@Tyco200 no they wouldn't. All the Deadalus would have to do would be to beam a Mk.5 into the enigine room, or the CIC, or the flight deck and then they would have crippled them, making them easy prey for the Asguard Plasma Cannons, or railguns.

Also, do remember that the Marathon can easily destroy a CCS class BC, and has superior armor. Valiant class HC makes it worse for the covenant. >:D! And do remember it took one fighter, carrying a nuke, to blow a flagship of the Covenant navy during the battle of the installations!

None of the technology from Battlestar Galactica could do much of anything against the wraith, ori or even the Tauri ships. They don't have transporters or anything cool.
BSG had an interesting overall plot, but what annoyed me is that it obviously praises superstition and makes a science of it while it downgrades real science, logic and skepticism to a really low level. Stargate is ingenious in almost all aspects, and i think it takes more thinking and more intellect to analyze the analogies that they put out "between the lines".
@WaywardSonCRO Religion? Well actually it doesn't.. It only embraces its concept. If you noticed, religion only features in a small bit of the series. The rest of it is deism; and most of them deists are nut cases. The main plot arc was mascarrading as religious jibber jabber, but it was all ground in science. And either way, this is a political drama. And about how people in a time of war, need something to hold on to, to keep them going.

It's a creation or better to say (re-creation) story, lliterally every episode is riddled with religious bullcrap - even skeptic part of the crew becomes somewhat religious because they get the proof of prophecies fulfilling. Cylons are super-duper religious and annoying(SIX constantly pushes it to her "scientist-boy"). So - giving proof for otherwise superstitious nonsense through religious context is what?

I mostly liked this video. Pretty good editing, didn't mute the audio which is seen far too often. The battle itself could have been longer though, and the ending was funny once but kind of ruins it for me.

a 304 have beaming tech.(which galactica cant protect itself against, yaaah beam all personnel out into space or beam a nuke inside the CIC). asgard shields(powerful)
and their beam weapons which easily can take out a wraith hive so it should have any trouble with galactica.

hm...from what i see in the series, i would say that a BC304 ship is more agile than the galactica...so it could avoid the shells and rockets and so on... on the other hand, it seems that galactica only can avoid missiles by jumping away...and this just every 33 minutes...
if it withstands even one attack (for example with those asgard beams...), it couldn´t do anything against the guerilla tactics of the Daedalus...
but, what about the Galactica Fighter Wing, i don`t know if all those Vipers will stand down so easy, thay could round Daedalus and smash it with some nuke missiles.
@Contrel i would say that vipers are about as powerful as Wraith darts...and i think daedalus fought against more wraith darts thatn the galactica could carry vipers... the galactica can carry about 80 vipers (i think)...maybe some more...but not MANY more...and wraith hiveships can carry several hundreds of those darts... and the wraith would be stupid not to send at least 100 darts against the daedalus...
@ContrelThe fighter wing would be an asset if the battle lasted long, however, by the time the Vipers reach Daedalus, the Galactica will be a debris field, and the Daedalus can jump to hyperspace and let the Vipers fly around in space until they run out of oxygen, or Caldwell can be generous and beam the pilots into the brig... after he builds one.
@CobaltX07 Vipers need seconds only to reach Daedalus, and Galactica or Pegasus, specially Pegasus can hold on enough, Pegasus and Galactica had endured even nukes, and there´s another factor on the Battlestars side, the Raptors, a Raptor jumping rigth in front of the Daedalus bridge or the engines and firing nukes could make battlestars save the day, peace man :D
@Contrel The Daedalus needs only 5 seconds to kill a battlestar, (that's what they set the nuke timers for), Pegasus and Galactica have never endured gigaton nukes or nukes beamed into their CIC. Raptors need far longer to calculate jumping inside Daedalus's shields (and couldn't do it if it was moving), and Viper nukes would be pretty useless against the Daedalus. Galactica might be able to pull of a sneak attack, but if Daedalus gets the slightest idea of the attack, they have no chance.

@Contrel Moving target? Galactica hardly moves any faster then a Wraith hiveship usually they sit still, the Daedalus can move at half the speed of light (granted they sometimes sit still too). Beaming a nuke into the CIC is still the easiest way to dispose of Galactica (second only to Asgard beam weapons). The gigaton nukes are also still instant kill shots. In the miniseries, when Galactica had full armor, a single kiloton-level nuke caused heavy damage, a 1 gt + nuke is a guaranteed kill.
@CobaltX07 Most of the times Galactica has to stand still because has to shield the civilian fleet, but when raided resurrection ship or when engaged the cylon colony , she manouvered pretty good for me, and thats where the viper wing comes handy, nuke incoming to galactica can be destroyed by a Viper at flight, ok it would be a massive blast, maybe erasing all near vipers, i´m agree Daedalus can kill a Battlestar with no effort,but with just one single surviving raptor Daedalus is dead too
@Contrel The movement is kind of pointless though, in SG-1's "Pegasus Project," they were able to beam a nuke onto a ship moving at incredibly fast speeds, while inside the gravity well of a black hole, in a time dilation field (caused by said black hole) and not only destroy the ship, but time the explosion so the blast was focused into an open wormhole and destroyed another ship. I agree that if a raptor got inside the shields it'd be bad, but Daedalus would have won and be long gone by then.
@CobaltX07 The disparities are inmense, ok, but Daedalus has to be at least in combat reach, don´t you think?, if she has to spend 1 minute killing a Battlestar , that`s time enough for a Raptor make Daedalus never comeback home
@Contrel Er, once again, I think that's probably situational. The Raptors and Galactica could take out Daedalus in an ambush, but in any other case, even if the Raptors jump past the shield (which they can't do if Daedalus uses evasive maneuvers), they'd have to either get inside the ship itself or nuke something with alot of naquadah, otherwise their kiloton nukes won't be enough to kill the Daedalus.
@CobaltX07 You know, i´m enjoying this, long time without talking about sci-fi...a Kiloton Nuke will be enough...let me explain why (i´ll use a SG-1 resource )we can see throug Daedalus Shield, that means that ligth can enter and exit, Galactica and Raptors don´t make a Space Fold, they make FTL Jump its masses acts like photons, that´s why a raptor can break into Daedalus shields and doesn´t need destroy the ship,a Nuke releases deadly gamma rays that could kill the crew instantly.
@Contrel Shields block radiation, we know this because every time they go near a star in Atlantis, Rodney complains about radiation and boosts shield power, in SG-1, a Goa'uld mothership's shields were said to be able to block the sun's radiation in the coronosphere for one hour with no problems, so nukes outside the shields wouldn't be a problem, nukes inside the shields would require the Daedalus to sit still and it might (I stress the word might) have radiological armor like the Wraith.
@CobaltX07 If Daedalus has energy shields, it migth not have more armorthan that, Galactica has no such energy sields, so it has to have radiological armor attached to the hull, if a Raptor enters and delivers a nuke, the gamma rays could kill the crew,and doesn´t need to actually destroy the ship. i think Daedalus vs Galactica is something like Yamato Battleship vs Taffy 3 task force.
@Contrel I still want to know though, can a Raptor exit Galactica, arm a nuke, jump inside the shields, and deliver a nuke inside of a minute or even (if Daedalus comes prepared) inside of 5 seconds? As much as i like both series and have been afan of Stargate uch longer then of battlestar galactica, i would say a batllestar is much tougher then the deadalus or odessey. Without it's shield there is no way it can withstand nuclear missiles the way galactica does. However, i think all the ancient and asgard weaponary heavily outwheigh galactica's batteries, as ori-ships with shields have been destroyed by only a handfull of blasts by asgard-weapons. Tough match...
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH They've withstood some Wraith blasts, so it could withstand some but not many. Of course, it's not like they'd conveniently drop shields so the Galactica would have a chance, and with shields up, they could almost certainly take every nuke and projectile ordinance on board the Galactica without getting their paint scratched.
The Galactica took some major hits. I haven't counted but troughout the series, i'd say about 20 nukes hit it and it stil flew. Furthermore the Galactica was heavily outdated and , as told in season 4, build with inferior metals. Imagine what it would withstand if it hadn't been build in a hury, let alone if it was a modern battlestar such as the Pegasus. Have you seen Galactica's and better yet, Pegasus's batteries fire? ....
.... Once their shields are down, the oddesey would be destroyed in seconds by the ordinance of the Galactica or Pegasus. We have never seen the shields of the Oddesey or Deadalus taken physical weapons. We only saw energy weapons, as far as i know. No way of knowing what shells or missiles would do against them
The fact that i have yet to see an episode of stargate where the oddesey's shield stops a physical weapon. It only stops energy weapons as far as i know. But again i'm not saying galactica would win, just that it is thougher
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH Furthermore your assuming there shields will go down, the Odyssey always has a ZPM, with that they can withstand a CME, which is equivalent to all the nukes dropped on Caprica and then some. They can also take 200 megaton energy blasts like they were blowdarts, show one instance Galactica put out more than that in 1 battle.
Furthermore, have you ever seen the last episode of Battlestar Galactica, Daybreak part 2? The amount of ordinance that the Galactica withstood from the Colony, knowing that Galactica was already damaged beyond repair, is unbelievable. I'm not saying Stargate sucks or anything, i've been a fan of stargate longer then battlestar galactica. But if you ask me which sip is tougher, i will without a doubt say Galactica, let alone up to date battlestars like Pegasus
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH I've seen that too and nowhere did Galactica survive an 800 gigaton explosive the likes of which would materialize in their CIC. I have no doubt Galactica has better armor, but it's all pointless against an enemy with shields, better weapons, more speed, and the ability to beam nukes inside a ship.
I don't know how many gigatons a laserblast in the sg-universe is... I didn't say galactica would win. I said it is a thougher ship. Which means without it's shields, Oddesey can't withstand the kind of ordinance galactica did.
You have to admit a viper would win a battle against a f-302 though. That seems pretty obvious
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH The plasma energy weapon yield doesn't matter, what matters is that it cuts apart 11 km long ships like swiss cheese. What also mattera is that stargate has nukes millions of times stronger than Galactica's (they literally have nukes more than 1000000x the yield of some of those old kiloton nukes we commonly see thrown around) and they can beam these nukes into the CIC. Like I said, Galactica is tougher in terms of armor not in terms of anything else.
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH Also, were in commanding the Odyssey, I wouldn't even have the 302s engage the vipers, since the vipers pose no threat even if they rammed the Odyssey, I'd have them jump inside the hangar bays with the hyperdrive (like they did to Anubis's ship), allow a few seconds for the people on Galactica to think 'what-the-frak' before launching 1.2 gigaton nukes inside the ship.
Yes, but i said, if they would engage, a viper would win. A viper is far more agile and manouverable then an f-302. I am yet to saay an f-302 spin 360° around it's own mid-axxle in mid-flight
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH The 302 hasn't though their missiles can do 270 degree turns and have a range of several kilometers. I believe they would also be more effective in atmo since a viper's agility would be compromised, but again I'm not saying they'd beat the vipers in space, just that they wouldn't even bother and go straight for Galactica. In fact, a 302 with a hyperdrive and a Mark IX could probably destroy Galactica.

And yes, that's exactly what would happen. All those beautiful little explosions around Galactica...they're pointless. It's the defense perimeter. If a Daedalus cruiser doesn't launch fighters, it's pointless, since they can't stop energy beams. Ship-to-ship missiles are also useless, as the Daedalus' shields would stop them. Even if they didn't, the ship has withstood hits from energy weapons far stronger than what Galactica can throw at it.
Furthermore, the Daedalus class' energy weapons would cut through the Galactica like a hot knife through butter. Not to mention the fact that they're also armed with multi-gigaton yield nuclear missiles, far more powerful than anything in the Galactica's arsenal. And they wouldn't even need to fire them. They could just transport them on-board. Yes, if we follow what the two shows present, a Daedalus class cruiser could wipe out Galactica in a few minutes at most. But again, this is all for fun.

mature, yes, any good for the audience who is watching it, no. It lacks the small humor or even a sngle pun to let off teh constant darkness feeling and over exagerates reactions of characters (a rebellion over puttin gmachines in a ship when the only chance of survival are those machines, thats kinda an obvious one) its a good series, with a good story, but it is just to overly serious and exagerates thigns to the extremee sometimes. Stargate is good overall, less serious, but serious enough.

Big V Small, im willing to bet on the 304 :) . She can beam a warhead inside the target ships and her shields can take a pounding not counting the Plasma weaponry :P . They are only 200 meters ( Same size as Prometheus, they are just wider and more streamlined )
BSG has plenty of weaponry and thick armor plus a solid backup plan ( FTL, jump out ) . BSG is just a massive target to the small advanced ship
I'm a huge fan of the promethus. i think they need to make more of those ships as flag ships but with updated tech. If you mounted az weps on them they would be unstoppable beasts. with the shields and armor upgrades.
But BSG has to charge their FTL drive making that area a really big target for beam weapons.and a BC-304's shields can take a few nukes and drones and energy wepons to boot. so yea.

BSG had an interesting overall plot, but what annoyed me is that it obviously praises superstition and makes a science of it while it downgrades real science, logic and skepticism to a really low level. Stargate is ingenious in almost all aspects, and i think it takes more thinking and more intellect to analyze the analogies that they put out "between the lines".

The rest of it is deism; and most of them deists are nut cases. The main plot arc was mascarrading as religious jibber jabber, but it was all ground in science. And either way, this is a political drama. And about how people in a time of war, need something to hold on to, to keep them going.

It's a creation or better to say (re-creation) story, lliterally every episode is riddled with religious bullcrap - even skeptic part of the crew becomes somewhat religious because they get the proof of prophecies fulfilling. Cylons are super-duper religious and annoying(SIX constantly pushes it to her "scientist-boy"). So - giving proof for otherwise superstitious nonsense through religious context is what?

Too much superstitious beliefs in the series came about to be truth, even though till it happened they were pulling it out of their asses. hm...from what i see in the series, i would say that a BC304 ship is more agile than the galactica...so it could avoid the shells and rockets and so on... on the other hand, it seems that galactica only can avoid missiles by jumping away...and this just every 33 minutes...
if it withstands even one attack (for example with those asgard beams...), it couldn´t do anything against the guerilla tactics of the Daedalus...

@Contrel i would say that vipers are about as powerful as Wraith darts...and i think daedalus fought against more wraith darts thatn the galactica could carry vipers... the galactica can carry about 80 vipers (i think)...maybe some more...but not MANY more...and wraith hiveships can carry several hundreds of those darts... and the wraith would be stupid not to send at least 100 darts against the daedalus...

@ContrelThe fighter wing would be an asset if the battle lasted long, however, by the time the Vipers reach Daedalus, the Galactica will be a debris field, and the Daedalus can jump to hyperspace and let the Vipers fly around in space until they run out of oxygen, or Caldwell can be generous and beam the pilots into the brig... after he builds one.

@Contrel The Daedalus needs only 5 seconds to kill a battlestar, (that's what they set the nuke timers for), Pegasus and Galactica have never endured gigaton nukes or nukes beamed into their CIC. Raptors need far longer to calculate jumping inside Daedalus's shields (and couldn't do it if it was moving), and Viper nukes would be pretty useless against the Daedalus. Galactica might be able to pull of a sneak attack, but if Daedalus gets the slightest idea of the attack, they have no chance.

@Contrel Moving target? Galactica hardly moves any faster then a Wraith hiveship usually they sit still, the Daedalus can move at half the speed of light (granted they sometimes sit still too). Beaming a nuke into the CIC is still the easiest way to dispose of Galactica (second only to Asgard beam weapons). The gigaton nukes are also still instant kill shots. In the miniseries, when Galactica had full armor, a single kiloton-level nuke caused heavy damage, a 1 gt + nuke is a guaranteed kill.

@CobaltX07 Most of the times Galactica has to stand still because has to shield the civilian fleet, but when raided resurrection ship or when engaged the cylon colony , she manouvered pretty good for me, and thats where the viper wing comes handy, nuke incoming to galactica can be destroyed by a Viper at flight, ok it would be a massive blast, maybe erasing all near vipers, i´m agree Daedalus can kill a Battlestar with no effort,but with just one single surviving raptor Daedalus is dead too

@Contrel The movement is kind of pointless though, in SG-1's "Pegasus Project," they were able to beam a nuke onto a ship moving at incredibly fast speeds, while inside the gravity well of a black hole, in a time dilation field (caused by said black hole) and not only destroy the ship, but time the explosion so the blast was focused into an open wormhole and destroyed another ship. I agree that if a raptor got inside the shields it'd be bad, but Daedalus would have won and be long gone by then.

@Contrel Er, once again, I think that's probably situational. The Raptors and Galactica could take out Daedalus in an ambush, but in any other case, even if the Raptors jump past the shield (which they can't do if Daedalus uses evasive maneuvers), they'd have to either get inside the ship itself or nuke something with alot of naquadah, otherwise their kiloton nukes won't be enough to kill the Daedalus.

@Contrel Shields block radiation, we know this because every time they go near a star in Atlantis, Rodney complains about radiation and boosts shield power, in SG-1, a Goa'uld mothership's shields were said to be able to block the sun's radiation in the coronosphere for one hour with no problems, so nukes outside the shields wouldn't be a problem, nukes inside the shields would require the Daedalus to sit still and it might (I stress the word might) have radiological armor like the Wraith.

@CobaltX07 If Daedalus has energy shields, it migth not have more armorthan that, Galactica has no such energy sields, so it has to have radiological armor attached to the hull, if a Raptor enters and delivers a nuke, the gamma rays could kill the crew,and doesn´t need to actually destroy the ship. i think Daedalus vs Galactica is something like Yamato Battleship vs Taffy 3 task force.

As much as i like both series and have been afan of Stargate uch longer then of battlestar galactica, i would say a batllestar is much tougher then the deadalus or odessey. Without it's shield there is no way it can withstand nuclear missiles the way galactica does. However, i think all the ancient and asgard weaponary heavily outwheigh galactica's batteries, as ori-ships with shields have been destroyed by only a handfull of blasts by asgard-weapons. Tough match...

Of course, it's not like they'd conveniently drop shields so the Galactica would have a chance, and with shields up, they could almost certainly take every nuke and projectile ordinance on board the Galactica without getting their paint scratched.

The Galactica took some major hits. I haven't counted but troughout the series, i'd say about 20 nukes hit it and it stil flew. Furthermore the Galactica was heavily outdated and , as told in season 4, build with inferior metals. Imagine what it would withstand if it hadn't been build in a hury, let alone if it was a modern battlestar such as the Pegasus. Have you seen Galactica's and better yet, Pegasus's batteries fire? ....

They can also take 200 megaton energy blasts like they were blowdarts, show one instance Galactica put out more than that in 1 battle.

@SSTTEEAALLTTHH The plasma energy weapon yield doesn't matter, what matters is that it cuts apart 11 km long ships like swiss cheese. What also mattera is that stargate has nukes millions of times stronger than Galactica's (they literally have nukes more than 1000000x the yield of some of those old kiloton nukes we commonly see thrown around) and they can beam these nukes into the CIC. Like I said, Galactica is tougher in terms of armor not in terms of anything else.

@SSTTEEAALLTTHH Also, were in commanding the Odyssey, I wouldn't even have the 302s engage the vipers, since the vipers pose no threat even if they rammed the Odyssey, I'd have them jump inside the hangar bays with the hyperdrive (like they did to Anubis's ship), allow a few seconds for the people on Galactica to think 'what-the-frak' before launching 1.2 gigaton nukes inside the ship.

I believe they would also be more effective in atmo since a viper's agility would be compromised, but again I'm not saying they'd beat the vipers in space, just that they wouldn't even bother and go straight for Galactica. In fact, a 302 with a hyperdrive and a Mark IX could probably destroy Galactica.

And yes, that's exactly what would happen. All those beautiful little explosions around Galactica...they're pointless. It's the defense perimeter. If a Daedalus cruiser doesn't launch fighters, it's pointless, since they can't stop energy beams. Ship-to-ship missiles are also useless, as the Daedalus' shields would stop them. Even if they didn't, the ship has withstood hits from energy weapons far stronger than what Galactica can throw at it.

Furthermore, the Daedalus class' energy weapons would cut through the Galactica like a hot knife through butter. Not to mention the fact that they're also armed with multi-gigaton yield nuclear missiles, far more powerful than anything in the Galactica's arsenal. And they wouldn't even need to fire them. They could just transport them on-board. Yes, if we follow what the two shows present, a Daedalus class cruiser could wipe out Galactica in a few minutes at most. But again, this is all for fun.

mature, yes, any good for the audience who is watching it, no. It lacks the small humor or even a sngle pun to let off teh constant darkness feeling and over exagerates reactions of characters (a rebellion over puttin gmachines in a ship when the only chance of survival are those machines, thats kinda an obvious one) its a good series, with a good story, but it is just to overly serious and exagerates thigns to the extremee sometimes. Stargate is good overall, less serious, but serious enough.

plus nothing can go through shields other dan drones (cus they can phase in and out of rielity) and the plasma lasers can do alot of damage if they dontden they an jus beam nues at em lol

Big V Small, im willing to bet on the 304 :) . She can beam a warhead inside the target ships and her shields can take a pounding not counting the Plasma weaponry :P . They are only 200 meters ( Same size as Prometheus, they are just wider and more streamlined )
BSG has plenty of weaponry and thick armor plus a solid backup plan ( FTL, jump out ) . BSG is just a massive target to the small advanced ship

I'm a huge fan of the promethus. i think they need to make more of those ships as flag ships but with updated tech. If you mounted az weps on them they would be unstoppable beasts. with the shields and armor upgrades.
But BSG has to charge their FTL drive making that area a really big target for beam weapons.and a BC-304's shields can take a few nukes and drones and energy wepons to boot. so yea.
