@Kazz52321 Common sense would be he turned the light on to check and see if he injured the deer at all, in which he would have to contact the wildlife officials to come get the deer, and possibly take it in to get treated if need be. Because honestly those lights are bright and it's much faster to turn them on to get a glimpse than to have to get out or use a spotlight which not every police vehicle has.

When the emergency lights/siren arent activated the camera doesnt record, kind of like a tivo. ready to record while your watching, just have to hit the button (turn on the lights). The systems usually record and save the 10-30 seconds prior to activation of the lights, and then for however long till you stop it. He flipped them on so he could save the video to back up his story when he got back to the station
