  • Now I have to find my Sheryl Crow cd

  • It looks like a well designed highway. The speed limit is set at an artificially low level. The police act as revenue collectors. Increase the speed limit to an appropriate level.

  • Hey, Just a question, what does the word "Limit" mean?

Also, I'm glad to see that the driver, who obeys the law, does not drive in the far left lane with their blinker on and the rear-view mirror pointed at their face so they can check their makeup.

People who make the conscious decision to break the law should not be catered to by those who choose to follow the rules of the road. SO skatesurfsnowmedia, check your attitude at the door and head out onto the public roads with safety in mind.

  • Please who drive arrogant, that is to say 20-30 miles over the posted limit on a regular basis, eventually wind up either getting in an accident, getting a very serious traffic ticket, or getting killed. I knew someone personally who died on I-81, going 103 and lost control as they tried to pass a truck. People who drive this why probably also have some kind of issue in their own lives which is why they drive that way.

  • If you are going slower than traffic, that's fine, just keep right and there should be no problems.

  • This is unsafe and rude.

  • @SkateSurfSnowMedia Um, please tell me how driving the speed limit is unsafe and rude?

  • @BETHELONIA I'm glad to:

    Unsafe because:

-You should go w/ the flow of traffic

-You slowed down when the speed limit changed from 65 to 60 which could cause an accident as most people dont notice that (I know its stupid but true)

    Rude because:

-You are making people slow down (impeding traffic flow), which is fine if the person is a complete ass but all the traffic is doing that speed therefore you are impeding everyone

-You could have at least slowed down to 60 slower, most people are going...

  • @SkateSurfSnowMedia You should check with the Va State Trooper who gave me a reckless driving ticket and see if he thinks driving the speed limit is "unsafe and rude". I am cured, I don't speed anymore, I drive the speed limit. The price of a lawyer and court costs and fines will sometimes do that to you. It's not fun, however, as is evident in my video, but unsafe and rude? Whatever :)

  • @BETHELONIA 75 causing people to slow down rapidly

  • @SkateSurfSnowMedia

This tells me one thing, the fines for speeding aren't tough enough. If we live in a world were following the speed limit is considered unsafe and rude then the fines need to be increased and drivers like you need to be taken off the road.

  • @Brandon3060 Then all drivers should be taken off the road by your logic

  • what kind of car? you have dual overdrive.

va is a very corrupt state for keeping speed limits too slow to turn plenty of revenue.

  • ;) well at least you stayed in the right lanes. holy cow... and at 2 minutes in you moved to the far right lane! wow.. not something I'm used to seeing on 66...

... and the speed limit doesn't go down to 55 until you crest the hill before 29 Centreville ;) @5:15 in your video is the "reduce speed ahead" sign.

  • Sorry, flip the higher and lower in my comment.

  • What they should do is have speed limit signs that change like in some states. The speed limit should be higher during congested times and lower in uncongested times. The speed limit could easily be at least 70 to Centreville.

  • The driver is showing that if you drive the speed limit in these areas around Fairfax county you will be over taken by other drivers. I recently got pulled over for going 73 on a 55 close to here, but most of these other drivers must have been going way over that. I get to visit the county judge and face possible criminal charges because going over 20 miles over the speed limit in this area gets you automatic reckless driving charge. This out-of-towner didn't know that! So haters, wake up!

  • @joelitoom Hi Joelitoom, that's the reason I made this video a few years ago, I too got a reckless driving ticket for going 83 in a 55 on that part of I66 in Fairfax. Now I'll admit 83 is a bit extreme, but I seriously only went that fast for a few seconds, most of the time (Driving from Luray to Falls Church) I was going 5-10 mph over the limit, but trust me when I say I picked the wrong few seconds to accelerate around some slow drivers. I think it cost me total of about $600.

  • @BETHELONIA Good for you, spread the word that these limits are stupid. And 83 in a 55 isn't that extreme, I've done that on some of these roads that are 20-30 mph + underposted. The annoying safety nannies won't get rid of them because of political inertia and crying from soccer moms.

  • your the kind of driver that everybody else hates..congrats for proving it to us through a video

  • @386obc

Because he follows the speed limit or because he's using a video camera while driving?

  • @Brandon3060 for driving exactly the speed limit on a highway, when other cars are passing and not being in the slow lane.

  • @Brandon3060 Hes following the speed limit, dangerous and fucking annoying

  • What's your point? You're a slow annoying driver that shouldn't be driving on the freeway...

  • all northern virginians know that the speed limit on 66 whether it's in dc, fairfax, manassas or near i81 is 75. ;)

  • Underpassing isn't good, but if you're going to go the speed limit (and aren't passing anybody) you should be in the right lane. Good you did that, so people wouldn't keep passing you unsafely.

  • sorry but your wrong...if everybody does 100 there will be the same conjestion as if everybody was doing 25 and i would know cause in japan the max speed is 50 and they dont have as bad conjestion as we do and thats with a shit load of buses and lorries

  • if you are getting passed on the right then you are going to slow for the lane you are in and most likely causing congestion which is unsafe. slower drivers, stay right.

  • very safe driving and using your camcorder at the same time

  • Try this on the NJ Turnpike. You will have people tailgaiting you on the right lane as they want to go 80MPH and can't bothered to switch lanes.

  • they cant switch lanes because theres usually a new yorker in the fast lane blocking it up its true happens alot on the parkway, its almost always a new yorker in the left lane going the same speed as the person in the right lane

  • I usually drive at 55miles/hour to save gas, but going slowly we must drive on the right lane...

  • everyone is doing like 70-90mph

  • HAHAHAHAHA welcome to Virginia baby!!!

  • one time someone gave me the finger for only going 10 over on 66...the roads would be a lot safer if everybody did the speed limit cause its hard to crash when your going 60 the guy in front is going 60 and the guy in back is going 60...plus you SAVE GAS doing the speed limit...everybody like that...right?

  • if everybody went the same speed it would create congestion and more traffic. "stay right, except to pass" should be the golden rule of the highway. faster drivers free up the roads.

  • @JohnEdwardBiggs Just raise the speed limit to something reasonable like is recommended by scientific engineering standards...

  • @sociopathicregret Thats an idea.

  • @JohnEdwardBiggs Yeah many urban highways in Europe are 75 or 80, 55 is a joke.

  • @sociopathicregret I agree, 55 is a joke. I guess they do that so they can give more tickets. I remember when I was in Korea, the speed limit was like 75 mph. I heard the governor wants to raise the max speed in VA to 70, but I haven't heard much about it yet.

  • @JohnEdwardBiggs They already did raise it to 70, but 80 is still reckless driving which is just as unfair as before because 10 over gets you reckless????

  • @sociopathicregret Well they didn't bother raising it to 70 where I live. I think they deliberately make it 10 under what they want you to do because most people usually add 10 to the speed limit anyways.

  • @JohnEdwardBiggs Thats shown not to be true I think, IF they put the limit appropriately. Most of the time they don't and when enforcement is heavy some do keep it to 10 over.

  • @sociopathicregret Well there is no use complaining, I'll just continue to do 10 over the limit whether they like it or not.

  • @JohnEdwardBiggs Yeah same here, or with the flow of traffic etc. You can contact your legislators and whatnot though, remember that no one has made an organized effort really to properly set speed limits so you have a chance. Or visited the national motorists association (motorists DOT o r g) for more information. I'm considering joining.

  • @sociopathicregret I might have to do that, I mean seriously, 55 is really slow for an interstate.

  • Keep to the right-most unbroken lane unless overtaking/passing, as a matter of routine.

Speed - imparted by numerical signs or legislated 'defaults' is irrelevant to real world on-road safety;- 'manner', 'behaviour', vehicle and weather condition is where we are at in road safety terms.

Ensure your vehicle has a high-quality hazard warning triangle and 'safety vest' - one per passenger seat, a la Euro requirement for all road users.

  • WE DRIVE BABY!!

  • why isnt the speed limit 66?

  • lol
