@yamahabmxer1 Sometime it holds well but I usually have to tune a string or two after a lead with many bends. Same with my LP.

@Linky086 Thanks. I have never had a hiss problem with it. I heard some people talk about it. There is a little noise but it's a tube amp so a little is normal. I am selling mine. I just bought a different amp that I like better. The Express 5:50 2/12 is too much for my needs.

@goodolarchie I got a Fender Deluxe III. The new version 3 has a great gain channel. Not heavy but sounds great. I still have the MESA too.

@ToneKingGuitarMan If I am using a single coil guitar it will have more backround noise as opposed to a guitar with humbuckers in it. if I crank the volume up to 11 o'clock really loud you will know the amp is on if I'm not playing but not a loud hiss. I just bought a mesa electra dyne from sweetwater 2 weeks ago, i was like a kid at Christmas. Plugged it in and 2 minutes later it blew up on me. Mesa said it was probably a bad tube. i said "don't care. It's being returned!

@ToneKingGuitarMan I have had the Express 5:50 for a year now and have had no problems with it. I don't play loud too much. There will be a little noise like any tube amp but shouldn't be a loud hiss. When I do crank it I am standinding within a few feet from the amp and like i mentioned, you know the amp is on but nothing bad, i get the same with my fender tube amp too. A single coil guitar will bring it out a little more too. Hope this was helpful.

@nahs1988 Thanks, this did help, it seems to be a problem with this amp only and not a design problem with all Mesa Express amps.

@ToneKingGuitarMan I own the 2x12 combo, & it does hiss pretty much on every channel, but that's what I expect since I play a Telecaster. It has that 60 cycle hum, IMO- hum & hiss are part of the full dynamics of a pickup, wire, electricity, tube amps. Had a Strat w/ noiseless pickups -sounded quieter- but lacked in tone and dynamics. I still haven't found my sweet spot w/ the eq. The amp sounds great and all, but just seems to me to be missing that Mesa "spongy" feel I hoped for-

I sold my Les Paul a long time ago. Just started playing again about a year ago. I have the SG, Fender Strat and 2 PRS guitars. The PRS Smokeburst McCarty is my favorite. It has the 57/08 pickups in it. Thanks, check out my other vids.
