.

  • It still amazes me how BoC just....is. There's no better word for me to describe their music. It always feels so right and natural when I'm listening to them. As if the music is supposed to be there.

  • @Kewn i completely agree

  • I wanna sit at the base of that tree.

  • Gotta mean something with 0 dislikes, dont see that often

  • I feel as though B.O.C. found this song on an ancient tablet and translated the notes to modern day instruments... It has such a beautiful ambiance about it, making my room's atmosphere seem richer and thicker with these resonating waves...

Whenever I feel anxious or depressed, I always turn to this song for reassurance.

  • A new album by BOC is loooong overdue.

Nowadays many electronica artists try to immitate their sound but the truth is that most of them miss something: the warmth and the soul that exist in their seemingly simple music patterns. BOC's music was always much more than the sum of its parts.

  • @tsoplika I think they've got families now, but I'm sure soon they'll get something out.

  • @LIGHTRONIX many artists have wives. Thats not a reason to slack around! We are hungry and only a BOC LP will sate us! :-)

  • A friend of mine went to a BoC concert. He said they're really bad to see live, even though he loves their music. Most IDM just isn't concert kind of music.

  • @ToasterToast cool story bro

  • what makes this version so fucking nice is the crowd talking. It must be so amazing to stand there, the music blends in with the sounds of the environment, that's always like that with boards. I always put boards on when there is a lot of rumour in a room, it makes people talk quit, but they don't stop talking. I enjoy those moments. With this track the people get quiet as the song progresses, but they don't shut up completely. So beautifull, that talking is a part of the song!

  • such an imense spectrum of emotions triggered by such a simple melodic line... unreal.

  • I came buckets, so many buckets...

  • tune's more effective than a strong painkiller.

  • who thought nostalgia could be captured in sound

  • wow, a totally different sound, clean clear and focused unlike their older stuff thats very old sounding and fuzzy.

  • I'd love to be beneath that tree with the girl of my dreams.

  • words cannot describe...

  • everything is alright in this universe, and happy.

  • i love everything right now

  • kind of stars of the lid-y

  • Beautiful. BestRegards from Denmark,

  • It soothes the soul and opens the mind..

  • could you guys please check out my music and give me feedback =) thx

  • I didn't even notice the background image was changing, mental.

  • mental

  • Sen as ever making amazing visuals to amazing music! hats off to you my friend :)

  • What I like about this chord progression is that it sounds like it will resolve on the 4th chord but instead it just hangs there ambiguously.

  • Discovering Boards Of Canada back in 2002 was the best thing that happened to me musically and mentally. This is the song the whole world needs to hear. Music is the key.

  • I wouldn't be the same if I had never listened to '84 Pontiac Dream and discovered Boards of Canada. My life has changed for the greater good. This is an astral, god-like sound.

  • Really intelligent stuff.. Melancholic... Not happy, Not sad...

I remember deadmau5 telling in an interview that this is his inspiration..

  • Boards of Canada changed my life

  • @papersplease same here homie

  • @papersplease same here

  • everyone shuts up at the end, that means it wos effective

  • EXCEPTIONAL TUNE!

  • I don't see why anyone would complain about the talking throughout the crowd.

I think it adds to/fits their music (example: see Turquoise Hexagon Sun)

  • @Jenetik214 You wouldn't think so if you were there trying to enjoy the performance.

  • @Synthetrix exactly, remember that this song was not released!!! :/

  • they are outsiders to whistle and talk during a song like that ... the Boards of Canada are heard in silence and meditation

  • I heard mp3iiify is the best site to download songs like this. Google mp3iiify.

  • reminds me of brian eno's an ending...

man, raelly LOVE these harmonic soundscapes. ambient music is the deepest art to me.

just comparable to the sound of foaming waves flashing over white shores or like ya said....wind in the trees.

    exhaaaaaale... :)

  • man, these BoC tunes reminds me of happy times, u know, childhood, highschool, now i got gf to become a wife, man...

  • 2.16 "They should be down in stage 2"... LOL what sort of retard would want to go to another stage when boards of canada are playing? This track is a breth of fresh air, so relaxing. If i had to place it on an album it would probly be the campfire headphase album, it has that sound imo.

  • It is on The Campfire Headphase. Remember A Moment of Clarity?

  • Yes i know tat track man. Its 0.52 seconds long and tbh dosnt sound like this one. If anything this reminds me a bit of 'tears from the compound eye'. These types of BOC tracks are so very relaxing and bring out alot of deep emotions. Love them!!!! <3

  • wow this is really leveling material, glad they exist.

  • nothing compares to them, I never understood what they meant by BoC having a more "organic" sound then other forms of electronic music. Now I know :)

  • have you heard the new seven forty seven track??

    it is a grail ! a must !

  • beautiful......and very sad indeed

  • this is my favorite track by BoC (and i love everything they do)

  • I can only imagine the feeling of being there when BOC started playing.

  • God I love that photo.

    Great combo!

  • This is beautiful and completely original. I can't really categorize this into any one of their major albums. So just hearing something brand new from their older works (even though it's live) is such a breath of fresh air.

  • Which is this track??? I didn't knew?? It seem like a beautiful dream!!!!
