  • 108 is the winner

  • which one is best suited for hendriix mxr, dunlop standard fuzz face or the hendrix fuzz face.

  • @21zband honestly, the mxr classic 108 is pretty much a hendrix signature fuzz face in a box with a battery door, LED light, 9v adapter and buffer to use with a wah...and it's cheaper

  • @Noseheros just like the MXR phase 90 custom shop script model is the same thing as the EVH model.

  • intro feedbacks are so cool but i don't understand meaning of the word that SG Les Paul... it looks like SG..why do you say les paul?..(BTW color is bloody nice..it's a very sexy yellow)

  • @neomedcihan83 because when the SG first came out it was called a les paul as well. les paul (the guitarist) didnt like it so they re named it the SG.

  • @neomedcihan83 sgs were made by lespaul

  • Well, the mxr with the buffer on and even off, gets a brighter sound and even louder

  • Dude you do the best demos out there. Great comparison! analogman wins imo, more grit and better dynamics, though the MXR wasn't half bad actually.

  • MXR 108 or Fulltone 70?

  • @Dioxido87 Id really like to see this comparison as well!!!

  • analogman sounds better

  • MXR. YUK. Ill take the analogman.. smooth and creamy. Just like all their pedals are. Tasty.

  • I've got the MXR. It's fat and smooth and on the more civilized end of the fuzz face spectrum. It's also nicely built, except for one thing: the switch. Rather than being a self-contained unit, the switch has an upper part that's screwed to the housing and a lower part that's mounted on the board, and there's this little pushrod thing that connects them. Problem is when you separate the board from the housing, the pushrod gets loose along with a tiny spring and washer. It's ridiculous.

  • Always love your shootouts & comparisons, this one was great. I liked the MXR better, like you said some would. For anybody else reading this, always remember to wish Gearmandude a Happy Reverb Day. Just kidding.

  • MIDNIGHT FROM THE INSIDE OUT!!!!!!

  • Sounds like the MXR uses higher gain BC108. Most new BC108's have really high gain. The Analogman is probably closer to vintage spec in terms of transistor gain rating. But then again hard to tell with You Tube audio.

  • what's the intro song please? sounds great..

    Oh btw, I love your demo's :)

  • MXR is louder and fatter, Analogman's brighter and sounds more organic and smoother when GMD played double notes... given the price differences it's pretty much a tie.

  • thats the name of the song in the beginning?

  • MXR.

  • 3:28

i'm going to casually play a mind blowing lick with godly tone.

  • Both sound pretty good, but quite different for sure.

  • Very Nice Demonstration !!! Youve really showed up everything..i know wich one to buy now !! Mxr Power !! but analogman sounds great too

  • the mxr sounds slightly brighter , they both sound good maybe the analogman is the one i would choose , but i already bought the mxr and i noticed that the buffer knob is the best feature of all the fuzzes out there..they clean that sweep sound and thickens the sound..i have boyc fuzz and without the buffer it is very trebly.

  • DEMO THE NECK PICKUP!

  • The MXR reminds of the sound Clutch uses, so I def like that one better.

  • Jack Black?

  • I can't believe how well that MXR did. A big price difference between the two pedals. The MXR sounded like a freakin Fuzz face! The Analogman sounded too smooth. More Muffy. Pretty darn muffy. I wouldn't get the analogman if I wanted a foozz face in a friendly form. Especially for the bucks.

  • SUNFACE BC108 - sounds warmer, bass sounds louder and tighter

MXR CLASSIC 108 - sounds brighter, even brighter with the buffer on. This guy did a really great job, I thought it was going to get blown out of the water.

*like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay.

  • Analogman. I don't like the MXR at all.

  • HOW MANY PEDALS DO YOU OWN?

  • The Buffer switch eliminates the audible oscillation caused when some wah-wahs are placed in front of a Fuzz Face.

  • MXR Sounds nice to me :)

  • This one goes to 11!

  • sounds a bit like Kage lol:P

  • PLZZ tell me whats the name of the song in the beginning

  • @VoodooTheChild

Black Crowes - Midnight from the Inside Out

  • @TheBurntGerbil

Thanks -- I was wondering the same thing myself.

  • MXR

  • analog man is way way way better

  • Analogman is better, it sound more solid.

  • MXR is a little bit louder I think, which makes it sound better in this video.

  • MXR all the way

  • I really can't make my mind up. They both sound fantastic for different reasons. This could prove expensive. hahaha

  • @PhilsenLasVegas get! BOTH! haha

  • @jackevans199 If I could, my friend, I would. hahaha.

  • MXR.

It has the midrange honk that sounds like Jimi. The Analog Man has it somewhat but it's just not as pronounced. Somehow MXR (and the Dunlop JH-F1 which has the same circuit but no buffer) managed to nail that Jimi midrange quality. I've never owned another fuzzface that could do that. The MXR doesn't have pronounced bass, it has a pronounced mids quality that the Analog Man lacks.

  • Analog Man

  • MXR

  • MXR

  • I have an MXR, It sounds really great And with the buffer you can get that "near crack" sound distorion, but its... fuzz lol.

Mxr is definately more rounded sounding and screams all around the place, filling gaps i guess.

works wonders with with wahs and other pedals, since i use univibe and wah.

  • just got the mxr... it sounds awesome and costs half as much

  • MXR! Thanks gearduder!!

  • The camera sound is all distorted :-(

  • did he chug on chords for an hour? no. were there chords played in a few places? yes. dude...i mean, really...

  • That's so true dude

  • i think MXR fits my preference, its like more crunchy and thicker

  • Nice demo! I like booth pedals. By the way,the Song on the intro and outro is " Midnight From the inside out" by The Black Crowes.

    Rock!

  • Indeed, what is the song at the beginning?

I like the analogman, It sounds less compressed and more grainy.

  • whats the song at the beginning?

  • in my opinion, i like mxr more. it sounds more richer than analogman...

  • in my opinion i dont think the MXR is better than the Analogman. both pedals are awesome but for all Pink Floyd Fans out there such as myself, its best that the analogman bc-108 sun face is the best choice. but overall both pedals are best.

  • I don't really like either of these, not enough thickness.

  • Gmd you rock nice vids with the sunface. Analogman fuzz's are the best period for me anyway. I just picked up the nkt-275 sunface and love it. Check out my demo of the new Hendrix fuzz thur a cranked super 100jh Marshall(2nd song).

  • i thought the mxr was germanium fuzz?

  • it's definitely silicon

  • I got the MXR and this is a really muffled sound that came out of this pedal... Even with the buffer on. What should I do ?

Also, when I switch to the buffer mode, it has less drive than the normal sound... And on every video I watch, I never hear this problem. My pedal is brand new, so what do you think I should do ?

  • how are the settings on your guitar and amp? did you check those?

  • Thank for the help, but now I don't have this problem anymore :) Have a nice day !

  • true that the analogman has a tad tastier sound than the mxr but the i'd take the mxr because it is has more definition . the analogman sounds weak side by side. i'd give 10 to both.

  • The MXR has my vote though they both sounds really nice!

As far as getting lost in a mix goes, it seems like the MXR has more overall output. I think it'd do just fine in a full band situation. We all have boost pedals right?

  • MXR makes good pedals man

  • No its not. Its already been proven that he's just a guy in a band that has an awesome gear collection. There was vids with him and his band and whatnot.

  • The MXR sounds like a good fuzz face. I could use the buffer in hopes that it works with my Crybaby classic without the oscillation. So I may get one. I have a 70 and that gets a good fuzz face but its terrible with the wah.

  • Hey man i got the mxr!

It works amazingly with wahs! Perfect actually!

I don't turn the buffer off even when not using the wah! It still has a harsh fuzz tone on the neck p/u and a dirty sort of dist on the bridge p/u!

    LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • That was a great demo. I think I'm gonna have to get that MXR pedal.

  • The MXR is ballsier, but the Analogman has a sweeter voice.

  • The MXR sounds better with the buffer, otherwise I'd go with Analogman

  • The MXR was definitely beefy. I could see how both would be useful in certain circumstances, it doesn't really seem like one is better, they're just variations of some awesome fuzz!

  • the mxr sounds incredible more definition and prescence, like it better than the analog man

  • Same here. MXR sounds incredible.

  • Oh for sure, the MXR sounds so much better.

  • "beautiful pair there"

    that's what she said

  • its point to point....ROCK ON!

    GMD

  • they are no doubt very nice but 2500 is a bit steep for a 17 watt... I would prefer to go with the Jaguar lead head.

  • 2500 is the List Price...you can get one around $1750 brand new from a dealer....not bad...similar pricing to the Dr Z amps, which is what drew me to them...

    ROCK!

    GMD

  • @gearmanndude hey.. could you compare the big muff pi new york version to the mxr classic fuzz?

  • SG-les paul custom shop thing XD
